Abstract

Mathematical thinking style is an aspect that needs to be studied, especially its implications for the practice of science pedagogy in the classroom, considering the role of mathematics in science learning is very important. Studies related to this theme are seen as very interesting and also very relevant to support future teaching and research practices. The purpose of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of mathematical thinking styles and their implications in science learning. Specifically, this bibliometric study aims to describe and examine literature in areas that are coherent with the concept of mathematical thinking style, and coherence between mathematical thinking style and science learning. The SCOPUS database is used as a source of document information. Screening and document analysis were carried out according to the keywords inserted in the 'search document' menu. With several modes of screening documents in areas that are coherent with the concept of mathematical thinking style and its implications in science learning, a number of documents were found that examine the subject area. The specific screening steps and document findings are discussed further in this article. Basically, specific articles that are coherent with the theme of bibliometric analysis 'mathematical thinking styles and their implications in learning science' describe the importance of studies related to students' mathematical thinking styles. Differences in students' thinking styles become a big challenge for teachers' pedagogical practices in teaching mathematics and science. This is an important implication in this study, and teachers must find the best way to conduct mathematics and science learning in the light of the different mathematical thinking styles of students. Finally, this study can be a reference in future studies that will explore themes related to mathematical thinking styles

Abstract

[English]: This article aims to critically review researches on characters and values in mathematics teaching and learning. Data for the review was the research articles authored by Indonesian mathematics education researchers and published in the online peer-review journals. The articles were searched in national scientific databases, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. The searches resulted in forty articles which aim to develop students' character and values through mathematics lesson. Five steps, i.e., text interpretation, coding, analysis, discussion, and reconsideration, are employed to analyze the articles qualitatively. The review reveals the articles lack of theoretical basis in the conceptualization of character/values, the development of character/values, and their measurement. Twenty-six articles on character did not define the notion clearly; meanwhile, the other articles only cite some definitions, but no operational definition was made. Character is a multifaceted construct which requires an operational definition to measure its development. In developing character and values, various strategies were utilized, but the most authors have not addressed theoretical analysis and rationale on their feasibility and relations the conceptualization of the notions. All articles did not provide any explanation on whether the instruments used were developed with respect to the nature of character or values development and fulfill psychometric properties. In this case, we argue that the researches were unfocused and not extensive. In this article, related theories and prior works are thoroughly discussed to shed light on the researching topics. Further research which relates to character education program in Indonesia is also elaborated. Keywords: Review, Character, Values, Mathematic teaching [Bahasa]: Artikel ini bertujuan mengulas secara kritis penelitian terkait karakter dan nilai dalam pembelajaran matematika. Data untuk ulasan merupakan artikel hasil penelitian yang ditulis oleh peneliti pendidikan matematika Indonesia dan diterbitkan di jurnal daring yang sudah melalui ulasan sejawat. Artikel dicari melalui basis data ilmiah nasional, DOAJ, dan Google Scholar. Pencarian menghasilkan 40 artikel yang bertujuan membangun karakter dan nilai siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Artikel dianalisis secara kualitatif melalui lima langkah yaitu interpretasi teks, penyusunan kode, analisis, diskusi, dan pertimbangan kembali. Ulasan menunjukkan bahwa artikel tersebut memiliki kekurangan dasar teoritis dalam konseptualisasi karakter/nilai, pengembangan karakter/nilai, dan aspek pengukuran. Dua puluh enam artikel yang membahas karakter tidak mendefinisikan istilah tersebut dengan jelas, sedangkan artikel yang lain hanya mengutip beberapa definisi tetapi tidak membuat definisi operasional. Karakter memiliki makna yang bervariasi sehingga membutuhkan definisi operasional untuk mengukur perkembangan pada diri siswa. Dalam mengembangkan karakter dan nilai, beragam strategi digunakan tetapi kebanyakan penulis tidak menjelaskan analisis teoritis and rasionalisasi kenapa strategi tersebut dapat digunakan dan berkaitan dengan konseptualisasi karakter/nilai. Semua artikel tidak memberikan penjelasan apakah instrumen yang dikembangkan sesuai dengan karakteristik perkembangan karakter atau nilai dan memenuhi kriteria psikometri. Dalam hal ini, penelitian terkait karakter/nilai tersebut belum fokus dan berskala kecil. Dalam artikel ini, beberapa teori yang relevan dan hasil penelitian sebelumnya dijelaskan secara mendalam untuk memberikan arah penelitian topik tersebut. Penelitian lebih lanjut yang berkaitan dengan program pendidikan karakter di Indonesia juga dibahas. Kata kunci: Analisis, Karakter, Nilai, Pembelajaran Matematika

Abstract

Students' difficulties in their experiences of the mathematics learning process are when systems of linear equations are integrated with real-world cases in everyday life. Students’ logical thinking is not strong enough to solve the problems presented. Finally, ways of creative thinking are needed as a basis for attaining learning competencies in the teaching materials of linear equation systems. On the one hand, an appropriate learning model is needed to encourage students' creative thinking. Therefore, this study aims to intervene in a mathematical problem-solving model on the linear equations system and analyze its impact on improving students' creative thinking abilities. To attain the research aims, a simple experimental method was applied with a one-group pre-post-test design. A valid essay test instrument was employed to measure students' creative thinking in the four aspects of creative thinking (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration). Creative thinking data collected (pre-post-test) were then analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results of the study indicate that the model of solving mathematical problems in the materials of linear equation systems has a significant impact on improving students' creative thinking abilities. This finding becomes a reference in its application in the routine of learning mathematics, not only on linear equation systems but on other calculus materials.

Abstract

Kemampuan matematika adalah kemampuan memecahkan masalah untuk menemukan suatu jawaban dengan menerapkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemodelan matematika dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita SPtLDV ditinjau dari gaya belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain eksploratif. Subjek penelitian dipilih secara purposive sampling berdasarkan rekomendasi dari guru mata pelajaran dan jumlah peserta didik sehingga dapat mengukur ketercapaian indikator kemampuan pemodelan matematika. Hasil penelitian didapatkan dari 60 peserta didik, terdapat 28 peserta didik memiliki gaya belajar visual, 16 peserta didik memiliki gaya belajar audiotori, 10 peserta didik memiliki gaya belajar kinestetik, 3 peserta didik memiliki gaya belajar auditori-kinestetik dan 3 peserta didik lainnya memiliki gaya belajar visual-kinestetik. Hasil dalam indikator pemodelan matematika (1) tahapan memahami masalah nyata yang diberikan yaitu semua peserta didik menuliskan informasi yang didapat dari soal, (2)  tahap membangun model matematika dengan menggunakan model nyata yaitu semua peserta didik membuat model dengan tepat dan benar, (3) tahap menjawab pertanyaan yaitu semua peserta didik menyelesaikan model matematika dengan metode eliminasi dan subsitusi, (4)  tahap menginterpretasikan hasil, peserta didik menyimpulkan hasil yang diperoleh ke dalam konteks nyata tetapi masih kurang tepat, (5) tahap mevalidasi solusi, salah seorang peserta didik tidak melakukan validasi solusi gaya belajar visual, sedangkan validasi gaya belajar auditori dan kinestetik memvalidasi dengan tepat. Kesimpulan dari penelitian kemampuan pemodelan matematika mampu mendeskripsikan penyelesaian soal cerita SPtLDV ditinjau dari gaya belajar peserta didik di SMK Negeri 4 Mataram.

Abstract

An urgent issue related to national identity is the promotion of religious moderation, a responsibility shared by all sectors of society. Religious moderation should not be confined to religious education alone, but rather be embedded across all academic disciplines, including mathematics. This study investigates the trends of religious moderation within mathematics education research between 2019 and 2025, employing the bibliometric analysis method. The review focuses on mathematical content, research methodologies, levels of implementation, and country. Data for the study were sourced from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect and Dimensions AI databases. The selected publications were screened using the Systematic Review Accelerator and mapped through the PRISMA framework, based on predefined inclusion criteria. There are 14 (fourteen) articles assessed. Analytical tools included VOSviewer 1.6.20, RStudio-2024.09.0-375, and Microsoft Excel 365. The results reveal two key findings: (1) the concept of fractions is the most frequently associated with religious moderation practices in mathematics classroom, (2) The predominant approach employed by scholars to examine the incorporation of religious moderation in mathematical education is library research, and (3) the integration of religious moderation into mathematics education is primarily observed at the elementary level and is largely limited to the Indonesian context. Therefore, efforts to incorporate religious moderation into mathematics teaching should be expanded across all levels of education.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of STEM-based learning integrated with the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach in enhancing eighth-grade students’ relational mathematical understanding at SMP Negeri 1 Batukliang during the 2025/2026 academic year. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method employing a pretest–posttest control group design was used. The population comprised all eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Batukliang (206 students). Using purposive sampling, two classes were selected: Class VIII3 as the control group and Class VIII4 as the experimental group, involving a total of 56 students. Data were collected through an essay-type test measuring relational mathematical understanding, administered at the pretest and posttest stages. Data analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS version 27, including normality and homogeneity tests, N-Gain analysis, and an Independent Samples t-test. The results showed that the average N-Gain score of the experimental class was 0.4906 (moderate category), which was higher than that of the control class at 0.2889 (low category). Furthermore, the t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings indicate that STEM-based learning integrated with the PjBL approach is effective in improving students’ relational mathematical understanding.

Abstract

Minimnya pengalaman guru dalam mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai moderasi beragama ke dalam pembelajaran matematika melatarbelakangi dilakukannya kegiatan ini. Program ini bertujuan memberikan pendampingan kepada guru dalam menyusun materi pembelajaran matematika berbasis nilai moderasi beragama. Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan melibatkan 21 guru matematika tingkat MA atau SMA dari berbagai sekolah di Pulau Lombok. Rangkaian kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu identifikasi kebutuhan, pelaksanaan program, serta evaluasi. Hasil identifikasi kebutuhan menunjukkan bahwa penanaman nilai moderasi beragama dalam proses pembelajaran matematika belum tersistematis dan terukur dengan baik, sehingga workshop ini menjadi urgen untuk dilakukan. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa guru mampu merancang materi matematika berbasis nilai moderasi beragama secara sistematis. Pada tahap evaluasi, para peserta diminta mengisi angket untuk memberikan respons terhadap proses pendampingan sebagai dasar untuk menilai tingkat efektivitas dan keberhasilan program. Diperoleh kategori respon peserta 93.41% yang mengindikasikan tingkat ketercapaian sangat baik dari kegiatan workshop. Pada masa mendatang perlu kajian kuantitatif maupun kualitatif terhadap kemampuan guru dan calon guru matematika dalam mempersiapkan skenario pembelajaran berbasis moderasi beragama.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence) menuntut mahasiswa untuk memiliki kemampuan adaptif dalam memanfaatkannya sebagai media pembelajaran digital, khususnya dalam menyelesaikan persoalan matematika yang kompleks seperti kalkulus. Kegiatan ini menjadi penting sebagai upaya meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran berbasis teknologi di perguruan tinggi. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hard skill mahasiswa dalam memanfaatkan Math AI sebagai media pembelajaran digital pada mata kuliah kalkulus. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif yang mengintegrasikan penyampaian materi, praktik langsung, dan diskusi kritis. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 64 mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi jenjang sarjana sebagai mitra. Sistem evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan angket skala Likert yang terdiri dari 10 butir pernyataan untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta setelah mengikuti pelatihan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemahaman peserta berada pada rentang 66,67% hingga 77,78% yang mencerminkan kategori pemahaman baik hingga sangat baik. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan Math AI efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam menyelesaikan soal kalkulus secara lebih efisien dan sistematis.
