Abstract

This study aims to develop image-based vocabulary material for autistic students at MTs Sunan Drajat Sugio Lamongan. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) research. The subjects of this study were autistic students at MTs Sunan Drajat Sugio Lamongan. Researchers used three instruments to obtain data, namely interviews, questionnaires and observation checklists. The results showed that autistic students needed vocabulary material that contained many exciting pictures, varied activities, and attractive colors. The product of this research is vocabulary material entitled Picture Vocabulary Mastery for Autistic Students, which is suitable for the needs of autistic students. In conclusion, autistic students like vocabulary material and these products can help autistic students learn English, especially vocabulary. Keywords: Autistic Students, Picture Media, Vocabulary

Abstract

One of the important things in writing is grammar. The grammatical errors in writing may or will distort and disturb the coherence of the piece of writing. A preposition is a part of grammar that important to connect one word to another. Some students ignore the preposition in the right way. So, this study is eager to analyze the errors in using preposition produced by the students' first semester of English Education Department at Unisla in academic years 2019/2020 that consist of 45 students. The study focuses on what kinds of prepositional errors that are usually produced and the types of errors in using preposition mostly produced. This study uses descriptive qualitative to describes the reasons for preposition errors occur by analyzing the students' writing. The result is the students' first semester still produces some errors in; omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The types of error that produced by the students is misformation errors with percentage 44,93%. It means the teachers have to pay more attention to teaching prepositions.

Abstract

Pada zaman sekarang ini, digitalisasi menjadi sangat dekat dengan kehidupan kita. Segala hal dapat diketahui melalui gedget. Mirisnya sekarang kita akan mendapati orang-orang sibuk dengan gadget masing-masing, diruang publik seperti dikantor, toko, mall, cafe, rumah ibadah, warung kopi, bahkan di sekolah yang notabene sebagai tempat belajar, para siswa bahkan guru-guru pun lebih suka dan tidak bosan-bosannya melototi gadget mereka masing-masing daripada membaca. Mereka lebih senang bermain media sosial, seperti Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, Whatssap dan lain-lain ketimbang membaca tentang berita atau artikel-artikel online yang memberikan informasi penting. Sehingga nasib perpustakaan-perpustakaan sangat menyedihkan sekali, budaya stalking membuat perpusttakaan sekolah bukan menjadi tempat favorit untuk dikunjung lagi karena sudah menjadi kuburan sekolah. Apalagi perpustkaan yang minim fasilitas seperti yang terjadi di perpustakaan sekolah di SDN dan MI Tiwet. Hal itu tentunya menambah alasan mengapa siswa-siswa tidak mau mengunjungi perpustakaan. Melihat kondisi tersebut, penulis melaksanakan pengabdian berupa penyuluhan terhadap guru-guru untuk menghidupkan kembali perpustakaan sekolah mereka.

Abstract

This study investigated the participants’ performance in the closed discussion of English learning group. This research purpose is to know the distinction between the official and un-official discussion of English learning in writing based. The taking notices is the instrument of this research that adopted from the recommended previous articles. The results, the most participants really respect on the daily topics and grammar. The daily topic is displaied in humorous caption that can activate participants to give some different comments. Absolutely, it can enrich the participants’ vocabularies. The grammatical skill is also performed in posting and commenting technique, it enables participants to personally practice their grammar knowledge, and this technique encourages the participants’ self-confident to write a sentence in the correct tenses.

Abstract

The study aims to describe the use of folklore in the classroom to improve students’ reading comprehension and to ascertain the reactions of the students to this approach. 22 students in 9th Grade B at SMPN 1 Sugio are the subjects of the study, which employs the classroom action research methodology. Participation of the students to improve their reading comprehension is the theme of all the key phrases. The teacher needs to inspire the students more, though. Utilizing interviews, observations, and questionnaires, data is gathered. 14.28.% of students met the minimal mastery level criterion, according to their preliminary test results (KKM). The initial cycle was deemed ineffective. Students who attained the bare minimum mastery in The first cycle was deemed a failure. The percentage of students who met the minimal mastery level criterion (KKM) was only 53.57% or 15 students. The second cycle is regarded as a success. It was because 26 students, or 92.85% of the test participants, met the minimal mastery level criterion (KKM). The percentage of students who got up increased with each cycle, and the findings suggested that reading folklore could improve students' reading comprehension. Reading folklore in the classroom raises students' enthusiasm, enjoyment, and participation. Reading the narrative text through folklore can improve students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Mystery Box for teaching speaking in narrative text for junior high school students. To improve speaking skills students often face several problems such as lack of confidence when speaking in a foreign language. The main purpose of this research is to help students improve students' speaking skills gradually during teaching and learning activities in the classroom. This study uses Research and Development (R&D) model from Thiagarajan or commonly known as 4D (Four-D). The stage is Define, which is a definition that includes observation and analysis of student needs, then Design which includes product design formats and material selection, then Develop includes product design, validation by experts, revisions, and small-scale to large-scale experiments, the last is Disseminate, namely dissemination product form is a Guidebook. Observation data, interviews, and questionnaires for students used qualitative while the expert validator questionnaires and students' speaking scores used quantitative. There were two experts who tested this product and the participating students were class IX G, IX H, and IX I. The result of the analyzing all the data, according to the experts Mystery Box categorized was very good and most of the students felt enthusiastic in the class. It can be concluded that the Mystery Box is a learning media for helping students to improve students’ speaking skills.

Abstract

The research purpose is to know the correlation between learning facility, learning time and parents’ guidance at home to the students’ English learning achievement. The research uses a correlation method with the subject of the study is 118 participants of the students of English Education Program. All of the key words are parents’ participation to support the students’ success in learning. However , the students need motivation not only from the school teacher but also from the parents at home. Due to students spend most of the time at home with the parents.  The data are collected by using documentation and questionnaire. The researcher uses SPSS 25 to calculate and answer each variable’s hypothesis. Then the researcher uses F statistic and multi correlation to answer the hypothesis of all variables. Based on the research result, F change 0.001 < 0.05, It means the hypothesis is accepted and there is significance correlation of learning facility learning time and parental guidance towards students’ learning achievement. In conclusion, it can be inferred that every unit increase in learning indicators such as; learning facility, learning time and also parental support are accompanied by a unit change in student achievement in English.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to determine the urgency of availability of facilities, time, and parental guidance at home for students' English learning achievement. For that, this research needs to explore the correlation between the things. Therefore, we used a correlational method with 118 English language education program students as participants or subjects for doing research. Students need the motivation from their parents, not only teachers at school. This argument is based on the consideration that children spend more time with their parents at home. Data collection was carried out using documentation and questionnaires. We used SPSS 25 to calculate and answer the hypotheses of each variable. Then used F statistics and multicorrelation to answer the hypotheses of all variables. Based on the results of the study, F change 0.001 <0.05 This means that the hypothesis is accepted and there is a significant relationship between study time learning facilities and parental guidance on student achievement. So that, it can be concluded that each unit increases learning indicators such as; learning facilities, study time and also parental support accompanied by changes in student achievement units in English.Keywords: Learning Facilities; Learning Time; Parental Guidance; Learning Achievement.

Abstract

Teknologi pada bidang Pendidikan mengalami perkembangan yang pesat. Salah satu contohnya adalah Microsoft sway. Kesuksesan dan keberhasilan proses belajar pembelajaran tidak hanya ditentukan oleh pendidik namun juga sarana pembelajaran. Namun, tidak semua pengajar sudah menggunakannya. Beberapa alasan seperti masih belum pahamnya konsep e-learning, bagaimana penggunaan dan penerapannya menjadi sebuah permasalahan sendiri bagi pengajar. Alasan tersebut juga dialami oleh guru di MA Maarif 9 Mayong, Karangbinangun. Hal tersebutlah yang mendasari program kemitraan stimulus Pelatihan dan Penerapan Microsoft Sway Bagi Guru MA Maarif 9 Karangbinangun Lamongan dirancang agar dapat mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. PKMS ini akan dilakukan menjadi tiga tahapan pelaksanaan yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan kegiatan dan tahap pasca kegiatan. Harapannya dengan adanya PKMS ini maka dapat memberikan gambaran pada guru MA Maarif 9 Karangbinangun Lamongan dalam memahami manfaat dan penerapan e-learning berbasis Microsoft Sway sebagai media pembelajaran yang atraktif dan menarik minat belajar dan tingkat pemahaman siswa dapat meningkat.
