Abstract

Abstract Persuasion or Attitude Change has been a main concern in the study of psychology. There have been many theories which evaluate the extent of variables in changing attitudes. However, none of them have conclusive results. Furthermore, the trend in the research of attitude change has been in the context of business or sales. There is very little to none research made to explain persuasion in religious sermons. Therefore, this study is meant to find how people could change their attitudes in religion. In particular, the subject used in this study is Zakir Naik, a well-known muslim proselytizer. He is well-versed in the field of comparative religion and has been holding talks and debates between religions. Many people from Christianity, Catholics, Hinduism etc. have become converts to Islam because of his speech. In this study, it was found that he used powerless language markers in order to persuade people into converting to Islam. He used powerless language markers to diminish Christianity and compliment Islam. Granted, with his vast knowledge of both theology he was capable of selecting certain verses in Christianity and proving that they are incoherent. Thus, people who once believed in Christianity, converted to Islam.Keywords: Persuasion, Attitudde Change, Religion, HedgesAbstrakPersuasi atau Attitude Change (perubahan pendirian) adalah suatu bahasan utama di bidang ilmu psikologi. Sudah ada beragam teori yang dibentuk untuk menentukan factor-faktor yang memengaruhi perubahan pendirian. Namun, belum ditemukan hasil yang konklusif. Selain itu, trend penelitian perubahan pendiriankebanyakan berada di konteks bisnis atau penjualan. Sangat sedikit sekali penelitian yang berfokus kepada ceramah keagamaan. Khususnya, subyek yang digunakan di dalam studi ini adalah Zakir Naik, seorang Dai Islam terkenal. Beliau sangat ahli di bidang perbandingan agama, dan beliau telah mengadakan acara dialog dan debat keagamaan. Banyak orang dari agama Kristen, Katolik, Hindu, dll. telah berpindah ke Islam dikarenakan ceramah beliau. Di studi ini, ditemukan bahwa beliau menggunakan hedges untuk membujuk orang masuk ke Islam. Beliau menggunakan hedges untuk mendiskreditkan ajaran agama Kristen dan memuji Islam. Tentu saja, dengan keluasan wawasannya atas ajaran teologi keduanya, beliau mampu memilih dan memilah suatu ayat di dalam Alkitab dan membuktikannya salah. Maka dari itu, penganut agama Kristen dapat terbujuk untuk masuk ke Islam.Kata kunci: Persuasi, Perubahan Pendirian, Agama, Hedges

Abstract

Barriers to international collaboration include cultural differences, language, and education systems, as well as administrative, and logistical challenges, and resistance to innovation. The purpose of this community service is to enhance the quality of education through curriculum development, international collaboration, teaching innovations, and global educational awareness. Implementation method: using a PAR approach, involving all parties, with supporting media such as laptops, office supplies, activity implementation, and evaluation. The results of the activities show very positive outcomes with a significant impact on participants. Evaluations of ICFASS24, FlexS, and Mandarin Language Classes indicate high satisfaction levels, with the majority of participants rating on a scale of 5. ICFASS24 successfully expanded academic insights and developed participants' managerial skills, while FlexS was effective in building excellent personality and self-development through an Islamic psychospiritual approach. The Mandarin Language Class provided significant benefits in improving language skills and participants' global perspectives, enhancing teaching competencies, and preparing them to face global challenges. Conclusion: This service successfully enhanced the quality of education, expanded academic insights, developed skills, and prepared participants to face global challenges.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the primary causes of overheating in the CAT 18 Auxiliary Engine aboard the AHTS Logindo Stamina vessel and to evaluate its impact on the vessel’s operational performance. Overheating has been found to significantly reduce Engine efficiency, increase fuel consumption, and potentially cause blackouts that endanger navigational safety. The investigation identified three main causes: cracking of the seawater pump cover, failure of the thermostat due to prolonged use, and clogging of the sea chest strainer by marine debris. A qualitative descriptive method was applied, involving direct observation and interviews with the ship’s Engine crew. The mitigation efforts included repairing the seawater pump cover using high-temperature-resistant Devcon adhesive, replacing the damaged thermostat, and implementing a regular Plan Maintenance System (PMS). The findings underscore the critical importance of proper cooling system management and routine maintenance discipline in preventing overheating and maintaining the reliable operation of auxiliary Engines aboard ships.

Abstract

Fresh Water Generator (FWG) adalah permesinan bantu di kapal yang mengubah air laut menjadi air tawar melalui proses destilasi, dengan ejector pump sebagai komponen utama untuk menciptakan tekanan vakum. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi kinerja ejector pump secara kualitatif melalui wawancara dengan operator kapal dan pengamatan langsung. Analisis dilakukan secara deskriptif serta didukung tinjauan dokumen teknis dan pedoman perawatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa performa ejector pump dipengaruhi oleh suhu dan salinitas air laut, kebersihan sistem perpipaan, serta efektivitas perawatan berkala. Masalah umum yang ditemukan meliputi penurunan tekanan vakum akibat kotoran dan kerusakan karena kavitasi. Operator kapal menekankan pentingnya inspeksi rutin dan perawatan terjadwal untuk menjaga performa optimal. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa pengelolaan ejector pump yang baik, melalui jadwal perawatan yang konsisten dan peningkatan keterampilan operator, dapat meningkatkan efisiensi sistem FWG dalam mendukung kebutuhan air tawar di kapal Fresh Water Generator (FWG) is an auxiliary machinery on ships that converts seawater into fresh water through a distillation process, with the ejector pump serving as a key component in creating a vacuum pressure. This study evaluates the performance of the ejector pump qualitatively through interviews with ship operators and direct observation. The analysis is conducted descriptively and supported by a review of technical documents and maintenance guidelines. The results indicate that the performance of the ejector pump is influenced by seawater temperature and salinity, the cleanliness of the piping system, and the effectiveness of regular maintenance. Common issues found include reduced vacuum pressure due to dirt buildup and damage caused by cavitation. Ship operators emphasize the importance of routine inspections and scheduled maintenance to maintain optimal performance. The study concludes that proper management of the ejector pump, through a consistent maintenance schedule and improved operator skills, can enhance the efficiency of the FWG system in supporting the ship's freshwater needs

Abstract

Lubricating Oil purifier diatas kapal merupakan salah satu mesin bantu yang berperanan sangat penting untuk memisahkan minyak lumas dari air dan kotoran. Kegunaan dari minyak lumas yang sudah bersih ini adalah untuk mendukung pengopersian dari mesin induk dalam melumasi bagian-bagian yang bergerak. Dalam kegiatan ini lubricating oil purifier ini sangat dibutuhkan dan berperan penting untuk mensuplay minyak lumas untuk permesinan lain di atas kapal yang membutuhkan minyak lumas untuk pelumasan. Sistem kerja lubricating oil purifier secara garis besar dapat digambarkan dengan singkat yaitu minyak lumas yang berawal dari sumptank yang selanjutnya di pompa munggunakan feed pump menuju ke heater untuk memanaskan minyak lumas tersebut sesuai dengan suhu tertentu, kemudian minyak lumas baru menuju ke service tank dan siap untuk masuk ke tiap-tiap cylinder melalui beberapa proses. Berdasarkan uraian di atas penulis merencanakan melakukan penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kurang optimalnya kinerja lubricating oil purifier kapal dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menangani kinerja lubricating oil purifier. Metode yang dipakai adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berupa hasil observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Data penelitian kemudian dinalisis menggunakan Root Cause Analysis (RCA) yang digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis akar penyebab dari suatu masalah atau kejadian yang tidak diinginkan. Lubricating Oil purifier on board is one of the auxiliary machines that plays a very important role in separating lubricating oil from water and dirt. The use of this clean lubricating oil is to support the operation of the master engine in lubricating moving parts. In this activity, lubricating oil purifiers are needed and play an important role in supplying lubricating oil for other machinery on board that require lubricating oil for lubrication. The working system of lubricating oil purifier can be described in a nutshell, namely lubricating oil that starts from the sumptank which then in the pump uses the feed pump to heat the lubricating oil according to a certain temperature, then the new lubricating oil goes to the service tank and is ready to enter each cylinder through several processes. Based on the description above, the author plans to conduct a study with the aim of finding out the factors that cause the suboptimal performance of the lubricating oil purifier ship and to find out how efforts can be made to handle the performance of lubricating oil purifiers. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data sources in the form of observations, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The research data is then analyzed using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) which is used to identify and analyze the root cause of an unwanted problem or event.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi penyebab tidak optimalnya kinerja Fresh Water Maker (FWM) berteknologi Reverse Osmosis (RO) di kapal CTS. Bulk Java, serta dampaknya terhadap operasional kapal. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan engineer kapal, dan dokumentasi sistem. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penurunan produksi air tawar dari 1.000 L/jam menjadi 800 L/jam disebabkan oleh kerusakan pada mechanical seal feed pump, umur filter yang telah melebihi batas kerja, serta kebocoran pada pipa membran. Kondisi ini berdampak pada kebutuhan harian kru kapal dan menambah biaya operasional karena perlunya pengisian air tawar dari darat. Upaya perbaikan mencakup penggantian komponen rusak seperti impeller, filter, dan perbaikan pipa. Setelah overhaul, FWM kembali beroperasi optimal. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan inspeksi dan perawatan berkala untuk menjaga kinerja sistem FWM RO secara berkelanjutan.   This study aims to identify the causes of the suboptimal performance of the Reverse Osmosis-based Fresh Water Maker (FWM) system on the CTS. Bulk Java ship and its impact on ship operations. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method through direct observation, interviews with ship engineers, and system documentation. The findings show that the decline in freshwater production from 1,000 L/hour to 800 L/hour was due to damage to the feed pump’s mechanical seal, expired filter life, and leaks in the membrane pipe. This condition disrupted crew water supply and increased operational costs due to the need for freshwater bunkering from the shore. Repairs included replacing damaged components such as the impeller and filters, and repairing the leaking pipe. After the overhaul, the FWM resumed optimal performance. The study recommends routine inspection and maintenance to sustain the reliability of the FWM RO system
