Abstract

Background & Objective: Postoperative pain is a physiological response that patients can feel. Non-pharmacological pain management that can alleviate pain includes finger grip relaxation therapy. Finger grip relaxation techniques involve finger gripping and breath control. Energy flow is perceived as a stimulus for relaxation; reflex points on the hands provide reflex stimulation during the grip, and this stimulation redirects electrical waves to the brain, which processes them and transmits them to the nerves in the affected body organs. This study aims to investigate the application of finger grip therapy in reducing post-operative pain in the Wijaya Kusuma Bawah Ward of Kardinah General Hospital in Tegal City. Method: A descriptive method was used with the application of case study results. Result: Finger grip therapy was applied for 3 days to patients with post-debridement lymphadenopathy experiencing acute pain. The study showed that subjects experienced moderate pain before receiving finger grip therapy, and after the therapy, patients experienced a reduction in pain to mild pain. Conclusion: In this study, finger grip therapy was effective in reducing pain levels in post-operative patients.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Heart failure is a complex syndrome that arises from conditions that impair the ventricles' ability to pump oxygen-rich blood, with common symptoms including dyspnea and edema. One complementary therapy for managing edema is foot massage. According to WHO data, the global prevalence of heart failure is 26 million cases. Meanwhile, West Java ranks fourth with a prevalence of 1.18% or 156,977 cases (Indonesian Health Survey, 2023). Method: A descriptive method was used with the application of case study results. Result: Foot massage was applied over three days, and changes were observed in the legs of patients with edema. Conclusion: It can be concluded that foot massage therapy is effective in reducing leg edema in patients with congestive heart failure because the massage promotes smoother lymphatic fluid flow, particularly from smaller lymphatic vessels to larger ones. This process is crucial because blocked or slowed lymphatic flow can reduce immune system effectiveness and disrupt bodily fluid balance.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) with hemodialysis therapy is a condition of chronic kidney dysfunction that requires regular blood filtration procedures to replace declining kidney function. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2020) reports that the global prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease reaches 10% of the population, while the number of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis is estimated at approximately 1.5 million worldwide, with an annual increase of 8%. Analyzing the application of Seft therapy on anxiety in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis in the hemodialysis room at RSD Gunung Jati Hospital in Cirebon City. Method: This study uses a descriptive approach based on the results of previous case studies. The instruments used were the palliative nursing care format and the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSAS). Results: SEFT therapy was administered over three sessions according to the hemodialysis schedule, resulting in a reduction in anxiety levels among chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis in the Hemodialysis Unit at RSD Gunung Jati Hospital in Cirebon City. Conclusion: The application of SEFT therapy has been proven to be beneficial in reducing anxiety levels in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis procedures in the Hemodialysis Room of Gunung Jati Regional General Hospital, Cirebon City.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive and irreversible decline in kidney function that causes the body to be unable to maintain metabolism and fluid and electrolyte balance, which can trigger hypervolemia. This study aims to investigate the application of fluid balance monitoring in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients with hypervolemia. Method: A descriptive method was used, incorporating case study results.  Result: Fluid balance monitoring was conducted over three days in CKD patients with hypervolemia. The results indicated that the hypervolemia issue remained unresolved, as evidenced by persistent edema in the lower extremities, unchanged urine output, and fluid balance monitoring results showing intake of 1,076 cc, output of 592 cc, and a fluid balance of +484 cc. Conclusion: Fluid balance monitoring is important in managing hypervolemia in patients with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), but it requires time and further approaches to achieve nursing care objectives.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Non-hemorrhagic stroke can cause both physical and mental problems, one of which is anxiety. Unresolved anxiety can hinder patient recovery. A holistic nursing approach is needed, one of which is the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). This study aims to implement SEFT therapy to reduce anxiety in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients in the Stroke Unit Room at RSD Gunung Jati Cirebon. Method: A descriptive method with a case study approach involved one respondent diagnosed with non-hemorrhagic stroke. Data were collected using observation sheets and questionnaires. Result: A three-day case study showed a decrease in anxiety score from 27 (moderate anxiety) to 8 (no anxiety). Conclusion: SEFT therapy has the potential as an effective non-pharmacological approach to reduce anxiety in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients and can be implemented in nursing care by actively involving patients and their families.

Abstract

Background & Objective: The prevalence of heart disease in Indonesia, according to the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), reached 1,017,290 cases, while in West Java Province there were 186,809 cases. To apply the intervention of deep breathing relaxation technique to Mr. A, a patient with congestive heart failure (CHF), focusing on pain management nursing care in the ICCU Ward of RSD Gunung Jati, Cirebon City. Method: This research used a case study design. The subject was one patient with CHF and pain management problems. Data collection methods included anamnesis, physical assessment, direct observation, and medical records. Nursing care was carried out for 3 days according to the shift schedule. Results: After applying deep breathing relaxation for three consecutive days, 10–15 minutes each session, the pain scale decreased from 6 (Numeric Rating Scale/NRS) to 2 (NRS). Conclusion: The application of deep breathing relaxation technique can reduce pain in CHF patients in the ICCU Ward of RSD Gunung Jati, Cirebon City.

Abstract

Background & Objective: According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2023), the number of pleural effusion cases worldwide is quite high, ranking third after lung cancer, affecting approximately 10–15 million people with 100,000–250,000 deaths annually. This study aims to apply the semi-Fowler’s position intervention to pleural effusion patients with ineffective breathing pattern problems in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of RSD Gunung Jati, Cirebon City. Method: This research used a case study design. The subject was one client diagnosed with pleural effusion and experiencing an ineffective breathing pattern. Data were collected using anamnesis, physical assessment, direct observation, and medical records. Result: The study showed that applying the semi-Fowler’s position for three consecutive days reduced dyspnea and decreased respiratory rate from 26x/minute to 23x/minute. Conclusion: It was concluded that the semi-Fowler’s position can reduce ineffective breathing patterns in pleural effusion patients treated in the ICU of RSD Gunung Jati, Cirebon City.
