Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia has a very large number of watersheds and has a very diverse size. Damage to several watersheds in Indonesia has also occurred and often results in catastrophic floods and droughts that threaten people. The presence of the RRI Model with its capabilities will help contribute to watershed management in order to solve water resource problems. The RRI model is a two-dimensional (2D) model capable of simulating runoff, rainfall, and flood inundation simultaneously. The use of this model in Indonesia has reached 13 times which was compiled based on the number of publications on the application of the RRI model. All of these publications have passed peer-reviewed papers from both journals and conference papers. Applications have been made in several places including the Solo watershed, the Upper Citarum watershed, the Batanghari watershed, and the upstream Brantas watershed. Given the increasing number of problematic watersheds in Indonesia, the use of this model has the prospect and relevancy of being carried out in other watersheds. However, until now, researchers have had challenges in building hydrological models because of the constraints on the availability of climatological and hydrological data in the watershed. Therefore, in addition to improving the data measuring infrastructure in the field, remote sensing techniques are also needed in an effort to generate targeted watershed information. In fact, the effort to utilize remote sensing in generating unmeasurable data in the field has been successfully conducted in several studies.

Abstract

One of the current educational goals is to train students to communicate in the teaching and learning process and have the skills to think in enhancing learning outcomes, one of which is critical thinking skills. This study aimed to compare students' critical thinking skills taught by multimedia-assisted mathematical habits of mind (MHM) learning strategies and those taught by conventional learning strategies for students at SMPS Ummul Ayman Samalanga. It uses a quasi-experimental method. The population of this study is all grade 8 students at the Private Yunior High School (SMPS) Ummul Ayman Samalanga. Two classes of grade 8 were randomly selected as experimental and control groups. Data was collected by using pre-test and post-test procedures. The results of data analysis by using the independent samples t-test showed that the value of t-observation is 9.53 and the value of t-table is 1.68. So, because the value of t-observation is greater than the value of t-table, it can be concluded that students' mathematical critical thinking skills taught by MHM learning strategies are better than the critical thinking skills of those taught by conventional learning strategies. The conclusion can be reached because the instruction in the experiment class motivated students to be more active in reconstructing teaching materials individually and in pairs.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop a dyscalculia test instrument for early identification of children with dyscalculia learning disorders through a series of validity and reliability tests involving various experts from various related fields. This research uses the Tessmer model in developing test instruments through several stages, including: preliminary, self evaluation, prototyping (expert reviews, one-to-one, and small group), and field tests. The research results show that each research variable, namely X1 (type A), X2 (type B), and X3 (Dyscalculia), has met high validity. All question items in these three variables have an r-value that exceeds the r-table, ensuring that the instrument measures what it is intended to measure and reflects the construct accurately. The reliability test results show that each variable has a raw_alpha above 0.80, which reflects very high reliability. This shows that the instrument has the ability to produce consistent and reliable results under repeated use and on different samples. So that the instrument developed can be used to identify and diagnose dyscalculic children in helping dyscalculic children overcome the difficulty of learning mathematics. Abstract

This study aimed to know the components of the student creativity in problem solving that can be achieved through Model Eliciting Activities in preservice’s teacher of mathematics education of PTKIN in Aceh. This Research used qualitatif approach, since in this study want to describe the reality on the field namely data about the studets’ creativity in solving maths problem. The result showed that the componentsof flexibility obtained by contruction principle, the reality principle, and the self-just my assesment principle. Even so, there are student who got no flexibility with the third principle of the MEA, but only with the principles, the only reality MEA principle and the effective prototype principle. Mean while, the component of fluency is gained student by analysis of the construct documentation principle. The last component of creativity that is obtained through the construct shareability and reusability and the effective prototype principle. However there are students who do not obtain theses components due to the absence of new student-generated in carrying out problem-solving.

Abstract

This research aimed to formulate a model of mathematical learning difficulties for children with dyscalculia to help children with dyscalculia overcome mathematics problems at school. This research is important to carry out considering that dyscalculia is a serious problem experienced by many students throughout the world. The SDTA model was built by analogizing the STIR model to non-communicable diseases. In this study, of 1247 students who conducted a series of tests (screening tests), there were 121 students, or 9.7% were initially identified as having dyscalculia. Furthermore, observations were carried out and confirmation was carried out with parents and teachers so that 119 students tested positive for dyscalculia. The research results showed that after intervention through treatment by the teacher, dyscalculia students experienced a very drastic decrease, especially in the material on recognizing and ordering numbers. Likewise, the results of model simulations on multiplication operation material illustrated the decline in students with dyscalculia. Specifically for division operations, the treatment process took relatively longer. Therefore, the simulation results in the SDTA model reflected students who are identified as having dyscalculia, along with planned intervention/ treatment, students could pass through the mathematics learning phase successfully.

Abstract

The non-communicable diseases have become the top cause of global mortality. One of them is stroke, which also become the first cause of disability worldwide. To help rehabilitate the upper extremities function of stroke survivors, a rehabilitation aid robot is developed, also to bridge the gap between patient and medical staff numbers. An end-effector-based rehabilitation robot is one proposed device. In this case, a switched reluctance motor (SRM) can be utilized as the actuator for its simplicity, robustness, high low-speed torque, and low cost. Thus, this paper proposes a design of SRM to be used as the actuator of an end-effector-based wrist rehabilitation robot. The proposed design is made based on the required torque. To extract the outputs, calculation and simulation using finite element magnetic FEMM 4.2 are conducted. The results show that the SRM produces enough torque, according to references. Moreover, rotor tooth width reduction is not preferred, as it increases the negative torque even though it raises the saliency ratio and cuts the mass of the motor.

Abstract

One of the phenomenon in marine science that is often encountered is the phenomenon of water waves. Waves that occur below the surface of seawater are called internal waves. One of the mathematical models that can represent solitary internal waves is the modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation. Many methods can be used to construct the solution of the mKdV wave equation, one of which is the extended F-expansion method. The purpose of this study is to determine the solution of the mKdV wave equation using the extended F-expansion method. The result of solving the mKdV wave equation is the exact solutions. The exact solutions of the mKdV wave equation are expressed in the Jacobi elliptic functions, trigonometric functions, and hyperbolic functions. From this research, it is expected to be able to add insight and knowledge about the implementation of the innovative methods for solving wave equations.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop mathematics learning tools to help children with special needs of dyscalculia in elementary school. The procedural development of the device was through a 4-D model consisting of four phases; defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. However, based on the research objectives, this development was limited only to the development stage (develop), which is to the learning device testing activities. So the development of learning tools in this study consisted of three main stages, namely: defining, designing, and development. The results of this study illustrated that learning devices for children with dyscalculia learning disorders could help children more easily deal with learning difficulties. Specifically, it is on the topic of sequencing numbers, addition, and subtraction of integers.
