Abstract

Literacy understanding has evolved significantly from mere reading and writing skills to encompass comprehension and use of technology. In the digital age, literacy now includes not only reading and writing but also speaking, understanding, and utilizing technology. These advanced literacy skills are crucial for addressing globalization challenges and enhancing social, cultural, and economic progress. Individuals with limited literacy skills may struggle to maximize their potential. To help students become better readers, one strategy employed is a 15-minute reading activity before lessons begin. Research applying the Research and Development (R&D) methodology and the ADDIE model, which includes five stages—analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation—shows that literacy-based learning media, such as "Candy Land," is highly effective. Evaluation results indicate that 85% of students achieved satisfactory learning outcomes, while 15% did not. This effectiveness demonstrates that literacy-based learning media can enhance student learning outcomes, with an average completion rate of 85%, supporting the use of this method in the learning process to achieve educational goals

Abstract

This study is motivated by the lack of engaging learning media at SD 04 Koto Baru, which has led to students showing low interest in participating in the learning process. An effort to overcome this issue involves the use of supportive learning tools that can attract students' attention specifically, the use of puzzle media. The objectives of this research are: to develop a valid puzzle media for early reading skills, to develop a practical puzzle media based on local wisdom to improve early reading, and to develop an effective puzzle media based on local wisdom to enhance early reading. This study is a type of research and development using the ADDIE development model, which consists of the stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The analysis stage includes needs analysis, curriculum analysis, media analysis, children's characteristics analysis, and material analysis. The design stage involves content design and media layout. The development stage includes validity testing; the implementation stage consists of practicality and effectiveness testing conducted at SD 04 Koto Baru, Dharmasraya Regency; and the evaluation stage assesses the overall results. The validation results from three experts indicate an average score of 91.06%, categorized as very valid. The practicality test achieved an average score of 100%, categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test, conducted with 25 students, yielded an average score of 81%, falling into the category of very effective. Based on the above results, it can be concluded that the puzzle media based on local wisdom for early reading supports students in better understanding the learning process. This research has produced a puzzle-based learning medium that is highly valid, highly practical, and highly effective.

Abstract

This research was motivated by several problems in learning. Lack of student motivation is caused by learning methods that only use stationery as a medium, resulting in students having difficulty understanding what the teacher explains. Lack of varied learning media is also caused by a lack of learning facilities. It turns out that in the Pancasila subject, students appear unmotivated during each learning process, especially for Pancasila material, because they lack the drive or enthusiasm to learn. This study used the Research and Development (R&D) method. The ADDIE model consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validation results for the scrapbook learning media development, assessed by three expert validators, were: 97% valid with material validation, 73% valid with minor revisions, and 75% valid with media validation. Data analysis of the teacher response questionnaire, scored 100% by one teacher, was categorized as very practical, and data analysis of the student response questionnaire, scored an average of 98%, categorized as very practical. The effectiveness of the learning assessment for third-grade students was categorized as 89% complete.
