Abstract

This study aimed to develop learning tools to help children with learning disabilities of comorbid dyscalculia-dyslexia. The learning tools were developed using the 4D model. Each stage of development was conducted based on the materials focused on in this research, namely the topics of recognizing and understanding numbers, sorting numbers, and operating numbers. This study involved 280 students, ages between 7 and 8 years old, from four elementary schools. Students took a series of tests, and 11 students were found with comorbid dyscalculia-dyslexia. The results of this study provided an overview related to the learning tools developed, tested, and implemented in mathematics learning for students with dyscalculia and dyslexia. This finding was indicated by the analysis results of recognizing numbers, sorting numbers, and operating numbers using paired-sample t-tests (p< 0.05). The results showed increased students' essential mathematics ability based on the pretest and posttest scores.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the possibility of implementing the KdV equations for policymaking in vulnerable communities. It is crucial as Indonesia is located between two continents and two large oceans, significantly influencing marine phenomena, such as the frequent occurrence of extreme waves. Additionally, seismic activity can cause earthquakes with the potential to trigger tsunamis. Therefore, continuous research on extreme waves and tsunamis is required. This research provides a semi-analytical solution to the KdV equation using disturbance parameters, carried out from the first to the seventh order, to generate maximum waves. In this study, the modified KdV equation considers the bichromatic wave input , 2 wavenumber expansion equations using perturbation theory and Taylor series, and η expansion using perturbation theory to produce a seventh-order solution. This solution differs from third-order and fifth-order solutions in the context of higher-order influences, with the peak distance found to be closer than the initial point. It may indicate that the higher-order effects of the solution influence the maximum peak of the wave. The results of this research contribute to a progressive step in helping communities vulnerable to extreme waves and tsunamis.

Abstract

One of the current educational goals is to train students to communicate in the teaching and learning process and have the skills to think in enhancing learning outcomes, one of which is critical thinking skills. This study aimed to compare students' critical thinking skills taught by multimedia-assisted mathematical habits of mind (MHM) learning strategies and those taught by conventional learning strategies for students at SMPS Ummul Ayman Samalanga. It uses a quasi-experimental method. The population of this study is all grade 8 students at the Private Yunior High School (SMPS) Ummul Ayman Samalanga. Two classes of grade 8 were randomly selected as experimental and control groups. Data was collected by using pre-test and post-test procedures. The results of data analysis by using the independent samples t-test showed that the value of t-observation is 9.53 and the value of t-table is 1.68. So, because the value of t-observation is greater than the value of t-table, it can be concluded that students' mathematical critical thinking skills taught by MHM learning strategies are better than the critical thinking skills of those taught by conventional learning strategies. The conclusion can be reached because the instruction in the experiment class motivated students to be more active in reconstructing teaching materials individually and in pairs.

Abstract

Dyscalculia is a kind of problems facing by many pupils beside of low-level reading skills. In fact, reading and basic arithmetic operation skills are very important in learning other subjects. The purpose of this study was to examine learning problems of dyscalculia students. The subjects of this study were five Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang. The results showed that dyscalculia students face some difficulties in understanding the concepts or the process of calculation since they find some difficulties in visual processing. Moreover, dyscalculia students also face some difficulties in counting the numbers according to their sequences, memorizing and applying mathematical operations. As the consequence, dyscalculia students face some difficulties in solving even a simple mathematical problem.

Abstract

This study aimed to know the components of the student creativity in problem solving that can be achieved through Model Eliciting Activities in preservice’s teacher of mathematics education of PTKIN in Aceh. This Research used qualitatif approach, since in this study want to describe the reality on the field namely data about the studets’ creativity in solving maths problem. The result showed that the componentsof flexibility obtained by contruction principle, the reality principle, and the self-just my assesment principle. Even so, there are student who got no flexibility with the third principle of the MEA, but only with the principles, the only reality MEA principle and the effective prototype principle. Mean while, the component of fluency is gained student by analysis of the construct documentation principle. The last component of creativity that is obtained through the construct shareability and reusability and the effective prototype principle. However there are students who do not obtain theses components due to the absence of new student-generated in carrying out problem-solving.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the solving skill of students on mathematical problem through online learning during COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in solving the problem related area and perimeter of trapezium. Data collection is conducted by performing problem solving skill test and interview. Furthermore, the data analyses is conducted by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion formulation. This study concludes that students have very good ability to solve the problem during the online learning through whatsapp group and g-meet. Detail of the steps used in examining the problem solving abilty as follow: 1) problem comprehension; students as research subject able to explain the problem by using their own terms, analyse the problem by stating the known and unsolved variables and illustrating the provided pictures 2) planning the problem solving; subject can determine other condition from the problem, selecting and structuring the steps to solve the problems 3) implementing the problem solving; subject solved the problem by using the selected formula accordingly 4) cross-checking; subject cross-checked the solutions by using other method and compared the results.
