Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the volume expansion coefficient of vegetable oil and water as the effective way to study the fluids’ properties when they are heated. The vegetable oil used in this research is the unused vegetable oil of Filma, while the water used in this study is distilled water. The main instrument in this study is the dilatometer which works based on the principle of fluids expansion. The research methods adopted the methods of the previous researchers, in which the experiment of fluids volume expansion had been conducted in two stages for each fluids (in this case, the fluids were vegetable oil and water). The first stage was heating fluids indirectly through absorbed and distributed heat by an amount of water inside the boiling jug. In the second stage, the heat source was stopped and fluids were allowed to continue expanding in volume due to the rising temperature before the fluids finally experiencing volume contraction due to the decrease in temperature. When the cooling process was carried out, observation and recording of data of fluid column length in glass pipe as a function of temperature were held. Based on those data, the changes in fluids volume due to the cooling process could be estimated. By utilizing the linear relation between volume change and temperature change, the volume expansion coefficient values of vegetable oil and water were (7,2 ± 0,2) x 10-4/0C and (3,2 ± 0,2) x 10-4/0C within the limits of the accuracy of the measuring instrument used in the study.

Abstract

Lack of understanding of the concepts students are not due only to the lack of ability of students to absorb the material submitted by teachers, but also influenced by the ability of teachers to manage teaching and learning activities. Teachers have an important role in the sustainability of good teaching, one of them to set up an exciting learning device so enthusiastic student learning. This study aims to develop learning tools guided inquiry-based high school physics to enhance students' understanding of concepts on the subject of Dynamic Electricity. Development of the 4D model and tested in class X in SMAN 1 Babat odd semester academic year 2012/2013. This research is the development of research trial design using the One Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. Data collection methods used were questionnaires and observation, while the data analysis techniques using quantitative descriptive analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis. The result showed that some of the findings: RPP performing well and a high degree of reliability; activity is the dominant student observation / experiment; students 'understanding of the concept after learning improving students' responses to learning a positive model of guided inquiry. Based on the results of this study concluded that the quality of learning that have developed viable use in teaching to enhance students' understanding of physics concepts. Kurangnya pemahaman konsep siswa tidak disebabkan hanya pada kurangnya kemampuan siswa menyerap materi yang disampaikan guru, tetapi juga dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan guru dalam mengelola kegiatan belajar mengajar. Guru mempunyai peran penting pada keberlangsungan pembelajaran yang baik, salah satunya untuk menyiapkan perangkat pembelajaran yang menarik sehingga siswa antusias mengikuti pelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran fisika SMA berbasis guided inquiry untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada pokok bahasan Listrik Dinamis. Pengembangan perangkat  menggunakan model 4D dan diujicobakan pada siswa kelas X di SMAN 1 Babat pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh beberapa temuan yaitu: RPP terlaksana dengan baik dan derajat reliabilitas tinggi; aktivitas siswa yang dominan adalah pengamatan/percobaan; pemahaman konsep siswa setelah pembelajaran meningkat; respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran model guided inquiry positif.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan mempunyai kualitas layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep fisika siswa.

Abstract

This research aimed to produce science learning material guided inquiry base a feasible to practice problem solving skills on topic mirror. The learning material was tested to VIII grade students of SMPN 1 Sedati Sidoarjo of the academic year 2014/2015. This research was one which used 4-D model development that was modified 3D (dissemination stage is not done). The test device used one group pretest-posttest design. Result of the research showed validity of learning material well categorized and could be used in learning with few revisions resulted realibility in RPP assessment, worksheet, student learning result and problem solving skills as much as 98%, 98,70%, (95,80% and 98,60%), and 98,82%. Based on result, research discussion, could be summarized that guided inquiry based science learning material to practice problem solving skills on topic mirror is feasible to be used in learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri terbimbing yang layak untuk melatihkan keterampilan memecahkan masalah pada pokok bahasan cermin. Perangkat pembelajaran tersebut diujikan pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 1 Sedati Sidoarjo tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4-D yang dimodifikasi menjadi 3D (tahap desiminasi tidak dilakukan). Rancangan ujicoba perangkat menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan validitas perangkat pembelajaran berkategori baik dan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran dengan sedikit revisi diperoleh reliabilitas penilaian RPP, LKS, hasil belajar siswa, dan keterampilan memecahkan masalah sebesar 98%, 98,70%, (95,80% dan 98,60%), dan 98,82. Berdasarkan hasil dan diskusi penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuiri terbimbing untuk melatihkan keterampilan memecahkan masalah pada pokok bahasan cermin layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Peran analogi sebagai salah satu strategi pengajaran sains dalam menunjang proses belajar mengajar di sekolah sangat besar. Strategi ini dapat digunakan sebagai suatu metode alternatif untuk memecahkan kebuntuan komunikasi belajar antara guru dan siswa, khususnya bila siswa menghadapi kesulitan belajar dalam hal memahami materi ajar baru namun memiliki kemiripan alur berpikir dengan materi ajar sebelumnya. Sebagai basis berpikir metode pengajaran dengan analogi, artikel ini akan memperkenalkan dan mendiskusikan dua konsep utama, yaitu: konsep rujukan, materi ajar yang sudah dipahami sebelumnya oleh siswa, dan konsep target, materi ajar yang akan dipahamkan kepada siswa. Pembahasan kedua konsep tersebut akan disertai dengan beberapa contoh kasus dalam pengajaran fisika di sekolah. Tidak tertutup kemungkinan bagi para guru di kelas untuk memanfaatkan metode alternatif ini sebagai salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir siswa. Dengan demikian, pengayaan materi ajar tidak saja dapat dilakukan melalui latihan soal berulang dan berjenjang, melainkan juga dapat dengan memperkenalkan paradigma baru agar diperoleh spektrum pemahaman materi ajar yang lebih luas dan komprehensif.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the effect of cooperative teaching learning by using conflict-cognitive strategy towards the reduction of students? misconceptions, so it can be determined a direct correlation between mastery of physics concepts and the misconceptions reduction. To achieve the aim, a study had been conducted beginning by setting the lesson plan, the students? worksheet, and the test in the material of ?simple electrical circuits?. The subject of the study was the students of X in SMAN 15 Surabaya, Second Semester, academic year of 2012-2013. The subject consisted of four groups which were three experimental groups and one control group. The study was an experimental study in control group pretest-posttest research design. The data of the study was collected through a multiple choice test with CRI and argument. The result of the study showed some facts as follows: (1) there was a difference of  the mastery significantly of concept between the experiment group and the control group. The average of the mastery of concept of experiment groups was 80,08 while the control group was 62,77; (2) there was the misconception reduction significantly between the experiment group and the control group. The average of the misconception reduction of the experiment group was 32,92%, while the control group was 11,33%; and (3) there was correlation between the concept mastery and in regression Y = 0,876 ? 0,095X.The conclusion of the study is that there is a significant effect of the conflict-cognitive strategy to increase the  students? learning result and the reduction of students' misconception.Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif dengan strategi konflik kognitif terhadap reduksi miskonsepsi siswa, sehingga dapat ditentukan hubungan langsung antara penguasaan konsep fisika dan reduksi miskonsepsi. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, telah dilakukan penelitian yang diawali dengan penyusunan RPP, LKS dan THB dengan pilihan materi Rangkaian Listrik Sederhana. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 15 Surabaya semester genap Tahun Pembelajaran 2012/2013. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas tiga kelompok eksperimen dan satu kelompok kontrol. Jenis penelitian tergolong penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian control  group  pretest-posttest design.  Data  dikumpulkan  melalui  THB  berbentuk  pilihan  ganda  disertai  CRI  dan argumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) terdapat perbedaan penguasaan konsep secara signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Rata-rata penguasaan konsep siswa kelompok eksperimen adalah 80,08, sedangkan kelompok kontrol 62,77; (2) terdapat perbedaan reduksi miskonsepsi secara signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Rata-rata reduksi miskonsepsi siswa kelompok eksperimen adalah 32,92%, sedangkan kelompok kontrol 11,33%; dan (3) terdapat hubungan antara penguasaan konsep dengan reduksi miskonsepsi dalam persamaan regresi Y = 0,876 ? 0,095 X. Simpulan penelitian adalah terdapat pengaruh signifikan pembelajaran strategi konflik kognitif terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar dan reduksi miskonsepsi siswa.

Abstract

This study was conducted to increase the understanding on movement system concept at Junior High School.This study belongs to pre-experimental using One Group Pretest and Posttest Design. Subjects of the research were 32 students. Analysis of research data is carried out descriptive quantitatively. Result of this study shows that: (1) lesson plan gets average score of 3.72 which is categorized as excellent; (2) Normalized Gain Score  is 0.71; and (3) students response positively; 98,74% of students state they are pleased with this teaching model, 96,88% state it is new for them, 98,75% state it is easyto do, 98,13% state their agreement, and 91% request the application of this model on the following lessons; and (4) the highest learning activity is reading teaching material, of 22,85% students. As a conclusion from this research is that quiz team model of teaching is applicable to increase the understanding on movement system concept at Junior High School.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop physics learning material using concept approach learning-based to improve student achievement. This research was held using Dick and Carey design model and tested in X grade of SMAN 4 Jember usingone-group pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis quantitatively and qualitatively. Validation results showed that learning material is feasible to be implemented, including: (a) lesson plan, (b) student worksheet, (c) student book, (d) assessment sheet. The results of this research were analyzed and obtained: lesson plan was properly implemented, good student responses, all students interested in learning. Knowledge aspect include concept understanding and creative thinking skills were analyzed by N-gain showed high improvement. Conluded that, development of physics learning material based on concept approach is feasible to be implemented and it can improve the student achievement. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran fisika menggunakan strategi pembelajaran berbasis pendekatan konsep untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan rancangan penelitian model Dick dan Carey dan diujicobakan di kelas X SMAN 4 Jember dengan desain ujicoba menggunaka none group pretest-posttest design. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil validasi perangkat pembelajaran menunjukkan perangkat pembelajaran layak untuk diimplementasikan,  meliputi: (a) RPP, (b) LKS, (c) Buku Siswa, (d) Instrumen Tes Hasil Belajar. Hasil penelitian ini dianalisis dan diperoleh beberapa temuan diantaranya: RPP terlaksana dengan baik, respon siswa sangat positif, semua siswa berminat dalam pembelajaran. Tes hasil belajar aspek pengetahuan yang meliputi pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dianalisis dengan N-Gain menunjukkan peningkatan yang tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan,  disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan layak digunakan dan dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of physics learning material based on a 5E learning cycle model to improve student?s understanding in static fluid. Model had the best of guide student?s through the stages of learning. the development of research learning using a modified 4-D model Thiagarajan (no disseminate is required) and one group pretest-posttest design. Research had done in class X SMAN 16 Surabaya Academic Year 2013/2014. Data collection techniques using observation, test, and questionnaire. Analysis using quantitative and qualitative descriptive. The results of  this research are as follows: 1) the validity of RPP is found to be 3.9 which is categorized exellent, BAS is calculated 3.7 clasified exellent, LKS is calculated 3.8 clasified exellent, the legibility of BAS is found to be 74% which is categorized high, the legibility of LKS is found to be 77% which is categorized high, the difficulty of BAS is found to be 27% which is categorized easily, the difficulty of LKS is found to be 26% which is categorized easily; 2) the practicality of learning a feasibility is calculated 95% clasified exellent and learning implementation constraints that arise when students understand the experiment steps; 3) the effectiveness of learning, an improved student understanding happens to the majority of respondents (33 out of 35 students) in every class test; of 14 student activities observed, it is found that 80% fits into an adequate or good category and the remaining requires futher treatment, and positive student response to learning. Based on the research results three class are consistent, it can be concluded that the developed learning material on the based of a 5E learning cycle model to improve student?s understanding is appropriate that it can be applied in learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kelayakan perangkat pembelajaran fisika model learning cycle 5E untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi fluida statis. Keutamaan model ini membimbing siswa melalui tahapan-tahapan pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan untuk mengembankan perangkat pembelajaran menggungakan model 4-D oleh Thiagarajan (tahap disseminate tidak dilaksanakan) dengan rancangan ujicoba one group pretest-posttest design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas X SMAN 16 Surabaya pada Semester Genap Tahun Pelajaran 2013/2014. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, pemberian tes, dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil-hasil penelitian meliputi: 1) validitas perangkat pembelajaran, di mana nilai validasi RPP sebesar 3,9 berkategori sangat baik, BAS sebesar 3,7 berkategori sangat baik, LKS sebesar 3,8 berkategori sangat baik; keterbacaan BAS sebesar 75% berkategori tinggi, keterbacaan LKS sebesar 77% berkategori tinggi; tingkat kesulitan BAS sebesar 27% berkategori mudah, tingkat kesulitan LKS sebesar 26% berkategori mudah; 2) kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran, di mana keterlaksanaan pembelajaran sebesar 95% berkategori sangat baik dan kendala pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang muncul saat siswa memahami langkah-langkah percobaan; 3) keefektifan perangkat pembelajaran, di mana peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa pada  mayoritas responden (33 dari 35 siswa) di setiap kelas uji; dari 14 butir aktivitas siswa yang diamati ditemukan sekitar 80% berkategori cukup baik atau baik dan sisanya masih membutuhkan penanganan lebih intensif, serta respons siswa positif terhadap pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil-hasil penelitian ketiga kelas yang konsisten, maka disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran fisika model learning cycle 5E untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi fluida statis layak digunakan sehingga dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop learning physics based on virtual simulation and simple KIT by combined direct instruction and cooperative learning model device to teaches psychomotor and affective skills students at optical topic. The research subject is a physics instruction package that was developed using the 4-D model and applying One Group Pretest-posttest design for the test model. The study conducted in the second semester of the school year 2012/2013 at the class VIII MTs Kanjeng Sepuh Sidayu Gresik. The results showed that the validity of the instruction package in good categories and feasible to use in learning. The readability level of textbook is medium category, implementation of lesson study is good, Student activities are more dominant is the experiments with PhET simulations and simple KIT. Psychomotor learning outcomes after physics instruction package implemented is able to solve learning outcomes of students. For affective learning outcomes, students' social skills in working more dominant than ask and be a good listener. The response of the students towards learning is positive responses. Obstacles encountered during the learning is associated with time of learning and students' skills in presentation and discussion. Based on the findings above, it can be concluded that the instruction package developed feasible to use in learning to teache psychomotor and affective skills students at topic optical in junior high school.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan (developmental research) yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis simulasi virtual dan KIT sederhana dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung dan kooperatif untuk mengajarkan keterampilan psikomotor dan afektif siswa pada pokok bahasan alat optik. Subjek penelitian ini adalah perangkat pembelajaran fisika berbasis simulasi virtual dan KIT sederhana dengan model pembelajaran langsung dan kooperatif pokok bahasan alat optik yang dikembangkan menggunakan model 4-D dengan model ujicoba One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penelitian dilakukan pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2012-2013 kepada siswa kelas VIII MTs Kanjeng Sepuh Sidayu Gresik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validitas perangkat pembelajaran berkategori baik. Tingkat keterbacaan buku ajar siswa termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Keterlaksanaan RPP berkategori baik. Aktivitas siswa yang dominan adalah kegiatan percobaan dengan simulasi PhET dan KIT sederhana. Hasil belajar psikomotor siswa setelah melalui tahap penerapan pembelajaran berbasis simulasi PhET dan KIT sederhana menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung dan kooperatif dapat menuntaskan hasil belajar seluruh siswa. Untuk hasil belajar afektif, kemampuan sosial siswa dalam bekerjasama lebih aktif. Respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran memberikan respons positif. Kendala yang dijumpai selama KBM berhubungan dengan alokasi waktu pelaksanaan KBM dan kemampuan siswa dalam presentasi serta diskusi. Berdasarkan hasil temuan di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat yang dikembangkan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran untuk mengajarkan keterampilan psikomotor dan afektif siswa.

Abstract

In the context of problem-based learning, gravity current experiment to model saltwater intrusion and ?lahar dingin? using a water tank available at the Laboratory of Earth Science in the Department of Physics, the State University of Surabaya is research breakthrough in physics education. This makes physics teaching meaningful as it is part of the introduction of disaster mitigation education to students in the department. The experiments were performed in two stages to determine the speed and depth of gravity current. In the first stage, a number of runs were conducted by varying density difference between saltwater and freshwater (1%, 3%, or 5%). The two fluids were filled in the tank at the total water depth of 10 cm or 20 cm. In the second stage, other runs were conducted using a water tank of the same length but twice narrower. The results show that the dimensionless speed is measured to be 0.44 ± 0.03, independent of the width of the tank. Relatively compared to the speed, the current depth is difficult to measure owing to the presence of mixing. However, experimental photos show that the current depth is best estimated to be 0.32-0.46 H, where H is the total depth
