Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The Nosarara Farmers Group in Binangga Village, Marawola District, often faces challenges in the sustainability of rice productivity, namely attacks by golden apple snails (Pomacea canaliculata). Golden apple snails have the potential to be converted into high-value resources, as bio-PGRs and bioactivators in increasing rice plant productivity. The purpose of this Community Service (PkM) activity is to provide education, understanding, and skills to rice farmer groups in Binangga Village. This activity was carried out from September to October 2024 in Binangga Village, Marawola District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. The PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) Approach method was used in this activity to collect, analyze, and use information about community conditions and needs in a participatory manner. PRA prioritizes active community involvement in development and problem-solving with partners. The stages of the activities carried out began with preparation by coordinating with farmer groups and agricultural extension workers, socialization/extension activities, training and demonstrations, and evaluation of activities through monitoring. The results of the Community Service Program (PKM) activities showed an increase in farmers' understanding and skills, with 95% of farmer group members actively engaging in discussions and Q&A sessions through outreach, training, and field demonstrations. Farmer groups were highly enthusiastic about adopting new technologies, demonstrating the program's potential for sustainability in the future.

Abstract

The fisheries sector plays a crucial role in food security and the economy, particularly through aquaculture. One rapidly growing method is the biofloc system, which enhances production efficiency by utilizing microorganisms to process organic waste into biomass that can be consumed by fish. This technology not only improves feed efficiency but also reduces environmental impact. Palu City holds great potential for developing biofloc-based aquaculture due to its abundant water resources and supporting infrastructure. This study aims to identify the factors influencing biofloc aquaculture businesses in Palu City, analyze their technical and economic feasibility, and formulate sustainable development strategies. The research employs a descriptive qualitative and quantitative approach using purposive sampling techniques. The applied analysis includes descriptive analysis, business feasibility analysis (BCR, BEP, and PP), marketing margins, and SWOT analysis. The findings of this study are expected to provide strategic recommendations for fish farmers and stakeholders to develop biofloc systems more effectively and sustainably in Palu City.

Abstract

Palolo district in Sigi regency has great potential in developing maize production as part of efforts to realize regional food self-sufficiency. However, increasing maize production in this area faces various challenges, including land limitations, climate change, and access to technology and markets. The study aims to determine the potential for increasing maize production based on the support of internal and external factors in Palolo district, Sigi regency. Sampling was done with a purposive sampling technique where members were selected intentionally, namely on the potential for increasing corn production in Palolo District, by tracing the population sampled by as many as 26 sample corn farmers. The data analysis used is SWOT analysis. The results of the research show that the potential for increasing maize production in Palolo district is supported by internal factors, among others: the existence of human resources in maize farming, the existence of superior seeds from the government, the increase in maize production, the existence of fertilizer subsidies, spray assistance from the government, and the direction of extension workers to farmers. External factors, such as the development of agricultural technology, the local government's support for maize farming, the increasing market demand for food, the availability of affordable facilities and infrastructure, and farmers' understanding of maize farming, also support this potential.
