Abstract

This study intended to investigate the creative thinking dispositions of students who can perform truth-seeking in solving mathematical problems. Truth-seeking behavior tends to show students' thinking disposition when they need to solve math problems. This behavior is very much needed by students in solving math problems, especially HOTS-type questions. This study is qualitative and employs a phenomenological approach. Three students from the Integrated Islamic Junior High School in Manokwari who sought the truth served as research subjects. Their answers on the answer sheets encouraged the determination of the subjects’ tendencies in truth-seeking and creative thinking. The results of thought-based and task-based interviews were then incorporated into the analysis to determine the creative thinking dispositions of truth-seeking students and the relationship between truth-seeking and creative thinking dispositions. The findings of this study indicate that all research subjects have diverse creative thinking dispositions; the more truth-seeker indicators that are met, the more creative thinking dispositions they possess. When solving mathematical problems, students tend to show how they think by how hard they try to find the truth. This result implies that it needs more research on the level of creative thinking disposition and how to increase students' true search.

Abstract

A well-constructed concept can aid pupils in comprehending any learning content. However, as seen by how students solve math problems, the construction process frequently encounters flaws. Students make various conceptual construction errors in online learning. This is a qualitative study conducted on Mathematics Education students of Universitas Papua. The purpose of this study was to determine the errors made by students in constructing concepts of functions during online learning. Five subjects were selected as the subjects. They were chosen by using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument was developed using material from online lectures on functions and has been validated by experts in the field of mathematics education. The findings indicated that there were five misconstruction concepts, i.e. pseudo construction, construction holes, mis-logical construction, mis-analogical construction, and misconstruction in problem-solving. For further research, to avoid unnecessary construction errors, it is recommended that before the learning process is carried out, the teacher should know the construction of students’ concepts, so that the process of students’ conceptual change in online learning can be known.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find an alternative method in teaching mathematics, specially in circle topic for the 8th grader student in SMP N 14 Masni, that can improve the activity and student’s score in learning mathematics. This method is named commeth. This method is a combination of several learning methods, namely lecturer, outdoor study, demonstration, jigsaw, and tanya jawab. The datum of this research are analyzed by qualitative and quantitative method. Based on this research, the result showed that the student activity and the student’s score are increase along the learning process. The observation result of the student activity is 87,33%. It means that the students are active. The rate of the team work is 71,45. It means that the students are cooperative along the learning process. And the rate of students grade is 70,25 . It increased by 81,29%.
