Abstract

Metal forming is often found in several industries making household appliances, automotive, manufacturing electronic components and others ranging from small or medium sized industries. The mini press tool was produced as a learning medium to help improve students knowledge and skills. The mini press tool was performed in mechanic laboratory of mechanical engineering department, which is divided some stage, such as designing stage using Autodesk software, manufacturing the components, assembling the parts, and analysing the performance. Based on all stage, it concluded that the mini press tool have specifications i.e. frame height is 360 mm, frame length is 180 mm, frame width is 150 mm, electric motor with speed of 1400 rpm, maximum load capacity is 372,04 kg. The mini press tool can be used as a learning media tool for students to provide an overview and understanding the press tool of parts and components. It can bending some products with a maximum forming force of 372 kgf with a bending time of about 3 seconds per product or 1,200 products/hour.

Abstract

The joint for two different materials (AA5052 and AA6061) can be done by the Dissimilar Friction Stir Welding (DFSW) process. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze the mechanical properties of dissimilar welding joints. In this study the DFSW process uses a tool with a shoulder Ø 17.8 mm and a cylindrical pin Ø 5 mm. FSW blocking is done on conventional milling machines with 1300 rpm, 1950 rpm and 2850 rpm tool rotation variations, while the welding speed variations are 43 mm / min, 130 mm / min and 240 mm / min. The results of mechanical properties testing showed the highest hardness value obtained was 55.3 HBN at 1300 rpm with 240 mm / min feeding, the highest tensile strength occurred for 1300 rpm and 240 mm / min feeding at 123.51 MPa. The fracture of the tensile test results generally occurs in the HAZ area and the AA5052 base metal Nugget. Investigation results show that the DFSW connection of aluminum alloy material AA 6061 and AA 5052 adapt is well connected, but in terms of general strength the tensile strength of the joint (HAZ and Nugget) is smaller than the tensile strength of the base metal. This DFSW connection adaptation is applied to connections that do not accept load or tensile strength due to the load received by the connection not to exceed the maximum tensile strength of base metal AA 5052

Abstract

Press tools, as production aids, are widely used in the manufacturing industry for metal forming, including the bending of plate materials. The press tool consists of a die set used to cut or shape a product or component from sheet metal by using a press machine as a pressing tool that can produce products with uniform quality and in a short time. The stages in the die set design process consist of several stages, namely: 1) the design stage is carried out using Autodesk Fusion 360 software, 2) the manufacturing stage is carried out using machine tools and their accessories, 3) the assembly stage of each component both made and standard become a complete stu die set, 4) the stage of testing the die set by performing a compression test on a compression testing machine (UTM Galdabini) with various test parameters. The results of the buckling test show that the bending force required for bending a stainless steel plate with a thickness of 1 mm is in the range of 92 N – 125 N, while for a thickness of 2 mm it ranges from 113 N – 163 N. The bending angle produced is 107O45' – 115O45' for a thickness of 1 mm, and 100O20' – ??116O45' for a thickness of 2 mm. The conclusion obtained is that this die set designed and made has shown performance and meets the requirements as a press tool that can bend stainless steel plates.

Abstract

Pekerjaan pembentukan logam (metal forming) pada industri permesinan maupun pabrikasi las saat ini sangat banyak permintaan khususnya pada pekerjaan yang memerlukan proses bending. Proses bending merupakan pembentukan logam yang umumnya menggunakan lembaran pelat atau batang, baik dari bahan logam ferro maupun logam non ferro dengan cara ditekuk, yang mana dalam proses pembengkokan akan menyebabkan terjadinya pemuluran atau peregangan pada sumbu bidang netral sepanjang daerah bendingan dan menghasilkan garis bending yang lurus. Penggunaan teknologi tepat guna telah banyak digunakan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas, efisiensi, dan efektivitas dalam proses produksi pada industri permesinan maupun pabrikasi las berskala kecil dan menengah. Salah satu teknologi tepat guna yang memungkinkan diterapkan dalam proses produksi khususnya pekerjaan bending pelat yaitu mesin atau alat press bearing dengan cara menambahkan dengan press tool yang dilengkapi punch dan die penekuk. Press tool adalah salah satu jenis alat bantu pembentukan, pemotongan dan penekukan produk dari bahan dasar lembaran pelat yang operasinya menggunakan mesin press. Dari penelitian telah diciptakan press tool yang dilengkapi punch penekuk dan die berbentuk V air bending. Adapun spesifikasi press tool ini yaitu: sudut punch sama dengan 85o, radius punch sama dengan 1.5 mm, panjang punch sama dengan 300 mm, sudut die sama dengan 85o, lebar bukaan die sama dengan 33 mm, jarak langkah sama dengan 19 mm.

Abstract

The Ipteks programs are based on several factors that can affect the success of fish culture in milkfish and shrimp ponds is the availability of pond water quality is suitable for fish life fish and shrimp. In the intensification of efforts, one of the decisive parameters in improving pond water quality is to regulate the provision of oxygen content in water and fish feeding an orderly and proper dosage. Dissolved oxygen is very important for respiration and is one of the main components in the metabolism of fish and shrimp and other aquatic organizations. In addition, the system of fish feeding on fish and shrimp have been still using the traditional system, are fish/shrimp given to spread as much as 2-3 times a day. This system has several shortcomings, namely: the amount of feed given was not uniform, the feed is not spread evenly, and farmers have the pond every day. With the feed spreader tool has been developed as a tool in addition to the feed as well as spreader aerator tool that can provide aeration to the water's surface, then we can overcome the above problems with the feeding arrangement, which automatically threw food on time and the desired dose, and the continuously rotating wheel aerator will provide a spark against the surface of the water so the fish will be closer to get a new oxygen.

Abstract

Plastic extrusion machine is a tool to carry out the process of extrusion or formation by utilizing plastic blockage by using high temperatures for the process of melting and reshaping with mold into a certain form, where the drive used in the extrusion machine is a power thread formed in such a way as to be able to conduct or move the material. Extrusion machine made with the principle of horizontal shape and use screw conveyor as a material drive in the extrusion process. Extrusion Machine uses HDPE pellets as a test material to print filaments with a attached specification of 31.81 rpm of speed and 915 watt of element band heater power. The process of designing an extrusion machine with the screw conveyor was using standard flight or standard blade, on the grounds that the screw or thread only serves to move the material to the end of the nozzle. The screw conveyor size is 500 mm long, screw diameter is 50 mm and the distance between pitches is 25 mm followed by the dimensions of the machine is 800 x 400 x 600 mm. The test results were conducted using HDPE polyethylene pellet material with variable temperature variations consisting of 5 types of temperature, namely, 120 ° C, 110 ° C, 110 ° C, 95 ° C and 90 ° C, form the five variables above we conducted trials on each temperature. Then we got it and we concluded that the experiment using the temperature variable of 100 ° C has the most optimum output results, where the temperature of 120 ° C and 110 ° C has a liquid output result then the temperature of 90 ° C and 95 ° C has a condition where the material dries too quickly and make the nozzle clogged.

Abstract

Tujuan yang ingin diperoleh pada penelitian ini adalah membuat mesin yang dapat meniriskan bawang goreng yang telah dilakukan proses penggorengan untuk dijadikan produk tambahan pada masakan saji. Pembuatan mesin peniris bawang goreng ini dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu: (1) perancangan dalam bentuk desain gambar dan ukuran; (2) persiapan alat dan bahan yang akan digunakan (3) pembuatan mesin peniris bawang goreng dengan menggunakan mesin las listrik, mesin gergaji, mesin bubut, mesin frais, dan mesin bor; (4) melakukan uji coba dan pengujian kuantitas dan kapasitas (5) melakukan pengujian kualitas bawang goreng yang dihasilkan yang dibandingkan dengan bawang goreng yang ada di pasaran. Berdasarkan hasil pembuatan dan pengujian yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa mesin peniris bawang goreng dapat memproduksi (13,912 kg/jam) 12 kali lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan menggunakan media kertas koran (1,02 kg/jam), sedangkan kualitas yang dihasilkan menunjukkan bahwa kadar minyak bawang goreng yang dihasilkan (19%) lebih sedikit dibandingkan dengan bawang goreng di pasaran (23%).

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian tentang pengaruh pembubutan dengan metode minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) dan dry cutting terhadap kekasaran permukaan dan konsumsi daya listrik pada baja karbon sedang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembubutan dengan minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) dan dry cutting serta mengetahui konsumsi daya listrik dari mesin bubut untuk memperbaiki kekasaran permukaan. Pada dunia industri memperbaiki kekasaran permukaan benda kerja lebih disukai menggunakan proses pembubutan sehingga perlu untuk menemukan media pendingin yang dapat mengurangi suhu tinggi, sehingga dapat memperbaiki kekasaran permukaan, mengurangi alat bantu dan menemukan metode perbaikan kekerasan permukaan yang baik dan efisien dalam penggunaan daya listrik pada proses pembubutan baja karbon sedang. Tahapan dalam menganalisis kekasaran permukaan pada proses pembubutan dengan menggunakan metode minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) dan dry cutting. Ditemukan metode yang tepat untuk mengurangi tingkat kekasaran dalam proses pembubutan yaitu menggunakan metode minimum quantity lubrication (MQL).

Abstract

Type 316 stainless steel is a material that is often used in the medical world, especially as a material for making bone implant plates. However, the use of stainless steel as an implant material, stainless steel must be treated to increase the hardness and adjust the level of roughness on the surface. In this study, shot peening was carried out on the 316 stainless steel surface. The shooting parameters used were 2, 4, 6 minutes for the shooting duration, and 0o, 15o, 30o, 45o for the shooting angle, as well as the diameter of the steel shot used, i.e. 0.6 mm and 1 mm. The results of this study indicated that there was a change in the characteristic properties of 316 stainless steel, namely the hardness and surface roughness.

Abstract

The bent plate is inseparable from the phenomenon that determines the size of the resulting bending angle. This phenomenon is called springback. Springback is a condition that occurs on a sheet plate when bending is done where after the punch load is removed the bent sheet plate has a tendency to return to its original form. Mini brake bending V tool with a hydraulic jack system produces springback of 1-5 degrees for punch angle 85 ° radius 2.5 mm and carbon steel material St 42 at thickness 3, 4 and 5 mm. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out how the influence of punch angle and plate thickness on springback. The limitation problem in this study is the thickness of the plates used 2 and 4 mm. The type of method used is bending V bottoming with a die angle of 90 °, the punch angle used is 80, 85, and 90, the punch radius used is 2, 4 and 6 mm, and the plate material used is carbon steel. The research method starts from designing die set, punch and die test aids, and making test specimens, then bending test, bending angle and springback measurements are carried out. Based on the research conducted, the greater the punch angle, the smaller springback produced and the thicker the plate, the smaller springback produced tends to be smaller, where the smallest springback is obtained on a plate thickness of 6 mm with a punch angle of 90 ° 4 mm radius obtained -0.31o.
