Abstract

Learning activities for the community in the villages of Lamaru RT 06 and RT 17 were Community Service activities carried out by lecturers and students at the University of Balikpapan in Lamaru Village, East Balikpapan, with the aim of realizing the Tri Dharma of Universities by using their values and forms in community and state life, increase the power of interest in learning society in order to get a better education and provide new insights and knowledge about education and can be used in community life in the area where local people live. The method of community service in RT 17 and RT 06 of Lamaru Village by conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The results of the discussion were 1) the formation of cooperation between the community service team of the University of Balikpapan very well so that efforts to increase the learning interest of the community in Lamaru Sub-District can run well, 2) the students who took part in educational activities were very active in the activities given, such as tutoring, knowledge dexterity competitions, and simple experiments in setting up model patterns of objects around them using plasticine media, and 3) young people playing an active role in helping education skills in creative activities. Abstract

English vocabulary mastery in elementary school students is quite minimal. This can happen because they have not yet learned English because the lessons have been removed from the elementary school curriculum starting in 2014. The implementation team was restless and wanted to introduce English early on to students, especially at SDN 012 West Balikpapan as a form of initial recognition in order to survive and able to compete in junior high school. The method used is to provide theory and practice to the target audience. The activity of introducing English vocabulary on the theme of the school environment is carried out through face to face with the delivery of material through the lecture method followed by guidance, practice, and evaluation in understanding vocabulary with the themes of alphabets, numbers, colors and school subjects, School Things, and People in School. The results of community service activities carried out at SDN 012 West Balikpapan provide considerable benefits and are needed by students at the school. School principals, teachers, and students expect this activity to be carried out continuously through mentoring activities and forms of English language training and other lessons. Language Training is one form of non-formal education that is very important and useful for students to get to know English that still feels foreign.

Abstract

Pancasila is one of the foundations of social life to build humane citizens. The inculcation of Pancasila values ​​needs to be done from an early age so that when he becomes an adult, the national character is attached to him. Socializing the practice of Pancasila to elementary school students is a way that can be taken to instill Pancasila values ​​as the basis of the state. Students as agents of change, guardians of values, successors of the nation, moral strength, and social control need to contribute to the inculcation of Pancasila in students. The purpose of this activity is that students provide an understanding of Pancasila as well as education on the practice of Pancasila in everyday life to students. This activity was carried out by 7 students of the Mathematics Education study program with their respective division of tasks. The target of this activity is the fourth grade elementary school students. Data is collected through observation when students carry out activities in class. The result of this activity is that students listen well to the presentation of the material because they are interested in information on the form of Pancasila practice. In addition, students are enthusiastic about participating in activities because external parties or students deliver the material.

Abstract

Effective sentences are foundations in writing skills. However, there are still many students who have not applied the effective sentence t-shirt correctly. One inhibiting factor in the lack of knowledge about effective sentences is the lack of knowledge about effective sentences. There needs to be activities to support this knowledge. The effort made is education to students about effective sentences. The aim is to improve students' writing skills in effective sentences. The method used in Community Service (PkM) is the method of lecture and discussion. This method is used to improve students' analytical abilities against sentences. This activity is carried out with four stages, namely preparation, implementation by counseling by providing material: understanding, type, characteristics, and examples of effective sentences, as well as evaluation, and preparation of reports. The organizer of this activity is the Balikpapan University FKIP Lecturer. Participants in this activity are class X RB 3 State Vocational High School 3 Balikpapan. This activity was carried out in class X RB 3, address on Belibis Street number 100, South Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. The result of this activity is that students can write effective sentences characterized by 70% structural equivalence, 70% compatibility of forms, 80% economy of words, 60% accuracy of reasoning, 60% cohesiveness of ideas, and 75% logicality of language.
