Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja satuan pendidik yang kemudian dilihat pengaruhnya dari faktor motivasi, disiplin dan gaya kepemimpinan pimpinan lembaga pendidikan tersebut. Teropong utama tertuju pada kinerja guru bahasa Inggris Sekolah Menengah Pertama Jakarta. Sampel diperoleh melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Data kuantitatif dikumpulkan melalui kegiatan survei, melalui instrumen penelitian berupa angket dan wawancara yang bersifat terstruktur. Analisis data berupa regresi ganda. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa (1) terdapat pengaruh motivasi terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris, (2) terdapat pengaruh disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris, (3) terdapat pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris, dan (4) terdapat pengaruh bersama antara motivasi, disiplin dan gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris.  Kata Kunci : Performance, motivasi, disiplin, dan leadership style

Abstract

The research is to find out the students’ speaking difficulties encountered by Islamic Boarding School Daarul Mughni Bogor, Indonesia. The research objective identifies and describes the process result of the students’ observation, questionnaire, and interview related to linguistic factors, non-linguistic factors, and both causes. The subject of this research is the students as about 80 respondents with a descriptive analysis of qualitative research. The research methodology is considered to be appropriately applied for the study of linguistic analysis and a description of the data. The population of the research study is the 12th – grade students of Daarul Mughni Islamic Boarding School Bogor, Indonesia. The sample of the research study was chosen by using a simple random sample of 80 respondents of 292 students. Descriptive research is selected by the researcher because it deals with the phenomenon of the students’ speaking difficulties in a real-life situation that happened to the students while they are speaking English at school. The description of the questionnaire result explains about three aspects such as linguistic factors, non- linguistic factors, and the causes of speaking difficulties related to the environment, speaking difficulties related to English teaching, and curriculum design

Abstract

Peningkatan keterampilan memahami bacaan bahasa Inggris dengan menerapkan teknik pembelajaran JIGSAW merupakan bagian dari upaya memperbaiki situasi dan proses pembelajaran dikelas. Teknik pembelajaran JIGSAW dengan memperhatikan beberapa aspek: pembentukan kelompok diskusi, penentuan jumlah anggota dalam satu kelompok, jumlah siswa yang mewakili sebagai kelompok ahli, dan cara evaluasi untuk menilai efektivitas diskusi serta upaya meningkatkan sikap berbahasa siswa. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis classroom action research, menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif sebab peneliti membangun gambaran yang kompleks dan holistic, melaporkan pandangan atau opini dari kolaborator dan situasi penelitian berjalan secara yang alamiah. Penelitian diawali dengan melakukan penelitian pendahuluan dan kemudian melakukan tindakan berupa siklus, terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, analisis data, serta refleksi. Setelah melakukan analisis dan refleksi pada siklus I, peneliti melanjutkan dengan siklus II dan setelah melakukan analisis dan refleksi hasil tindakan pada siklus II, peneliti dan kolaborator memutuskan untuk berhenti karena telah mendapatkan alur pelaksanaan JIGSAW yang ideal. Penerapan teknik pembelajaran JIGSAW dapat berlangsung sangat baik dengan teknis kunci yaitu 1) menentukan siswa menjadi anggota kelompok ahli, 2) jumlah kelompok sesuai dengan jumlah siswa dalam kelompok ahli (tiap kelompok terdiri dari 4-5 siswa), 3) guru berupaya meningkatkan sikap berbahasa siswa melalui pendekatan dan komunikasi dengan baik, 4) menggunakan instrumen untuk mendeteksi sikap berbahasa siswa dan keterampilan memahami bacaan bahasa Inggris.Kata kunci: teknik jigsaw, sikap berbahasa, dan keterampilan memahami bacaan bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to know how teaching reading and writing are observed by metacognitive model and advantages and disadvantages in teaching process itself. The samples are 42 students of SMK An-Nurmaniyah Binong Permai and 39 students of SMK Yuppentek Tangerang The research is conducted in a qualitative research as the methodology. The research  findings  shows that most metacognitive processess are well-applied and their advantages and disadvantages in teaching reading and writing.

Abstract

The textbooks play an important role in teaching and learning activity in language program. Because of the various textbooks provided, textbook analysis is seen as an important thing to be conducted in order to find out how the components of the textbook are served. This study was aimed to investigate to what extent the English textbook entitled “Bahasa Inggris: When English Rings a Bell” for eighth grade students meet the criteria of BSNP (linguistic features and presentation of materias). The linguistic features consist of language appropriateness while the presentation of materials consist of content appropriates, presentation appropriateness, and graphic appropriateness. This study was descriptive qualitative approach. The instrument used to collect the data is document study used in the form of checklist. A checklist was made adopted from BSNP (2011) framework. The results of this study showed that textbook entitled “When English Rings a Bell” for Eight Grade is suitable to be used in teaching learning process. The textbook achieved the fulfillment score language appropriateness (100%), content appropriateness (81,25%), presentation appropriateness (88,89%), and graphics appropriateness (97,64%). Then, the English textbook When English Rings a Bell for VIII Grade is categorized into “good” textbook by achieving the score of 95,07% .Thus, it can be concluded that textbook is suitable to be used in order to help the teaching learning process in the classroom with the help of other sources and teacher improvisation.
