Abstract

Haji Ahmad Laksamana, a controversial figure known through his work “Hakikat Insan”, is often considered deviant from traditional Islamic teachings, particularly regarding the use of Sharia and Tariqa as well as interpretations of the Quran. This article aims to describe the thoughts and Quranic interpretation methodology of Haji Ahmad Laksamana. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature analysis approach. The primary source is the text “Hakikat Insan,” supplemented by various secondary sources, including journals and relevant books. The study finds that Haji Ahmad Laksamana's teachings emphasize the recognition of the essence of knowledge to achieve the level of Insan Kamil Mukamil. His thoughts, reflected in discussions about the relationship between humans and Allah, the dignity of the soul, the essence of the testimony of faith, as well as concepts of Islam, faith, monotheism, and gnosis, demonstrate a unique approach. However, his interpretation method, such as translating Quranic verses into symbols, has sparked controversy and is considered deviant from traditional Islamic understanding. Haji Ahmad Laksamana's controversial ideas are viewed as contradictory to Islamic teachings, diminishing the honor of the Quran and Hadith.AbstrakHaji Ahmad Laksamana, seorang figur kontroversial yang dikenal melalui karyanya “Hakikat Insan”  sering kali dianggap menyimpang dari ajaran Islam tradisional, terutama dalam hal penggunaan syariat dan tarekat serta penafsiran Al-Quran. Artikel ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tentang pemikiran, dan metodologi penafsiran Al-Quran Haji Ahmad Laksamana.  Kajian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan analisis kepustakaan. Sumber utama adalah teks “Hakikat Insan” serta berbagai sumber sekunder termasuk jurnal dan buku yang relevan. Kajian ini menemukan bahwa ajaran Haji Ahmad Laksamana menitikberatkan pada pengenalan ilmu hakikat untuk mencapai tingkat Insan Kamil Mukamil. Pemikirannya yang tertuang dalam pembahasan mengenai hubungan manusia dengan Allah, martabat nafsu, hakikat syahadat, serta konsep Islam, iman, tauhid, dan makrifat, menunjukkan pendekatan yang unik. Namun, metode interpretasinya, seperti penerjemahan ayat Al-Quran ke dalam simbol, telah menimbulkan kontroversi dan dianggap menyimpang dari pemahaman Islam tradisional. Pemikiran Haji Ahmad Laksamana yang kontroversial dianggap bertentangan dengan ajaran Islam dan mengurangi kehormatan Al-Quran dan hadis.

Abstract

Pulang bale refers to a marriage that is carried out after death of the spouse (either husband or wife) with his/her siblings. This article aims to analyze pulang bale marriages in Aceh in relation to child protection. The facts so far show that many marriage models do not support their protection. To elaborate on this, researchers will highlight how this marriage typology can ensure support for the ḥaḍānah and how this typology encourages family resilience in protecting the children. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews and observations using qualitative technical analysts. This research used a Fiqh Munākaḥah and a sociological approach. The results of the research were; first, marriage strengthens the ḥaḍānah of children due to blood relationships (musaharah) and emotional between the child’s mother and stepmother. Second, family resilience is strengthened by the same extended family and there is minimal chance of conflict both economic and social. As a finding, pulang bale with the applicable customary provisions is a marriage typology that strengthens the family's commitment and resilience

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the phenomenon of the growing identity politics and religious politicization leading up to elections in Indonesia. Through a description of the facts that have transpired in recent years, this study portrays the reality of the increasing identity politics, stemming from group characteristics such as ethnicity, religion, and tribe, which have impacted political dynamics and the formation of specific political alliances. The influence of social media and information technology has also contributed to reinforcing identity politics and religious politicization in the past decade. In this research, a qualitative descriptive method is employed, with the aim of uncovering previously undisclosed realities. Confronting these challenges, the study underscores the importance of political education, enhancing public awareness, as well as fostering an inclusive and tolerant society. With a focus on substantive issues and sustainable development, preserving unity amidst diversity is essential as the foundation for building an inclusive and dignified democracy.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis fenomena berkembangnya politik identitas dan politisasi agama menjelang pemilu di Indonesia. Melalui deskripsi fakta-fakta yang terjadi dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, penelitian ini menggambarkan realitas meningkatnya politik identitas, yang berasal dari karakteristik kelompok seperti, etnis, agama, dan suku, telah mempengaruhi dinamika politik dan pembentukan aliansi-aliansi politik tertentu. Pengaruh media sosial dan teknologi informasi juga telah ikut memperkuat politik identitas dan politisasi agama dalam satu dekade terakhir ini. Dalam penelitian ini metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan, dengan metode ini diharapkan dapat menggambarkan realitas yang sebelumnya belum terungkap. Dalam menghadapi tantangan ini, penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pendidikan politik, peningkatan kesadaran publik, serta pembangunan masyarakat yang inklusif dan toleran. Dengan fokus pada isu-isu substansial dan pembangunan berkelanjutan diperlukan memelihara persatuan dalam keragaman sebagai dasar untuk membangun demokrasi yang inklusif dan bermartabat.

Abstract

When the principle of tolerance is seen as an agreement on shared values, the forms of its practice can be diverse, even contradictory. On the other hand, the relationship between minority and majority groups in Indonesia continues to change over time, and this dynamic becomes a locus of control for the authorities. The government never ignores this problem. In addition to regulations, one of the facilities provided is the existence of Islamic Religious Counselors. The purpose of this study is to explain the role of Islamic religious counselors in realizing harmonious relations for minority groups in freedom of religion and belief. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The results of the study show the issue in understanding the extent to which the role of divine (heavenly) religious symbols is manifested in the social realm when the majority and minority groups of various religious believers interact with each other in a society, and when each different symbol touches each other intensely. Religious counselors can provide an important foundation for expressing religion amid diversity. The main thing that needs to be underlined is the moderate religious insight and attitude. This is what distinguishes a Islamic religious councelor from other religious figures although both convey religious messages through guidance and counseling activities. The efforts and roles of religious icouncelors are explained from the perspective of religious moderation, harmonization, and freedom of religion and belief. From the perspective of religious moderation, the councelors have a role as an agent of moderation, guardian of morals, and guardian of faith, while from the perspective of harmonization, the councelors have an informative and educative roles, the same thing also in realizing freedom of religion and belief.

Abstract

Karl Marx was a philosopher and social observer, whose intelligence and brilliant thinking earned him a position as a political leader among the proletarian class of his time. For Marx, the essence of humanity lies in labor, and religion is a product and expression of the interests of the oppressed lower classes. Living in Europe during the industrial age, Marx's thoughts differed significantly from those of other philosophers of his time. This text examines Marx's thoughts on Materialism, religious beliefs, and Marxist Economics. Research findings indicate that Historical Materialism proposed by Marx is a useful term for providing the basic assumptions of his theory. The emphasis in his work "Das Kapital" is on the material needs and the struggle to enhance socialist revolution so that the proletariat can enjoy the majority of what is produced by industrialism. Marx believed that the ownership of the means of production in society should be evenly distributed according to human needs, not to the greed of a few. Religion, Marx argued, is an opiate for the masses, manipulating them with promises of eternal futures, thus alienating them from reality. In the capitalist economic system, Marx contended that fair wages for labor should be determined equally, just as the value of each commodity is determined by the amount of labor, meaning that employers should pay workers according to their labor

Abstract

Domestic violence is any act against a person, especially women, that results in physical, sexual, psychological, and/or domestic neglect, including threats to commit acts, coercion, harassment, or unlawful deprivation of independence within the scope of the household. As stated in Article 1, Paragraph 1, of Law No. 23 of 2003 concerning the elimination of domestic violence, In the event of domestic violence, the settlement, although there is a law regulating domestic violence that requires the settlement process in court, still chooses customary law institutions to resolve domestic disputes. The people of Gayo Lues, in each gampong, have a customary institution that handles everything related to the interests of the community both internally and externally, namely the Geucik or penghulu. The community prefers to resolve cases of domestic violence through gampong customary institutions because the principles are in accordance with the values that have developed in the community. Customary law can resolve problems in a peaceful and easy way, and customary justice will realize the principles of kinship, peace, harmony, sincerity, and a strong sense of brotherhood. Settlement by customary law does not recognize defeat and victory and can even strengthen the bonds of brotherhood that were almost broken due to domestic violence. The pattern of resolving domestic violence cases resolved by Pak Geucik Gampong Penggalangan begins with a report from the victim or perpetrator, then, at a predetermined time, separate mediation is held by calling the victim or perpetrator in turn, after which mediation or deliberation is held simultaneously and a decision is made that has been agreed upon by both parties and outlined in an agreement letter.

Abstract

The phenomenon of roving morning prayers in the city of Banda Aceh is a new thing in Acehnese society. Supposedly, as an area that implements Islamic law with a majority Muslim community, the congregational dawn movement is not a strange thing. Because the morning congregation is an integral part of the implementation of Islamic teachings, this appears as a new movement in urban society. The main problems in this research are: how this movement initially appeared in the city of Banda Aceh. Then also see how the motivation of worshipers who follow What is the impact on society? This research uses descriptive qualitative methods in obtaining data using several techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documents, to analyze the data using descriptive qualitative methods. Acehnese society is known as a religious society that always upholds fundamental religious values. but now it has slowly begun to be eroded by the swift flow of globalization. Because the results of the globalization process, in fact, are able to anesthetize the human soul to always be addicted to technology as a vehicle for modern life, making humans forget what they have. Such a condition exists in Acehnese society for the people of the origin of life to seek the meaning of religion in life. This group plays a role in accommodating the spiritual needs of the community. One of the places to be able to express closeness to God is with the emergence of the Fajr prayer movement in congregations in Banda Aceh City. The presence of the congregational morning prayer movement in the public sphere has provided a new color in terms of Islamic spiritual experience, as seen from the number of congregants who follow and also receive support from the community and government as well. In terms of spirituality, there are two sides obtained from the congregational morning prayer movement, namely, the vertical spiritual side. The congregational morning prayer movement establishes a relationship with the creator through worship in the form of congregational prayer. Then, from the horizontal side, this movement can become a place for friendship between fellow Muslims in the city of Banda Aceh.

Abstract

This article critically examines the concept of human freedom through a comparative analysis of Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialism and the Islamic doctrine of tawhid. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes Sartre’s foundational texts—Being and Nothingness and Existentialism is a Humanism—alongside key Islamic philosophical and theological sources. Sartre views human freedom as absolute and burdened with self-definition in the absence of divine authority, leading to anxiety, alienation, and moral subjectivism. In contrast, Islam situates freedom within the framework of divine will (qada’ and qadar), viewing it as a trust (amanah) exercised under God’s guidance and evaluated through moral accountability. Through four key themes—ontological freedom, responsibility, divine will, and moral implication—the study demonstrates that while Sartre articulates the existential depth of human autonomy, the Islamic worldview offers a more coherent and ethically sustainable model of freedom. This integrated understanding grounds freedom in spiritual purpose, communal responsibility, and the moral agency of the individual. Abstrak: Artikel ini mengkaji tentang konsep kebebasan manusia melalui analisis perbandingan antara eksistensialisme Jean-Paul Sartre dan doktrin tawhid dalam Islam. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif berbasis studi pustaka, kajian ini menganalisis teks-teks utama Sartre—Being and Nothingness dan Existentialism is a Humanism—bersama sumber-sumber filsafat dan teologi Islam klasik maupun kontemporer. Sartre memandang kebebasan manusia sebagai sesuatu yang absolut dan menuntut definisi diri sepenuhnya dalam ketiadaan otoritas ilahi, yang pada akhirnya melahirkan kecemasan, keterasingan, dan moralitas yang subjektif. Sebaliknya, Islam menempatkan kebebasan dalam kerangka kehendak ilahi (qada’ dan qadar), sebagai amanah yang dijalankan di bawah bimbingan Tuhan dan dipertanggungjawabkan secara moral. Melalui empat tema utama—ontologi kebebasan, tanggung jawab, kehendak Tuhan, dan implikasi moral—studi ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun Sartre berhasil mengartikulasikan kedalaman eksistensial dari kebebasan manusia, pandangan Islam menawarkan model kebebasan yang lebih koheren dan berkelanjutan secara etis. Pemahaman yang terintegrasi ini menempatkan kebebasan dalam tujuan spiritual, tanggung jawab sosial, dan agensi moral individu.

Abstract

The displacement of Rohingya refugees remains a pressing humanitarian issue, particularly in Aceh, Indonesia, where initial expressions of solidarity have shifted towards growing resistance. This study examines the factors driving this shift and the role of ulama in mediating social tensions amid economic anxieties and digital misinformation. Using a qualitative approach, primary data were collected through fieldwork conducted in Aceh between November 2023 and March 2024, including in-depth interviews with ulama, community leaders, and government officials, as well as document analysis. The findings reveal that while Aceh’s cultural and religious traditions emphasize hospitality, economic instability, resource competition, and misinformation have fueled skepticism toward continued refugee acceptance. Ulama, traditionally influential in shaping public discourse, face increasing challenges from digital narratives that undermine their authority and disrupt established mechanisms for building tolerance. This study highlights the urgent need for structured refugee policies, stronger cross-sectoral collaboration, and digital engagement strategies for ulama to maintain their influence. Without strategic interventions, Aceh’s long-standing reputation for tolerance may deteriorate, underscoring the importance of adaptive governance in refugee management.
