Abstract

This research will describe the violence against women that can be seen physically and verbally in Ken Terate's novel Minoel. This research uses a type of literary research that was developed using descriptive methods. The data source is Minoel's novel, written by Ken Terate. The data were analyzed in the following ways: 1) classifying data, 2) then interpreting it by connecting findings with reality while criticizing the results of the analysis carried out and connecting them with existing theories, and 3) concluding the data analysis and writing reports on the results of the analysis. However, the data will be checked beforehand to avoid errors. The results of this study indicate the forms, causes, and impacts of violence against women.

Abstract

The type of researchi conductedi by researchers is literary research using descriptive methods. Descriptive methode is a method of findingi facts with the righti interpretation of the pbject of research. The purpose of the descriptive method is to make description, pictures or drawings of data and facts in systematic, factual and accurate manner. The data collectioni technique was carried out in several stages: (1) Read and understand the drama script Anggun Nan Tongga as a whole carefully and repeatedly. (2) Marking the dialogue according to the research problem. This study aimsi to describe the structural elementsi, the functions of the structural elements, and the relationship between structural elements in the drama script AnggunI Nan Tongga by Wisran Hadi. From the result of the discussion found in the previous section, it can be concluded that the analysis of the structure of the play Anggun Nan Tongga has three stages, namely (1) Analyzing the structural elements of the play Anggun Nan Tongga. (2) Describe the function of the structural elements of the play Anggun Nan Tongga. (3) Describei the relationshipi between the elements of the Anggun Nan Tongga drama script structure.

Abstract

This research aims to identify: (1) the form of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi, (2) the cause of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi, (3) the impact of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi. The object used in this research is the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi published in 2002. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The data taken in this study are words, phrases, clauses and sentences related to the form, cause, and impact of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi. The instrumental used in this research is the writer himself by using the help of other instruments in the form of recording sheets. The technique of data collection used is reading and understanding the novel, determining the main character, and searching and recording data related to the research problem contained in the novel. Analyzing data techniques used are identifying and classifying data. Next, interpret the data, and conclude the data analysis. The results of the study mention (1) the form of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi in the form of personal conflict, group conflict, and conflict in society. (2) the causes of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi are caused by differences between individuals or individuals, differences in social class, differences in interests, and social change. (3) the impact of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi includes the destruction of group unity, personality change, and the destruction of social values and norms.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of social problems, the causes of social problems, the impact of social problems contained in Adimas Immanuel’s Surga Anjing Liar novel. The subject of this research is Adimas Immanuel’s Surga Anjing Liar novel, published in 2020. This research is a type of literary research the uses a descriptive method. The research instrument is the researcher who uses instrument tools in the from of recording sheet and data analysis. The result of the study are the form of social problems include; poverty, crime, family disorganization, war, violation of societal norm, environmental and bereaucratic problems, factors that cause social problem are caused by economic, biological, and psychological factors, the impact of social problems can be in the form of increased crime, gap between people rich dan poor, group divisions, emergence of deviant behavior dan rising unemployment.

Abstract

Gender injustice is treatment received by one gender which causes unfair treatment. These forms of injustice include marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, violence and double workloads. The purpose of this research is to describe how gender injustice is experienced by female characters in the novel Yuni by Ade Ubaidil. This type of research is literary research with a descriptive method. The data source in this research is Ade Ubaidil's novel Yuni. Data collection techniques consist of in-depth reading, data marking, and data inventory. Data analysis techniques consist of classifying data, describing and interpreting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study found forms of gender injustice such as marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, violence and double workload for main female characters.

Abstract

This research aim to describe a textological study of the issue of how the Hikayat Si Miskin manuscript text from the Harvad University - Houghton Library/ ms_Indo_18-METS collection was translated into handwritten Arabic-Malay script, the appearance of which is much different from the standard form of the letters of this script. This is the most important part in the textological study of the subfield of philology before the editing of texts from the old Malay Arabic-Malay script into Latin script is presented. His identity as the author is not included at the front of his work, but at the end of the manuscript called the colophon. The presentation of a text that has been cleaned of all writing errors paves the way for further study of the content of the text from various aspects related to the existence of the form and content of the text being studied, such as a study of the structural content of the text, a study of linguistic aspects, a study of social values. and culture, it is even possible to examine historical elements, because manuscripts are historical documents that describe the life systems and patterns of old society. The method used to discuss text issues and content that can be studied in various related scientific disciplines is the standard text criticism method, namely a philological method that attempts to re-present classical texts by criticizing and correcting corrupt texts. In accordance with the focus of the discussion which focuses on writing and visual text writing, the research results found writing irregularities and errors in writing lacunae, substitutions, additions, transpositions, dittography, and haplography. The most common writing errors are substitution errors.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss: (1) women's self-image and (2) women's social image in the novel Dompet Ayah Shoes Ibu by J.S. Khairen. This type of research is literary research using descriptive methods. The research data is a set of language in the form of the narrator's explanation, the character's behavior and speech. Data was collected by reading and understanding the novel, marking words, phrases, clauses and sentences, and taking an inventory of women's images. The data was analyzed in the stages of identifying and classifying the data, analyzing and interpreting the data, drawing conclusions from the data, and reporting it in the form of a thesis. This research found: (1) women's self-image consists of a physical image: strong like men and having a firm face, and a psychological image: hard worker, determined, optimistic, never gives up, noble-hearted, high spirited, and caring. (2) the social image of women consists of the image in the family: niece, sister, wife, children, and mother and the social image in society: students, friends, teachers, and residents.

Abstract

Social problems are problems that must be understood and studied. The aim of this research is to describe the form, causes and impacts of social problems in the novel Kami (Not) Jongos Berdasi by J.S.Khairen. The object of this research is the novel Kami (Not) Jongos Berdasi by J.S.Khairen, which was published in 2019. This research is literary research using descriptive methods. Words, phrases, clauses and sentences are data that show the form, causes and impacts of social problems in the novel Kami (Not) Jongos Berdasi by J.S.Khairen. The instrument for this research was the author himself with the help of a recording sheet. Data collection techniques include reading and understanding the novel, marking words, phrases, clauses and sentences, literature review and taking an inventory of the characters in the novel. Data triangulation technique is used as a validation technique. The data analysis technique is classifying and analyzing the data, then interpreting the data and concluding the data analysis. The results of the research state that (1) the forms of social problems in the novel are poverty, crime, family disorganization, adolescent problems, population problems and violence problems, (2) the causes of social problems in the novel are caused by economic factors, biological factors and biopsychological factors, ( 3) the impact of social problems in the novel in the form of increasing crime rates, social inequality, the emergence of deviant behavior, increasing unemployment and group divisions.

Abstract

This research is conducted to document the structure, categories, and social functions of Minangkabau proverbs at Nagari Sianok VI Suku Agam Regency. The aim of this research is to describe structure, categories, and social functions of Minangkabau proverbs at Nagari Sianok VI Suku Agam Regency. This research is a qualitative using a descriptive methods. The data were conducted by doing interview using recording sheers, voice recording device, and interview guideline. The results of this research is revealing 42 Minangkabau proverbs at Nagari Sianok VI Suku Agam Regency which have: physical structures (diction, imagery, figure of speech, typography, and concrete words); internal structures (themes, feelings, tones, and messages); categories (animals, plants, part of body, human, and nature); and social functions (educational tools, enforces and supervisors of norms, instruments for traditions and cultural institutions, and projection systems). This research concludes that Minangkabau proverbs have an influence on customs and normative values at Nagari Sianok VI Suku Agam Regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the structure and function of the treatment mantra of the Nagari Malai V Suku community, Batang Gasan District, Padang Pariaman Regency. This research is categorized as qualitative using descriptive method. The research uses data in the form of texts of community treatment mantras in Nagari Malai V Suku, Batang Gasan District, Padang Pariaman Regency. The instrument of this research is the researcher himself. Data were collected through three stages, namely: (1) literature review, (2) observation and (3) interviews with informants. Data validation was carried out using triangulation techniques. After the data were collected, the data were analyzed with five stages: transcription, transiteration, classification or data analysis, drawing conclusions, and reporting. The results of the research on the structure of the treatment mantra found three parts, namely: opening, content, and closing. The functions of the treatment mantra are divided into five, namely: (a) a system for projection, (b) institutions in cultural institutions, (c) a means to educate, (d) a tool to enforce norms, and (e) a means of treatment. There are three structures in the research, namely the opening, content, and closing structures.
