Abstract

This article aim to deskription (1) relation unsure, (2) estate unsure, (3) marriage unsure to be found in novel Hidup adalah Perjuangan by Azwar Sutan Malaka. The data of this study is copy or words written of object that direct to Minangkabau culture. This research use approximation sociology literature. The results of this research are (1) relation in Minangkabau is matrilineal relation. In the matrilineal system, women have fuction like the joint heirs of tribe and have estate, (2) in tradision Minangkabau, estate dont to sell, but the women do sell estate, so that appear a problem, and (3) marriage in Minangkabau have two arrangement , based on religion and tradision. Based on religion is talk marriage settlement, but based on tradision is follow some marriage manners , that is a propose, marriage and manjapuik marapulai. And if happened separation, dead separated or life separated, so according tradision a man beck to home with family.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the meaning contained in the text Pasambahan Manjapuik Marapulai in Kenagarian Koto-Tinggi Sub-district Baso Regency Agam Districtusing semiotic theory. This study uses semiotic theory proposed by Charle Sanders Pierce. This research looks at the signs contained in text form Pasambahan Manjapuik Marapulai symbol, index and icon. Data collected through library research, observation, interviews and some of the data taken from the internet. Data analysis was done descriptively. The results of these findings are the first, there are 31signs symbols, 5 marks icon and 3marks index. The results of this study are the signs contained in the text Pasambahan Manjapuik Marapulai. Next, look for the inner meaning behind these signs. The meaning contained in the  only explicit but implied meaning of meaning and cultural semiotic meanings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are for describing (1) Individual social conflict that with his self  in novel  Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi, (2) Individual social conflict with his family in novel Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi, and (3) Individual social conflict with social environment in novel Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi. The data of this research are quotation or the words were written by object that will have been observed, which going to individual social conflict with his self, family, and social environment. The source of this research is Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru, the novel by Khairul Jasmi. There are ways for taking the data, those are : (1) reading and understanding  the novel that wanted to observed, (2) marking all the event that topic going to the problems research, and (3) make a data list based on data list format.  The invention of this research are individual social conflict in the novel Lonceng Cinta di Sekolah Guru by Khairul Jasmi involves the individual social conflict that with his self , with his family, and with social environment.

Abstract

This article describes: (1) Layla-Majnun novel structure Sholeh Gisyamar work, (2) the main character in the novel psychological Layla-Majnun works Sholeh Gisyamar of aspects of id, ego, superego. This data was collected by way of reading the novel Layla-Majnun Gisymar Sholeh work, marking the language related to the research problem. The findings of the research, a novel structure-Majnun Layla Gisymar Sholeh work consisting of plot, setting, characterization, theme and the message, style, and point of view. While the discussion of the psychological aspects of the figure consists of the id, ego, and superego. Based on the results of this study concluded that, aspects of the main character's personality is more likely to attach great importance to the principle of the id ego gratification. Aspects of the ego is not balanced with the character superego aspect, then in the event of self-awareness on the figure, the ego back into play so that the resulting chaos and abnormal action. So the role of the superego in Layla-Majnun novel works Sholeh Gisymar only slightly.

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe the types of directive speech act, the function of directive speech act, speaking strategy, and the context of directive speech act in Mandailing used by the clothes seller at a traditional market in Ujung Gading, West Pasaman. The type of this research is qualitative with descriptive method. The technique used in data collecting is by recording and making a note about speech phenomenon in Mandailing used by the clothes seller at a traditional market in Ujung Gading, West Pasaman. Based on the research result and the study, can be concluded that as following. First, there are five types of directive speech act used by the clothes seller: (a) advising speech act, (b) permitting speech act, (c) preventing speech act, (d) begging speech act, and (e) commanding speech act. Second, there are five functions of directive speech act used by the clothes seller: (a) competitive, the locution purpose competes with the social purpose, (b) convivial, the locution purpose equals to the social purpose, (c) collaborative, the locution purpose ignores the social purpose, and (d) conflictive, the locution purpose opposites to the social purpose. Third, there are four speech strategies: (a) speech frankly without any conventionality, (b) speech by conventionality with a positive politeness, (c) speech by conventionality with a negative politeness, and (d) speech obscurely.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to: (a) to describe of herself character in the Novel Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburraman El Shirazy and Novel Mataraisa by Abidah El Khalieqy, (b) to describe of same and different of herself character Novel Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburraman El Shirazy and Novel Mataraisa by Abidah El Khalieqy. The source  of this study is herself unsure in the Novel Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburrahman El Shirazyand Novel Mataraisa by Abidah El Khalieqy. Technic of analyze is done with the descriptive theory. The find of study is the same character of herself in the Novel Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburrahman El Shirazy with Novel Mataraisa by Abidah El Khalieqy is : (a) hard worker, (b) like of challenge, (c) like by some people, (d) it has not like of itself. The different of herself character in the Novel Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburraman El Shirazy and Novel Mataraisa by Abidah El Khalieqy is: (a) the differnt of education, (b) the different of life, (c) the different to find of soulmate, (d)  the different of faced problem, (e) the different of others faced.

Abstract

The study aims to describe'' (1) social distortion against the prevailing norms in society contained in novel The glowing hearts by Prasetyo Wiwid, (2) The causes of social deviation in novel The glowing hearts by Prasetyo Wiwid, (3) The causes of irregularities contained in novel The glowing hearts Prasetyo Wiwid work. This research is a qualitative research which used descriptive method and used mimesis approach, to see how the social equation in the novel The glowing hearts by Prasetyo Wiwid, the research was done by analyzing the novel by describing the structure of the novel, classifying the deviated event by each character and finally made the conclusion.

Abstract

The purpose of this article: (a) to describe story of episode novel Bidadari-bidadari Surga created by Tere Liye, (b) to describe story of episode film Bidadari-bidadari Surga director by Sony Gaokasak, (c) to describe similar and different story of episode novel with film Bidadari-bidadari Surga. The Data of this study were story of episode novel Bidadari-bidadari Surga created by Tere Liye and film Bidadari-bidadari Surga director by Sony Gaokasak. Analyzed technique do with ekranisasi or transformasi theory. The findings of the study showed that the decrease story of episode novel Bidadari-bidadari Surga created by Tere Liye in film Bidadari-bidadari Surga director by Sony Gaokasak become to 85 story of episode. Increase story of episode in film Bidadari-bidadari Surga director by Sony Gaokasak become to 40 story of episode. The happening of change of event variation, figure, and novel story episode background in novel Bidadari-bidadari Surga created by Tere Liye and film Bidadari-bidadari Surga director by Sony Gaokasak become to 35 story of episode.

Abstract

This article aims to describe: (1) The folklore structure of local legends of Baimpik Stone, (2) social function of local folklore legend of Baimpik Stone in Nagari Parambahan of Bukit Sundi District of Solok. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. Data gathered from informant through two stages, namely: (1) The recording phase of local folklore legend Baimpik Stone, (2) The stage of data collection about the storytelling environment. Data on the storytelling environment is gathered with recording, observation, and interview techniques. The data in this study was analyzed in four phases, namely: (1) data identification phase, (2) phase of data classification or analysis, (3) stage of discussion and the conclusion, (4) the level of reporting.  Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the folklore structure of local legends of Baimpik Stone in Nagari Parambahan Bukit Sundi District Solok consists of: (1) language style, (2) Point of View, (3) Figure and character, (4) background, the background of the local legend of the folklore of the Baimpik Stone is a backdrop of place, background, and social background, (5) plot/plot, Groove/plot in the folklore of local legend Baimpik Stone is a conventional groove, and has three stages namely, early stage Introductions, middle stage or midle, and final stage or breakout, (6) Themes, and (7) orders. Social function folklore local legend of Baimpik Stone in Nagari Parambahan Bukit Sundi District Solok: (1) entertain, (2) Educate, (3) bequeath, and (4) traditions.

Abstract

This paper contains a discussion of people’s belief in the expressions of prohibition in Kanagarian VII Koto Talago Kecamatan Guguak Kabupaten Limo Puluah Koto. This research is a qualitative by using deskriptive methods. The data of this study are the result of interviews about popular belief in expressions of prohibitions regarding pregnancy, childbirth, and childhood. After collecting and analyzing data from seven informants, there were 64 (sixty four) data about prohibition expression. The analysis of this article takes the form of social structure and function of people’s belief in the expression of prohibitions. The structure of the prohibited expression is divided into a two-part structure and a three-part structure. The social function contained in the prohibition is as education for the pregnant person. This can be seen from the door used as a place in and out the house, pregnant people should sit in the house so as not to prevent people who will go in and out the house.
