Abstract

The focus of the current study is to investigate mathematical reasoning and behaviour among a local Indonesian tribe (Sasakese tribe in Lombok) in measurement tradition and their potential integration into mathematics instructions.  It is ethnomathematics research where the data are collected through observations, interviews, and artefact studies. The data are analyzed by using the qualitative-verificative approach. The findings indicate that Sasakese in Lombok performs mathematical reasoning and behaviour as a part of their tradition. In their measurement tradition, they have practised several mathematical principles. They have a conception about the role and the use of unit measurements. They have even invented several informal forms of unit measurements. They also have a conversion system of those unite measurements that are similar regarding mathematical principles to those of international standards, such as the metrics standard. They also show their understanding of the idea of ratio and proportion in utilizing the conversion system. Those mathematical traditions potentially inspire mathematics instructions. The tradition can be utilized as didactical phenomenology or as a mean to support students to reach more formal mathematics in teaching about unit measurement as well as ratio and proportion.

Abstract

[Bahasa]: Pengabdian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk Berangkat dari kerangka berpikir diatas maka pengabdian dengan tujuan peningkatan kualitas madrasah dengan sosialisasi akreditasi menjadi sangat bermakna, mengingat sasaran pengabdian adalah madrasah ibtidaiyah swasta yang berada diwilayah marjinal kota Mataram. Pelatihan ini akan menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan active learning dimana pembicara hanya merupakan fasilitator dan lebih mengeksplorasi capabilitas audience yang terdiri dari Kepala sekolah, guru dan Tata Usaha sekolah dan melaksanakan rencana tidak lanjut dengan memberikan pemdampingan dan bimbingan teknis sampai dokumen akreditasi dikirim untuk dinilai. Program pelatihan dalam berjalan sesuai rencana, sehingga peserta dapat melihat langsung di LCD dari mempraktekan yang disampaikan oleh narasumber. Para peserta sangat antusias dan senang dalam mengikuti pelatihan. Para peserta mendapatkan tambahan wawasan dan lebih mempersiapkan diri untuk akreditasi madrasah. Rencana tindak lanjut dari kegiatan pengabdian ini memberikan pendampingan selama 2 minggu setelah kegiatan UAS ganjil 2016/2017 sampai pengisian perangkat akreditasi lengkap dan siap dikirim ke badan akreditasi sekolah untuk diberikan penilaian. Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 53 responden dari berbagai jenis Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA/MA/SMK), dengan 9 siswa laki-laki dan 44 siswa perempuan. Instrumen utama yang digunakan adalah angket yang difokuskan pada dua variabel utama, yakni self-efficacy matematis dan minat belajar matematika. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengumpulkan data yang representatif dan relevan mengenai self-efficacy matematis dan minat belajar matematika di tingkat SMA. Setelah proses pengumpulan data, dilakukan analisis menggunakan regresi linier berganda untuk mengidentifikasi korelasi antara self-efficacy matematis dan minat belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan dalam self-efficacy matematis antara siswa dengan minat belajar matematika tinggi dan rendah. Implikasi penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor seperti pengalaman awal, dukungan orang tua, dan strategi pembelajaran dalam merancang strategi efektif untuk meningkatkan self-efficacy dan hasil belajar siswa dalam mata pelajaran matematika di SMA. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi dalam pemahaman dan perbaikan proses pembelajaran matematika di tingkat SMA.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ mathematical literacy skills in the topic of sequences, viewed from self-resilience. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest nonequivalent control group design using a 2×3 factorial arrangement. The research sample consisted of an experimental class and a control class at MA Plus Nurul Islam Sekarbela. The research instruments included a mathematical literacy test, a self-resilience questionnaire, and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test and two-way ANOVA. The results showed that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model had a significant effect on students’ mathematical literacy skills. The mean posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. Meanwhile, self-resilience did not have a significant effect on mathematical literacy skills. Similarly, there was no significant interaction between the learning model and self-resilience. However, descriptively, students who learned through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model showed higher mathematical literacy skills across all self-resilience categories compared to those in conventional learning. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model effectively improves students’ mathematical literacy skills on sequences material, while self-resilience and its interaction with the learning model do not have a significant effect.

Abstract

This study aims to explain students' attitudes toward mathematics in Southeast Asia, focusing on Indonesia and Thailand. Students' attitudes towards mathematics significantly influence their learning success and academic motivation. This quantitative study involved 494 secondary school students from Indonesia and Thailand. The instrument used was the Fennema-Sherman Mathematics Attitude Scales (F-SMAS) questionnaire with a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings indicate that gender did not show substantial differences in Indonesia and Thailand at the secondary school level, but country of origin did. in Indonesia and Thailand at the secondary school level showed more positive attitudes towards mathematics than Thai students as seen from the higher average scores in self-confidence (Indo: 3.57, Thai: 3.11), greater maternal support (Indo: 3.67, Thai: 3.25), more optimistic perceptions about the usefulness of mathematics better preposition more optimistic perceptions of the usefulness of mathematics (Indo: 3.78, Thai: 3.39), and higher motivation (Indo: 3.32, Thai: 3.12). While there were no significant gender differences between the two countries, the stereotype of mathematics as a male domain was more pronounced in Indonesia (Indo: 3.55, Thai: 3.31), highlighting critical areas for intervention in the education system and the promotion of inclusive attitudes toward mathematics. These findings are expected to enhance the formulation of more contextual educational policies and encourage greater interest and achievement in mathematics among students in the Southeast Asian region.

Abstract

The use of the GeoGebra application in geometry learning continues to grow; however, understanding of how students perceive its effectiveness remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of the effectiveness of GeoGebra in geometry learning at the State Islamic University of Mataram. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving second-semester Mathematics Education students. Semi-structured interviews and documentation were used as instruments to explore students’ experiences, assessments, and responses during GeoGebra-based learning. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that, cognitively, GeoGebra supports students’ understanding of geometric concepts through interactive visualization, ease of exploration, and assistance in constructing and verifying concepts. Affectively, GeoGebra enhances students’ interest, comfort, and motivation to learn due to its engaging and user-friendly interface. These findings suggest that GeoGebra is effective in fostering more interactive and meaningful geometry learning. The study further implies the importance of integrating GeoGebra into higher education geometry courses as an effort to strengthen conceptual understanding and promote students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji etnomatematika pada tari rudat Lombok dan menganalisis kemampuan metakognisi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika berbasis etnomatematika tari rudat Lombok. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan jenis etnografi dan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan tes tulis. Teknik analisis data melalui tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tari rudat Lombok terdapat aktivitas-aktivitas matematika. Selain itu, terdapat konsep matematika pada gerakan penari, alat musik, serta formasi penari, antara lain konsep garis dan sudut, geometri dimensi dua dan tiga. Temuan etnomatematika tersebut dijadikan soal untuk menganalisis kemampuan metakognisi siswa kelas VII di MTs Jamiatul Mu’min sebanyak 16 siswa. Ada 3 variasi siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal yaitu siswa dengan kemampuan metakognisi tinggi mampu menyelesaikan masalah melalui tahapan perencanaan, pemantauan, dan evaluasi. Kemampuan sedang sampai pada tahapan perencanaan dan pemantauan meskipun belum maksimal, serta siswa dengan kemampuan rendah hanya pada tahap perencanaan tetapi kurang dalam merepresentasikan maksud soal. Kata kunci: Etnomatematika, Tari Rudat, Kemampuan Metakognisi Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine ethnomathematics in the Lombok rudat dance and analyze students' metacognitive abilities in solving ethnomathematics-based mathematics problems in the Lombok rudat dance. The approach used was qualitative with ethnographic and descriptive types. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and written tests. The data analysis technique went through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results showed that there were mathematical activities in the Lombok rudat dance. In addition, there are mathematical concepts in the movements of dancers, musical instruments, and dancer formations, including the concepts of lines and angles, two- and three-dimensional geometry. The ethnomathematic findings were used as questions to analyze the metacognitive abilities of 16 grade VII students at MTs Jamiatul Mu'min. There were 3 variations of students in solving problems, namely students with high metacognitive abilities were able to solve problems through the planning, monitoring, and evaluation stages. Moderate abilities reached the planning and monitoring stages although not yet optimal, and students with low abilities were only at the planning stage but were less able to represent the intent of the problem. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence) menuntut mahasiswa untuk memiliki kemampuan adaptif dalam memanfaatkannya sebagai media pembelajaran digital, khususnya dalam menyelesaikan persoalan matematika yang kompleks seperti kalkulus. Kegiatan ini menjadi penting sebagai upaya meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis teknologi di perguruan tinggi. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hard skill mahasiswa dalam memanfaatkan Math AI sebagai media pembelajaran digital pada mata kuliah kalkulus. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif yang mengintegrasikan penyampaian materi, praktik langsung, dan diskusi kritis. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 64 mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi jenjang sarjana sebagai mitra. Sistem evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan angket skala Likert yang terdiri dari 10 butir pernyataan untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemahaman peserta berada pada rentang 66,67% hingga 77,78% yang mencerminkan kategori pemahaman baik hingga sangat baik. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan Math AI efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kalkulus secara lebih efisien dan sistematis.
