Abstract

The result of observation during the teaching internship program (PPL) show that the teaching and learning activitiesin SMP Mataram Semarang still apply teacher centered learning. Besides, the question and answer session in theteaching and learning activities are still relatively low. Report of the national examination results at SMP MataramSemarang in the academic year 2014/2015 by BSNP indicate that the absorption of students on the material ofaddictive substances and psychotropic is still low at 34,29%. An effort to do is to apply the learning model SnowballThrowing through Word Square media. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the learning modelSnowball throring through Word Square media toward the activity and the result of student’s learning in the materialof addictive substance and psycothropic. This research is a Quasi Experimental Nonequivalent Control Group Design.The results of the study showed that the liveliness of experimental group was 92%, while in the control group was 76%.The classical completeness of cognitive achievement in the experimental group was 88%, while in the control group was48%. The results of t-test showed that there is significant difference on cognitive achievement of the experimental groupagainst the control group. The result of N-gain also showed that the improvement in cognitive achievement of theexperimental group was higher than the control group. The classical completeness of affective achievement of theexperimental group was 92%, while the control group was 80%. It can be concluded that the learning model SnowballThrowing through Word Square media is effective toward the activity and the results of student’s learning in thematerial of addictive substance and psychotropic. So, Snowball Throwing through Word Square media can bepractice on the material of addictive substance and psychotropic and other material that have same problem.

Abstract

One of the indicators to measure college students’ achievement is Grade Point Average (GPA). Moreover, nutritional status and learning pattern also influence the learning outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nutritional status and learning pattern with learning outcomes of Biology student of Universitas Negeri Semarang. The research was a mixed method research design particularly sequential explanatory strategy.The population of the research were students majoring in biology class registered as college students in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The sampling technique in the quantitative method used proportional random sampling while purposive sampling was applied in the qualitative method. Students’ learning outcomes, in this case, were GPA. Four methods in the data collection were employed. They were an assessment of Body Mass Index (BMI), questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed used partial correlation analysis followed by a multiple correlation and regression analysis. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship as many as 44.2% of nutritional status and learning pattern with learning outcomes. Thus, it was suggested that the nutritional status and learning pattern contribute positively to improve students’ learning outcomes.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes of human reproductive system material under passing grade become an obstacle for students to achieve the learning objectives. Some students are not enthusiastic about human reproductive system material because it is considered difficult. Students still do not understand related to the structure and function of reproductive organ systems, abnormalities and hormones. Based on the problems above then it takes a learning to attract attention or enthusiasm of students. Media is one of the important factors of teaching and learning process. Use of media aims to facilitate teachers in convey learning so students become more easily understand the material. The purpose of this research is to analyze the usage effectiveness of video and mama card in Biology lesson of human reproductive system material. This research used True Experimental Design with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The analysis of data includes quantitative data to student activities and learning outcomes, then descriptive analysis to teacher’s opinion and students’ opinion. The result of this research showed that student activities and student learning outcomes in the experimental class is higher than the control class. Teacher and students gave positive reviews to the learning process. Based on the result of research, it was concluded that use of video and mama card was effective in increasing student activities and student learning outcomes in human reproductive system material.

Abstract

Teaching and Learning process through practice and simulation method direct the students to understand the concept better. This research aimed to find out the students’ achievement in the implementation of practice and simulation method on the ecosystem material as well as the students’ attitude toward the method given. The design of this research was quasi-experimental research. The population of this research was tenth-grade students of senior high school 2 Bae Kudus.The purposive sampling technique was used to choose the sample. The sample that is chosen was X MIPA 3 class (experimental class) and X MIPA 4 (Control class). Based on t-test result, the value of significance (2-tailed) amount 0,00 was obtained. Thedataof this research showed the value of significance < 0,05. It was proved that there is a significant difference on the students’ achievement between the experimental class and the control class.The students’ achievement average of the experimental class was 77,78 and the average in the control class was 57,02.Total of the students who gave the positive response toward practice and simulation method was 77,78%. The implementation of the practice and simulation method directed the students to understand the material being studied better so the students’ achievement becomes optimum.

Abstract

Development of teaching materials is an activity that can broaden and deepen the learning materials so that more applicable. Excess use of materials is compiled detailed material tailored to the student's ability level and learning objectives. This research aims to develop teaching materials addictive and psychotropic substances based Problem Based Learning and conservation in MA with krieria effective. This type of research Research and Development (R & D) to study measures following the 10 steps according Sugiyono research. Readability test is done with the subject 36 students and the implementation of teaching materials made on the subject of 145 students.The results showed a score validation by expert media teaching materials and the material is very valid. The results of students' cognitive learning consists of classical completeness amounted to 80.56% of students received grades above KKM and N-gain of 97.2% of students obtain N-gain in the criteria for moderate to high. The result of the strengthening score caring attitude within the criteria very well(89.14%). Based on the results, it can be concluded that the teaching materials addictive and psychotropic substances based on Problem Based Learning and conservation are developed effectively used for student learning MA.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discover and describe the effectiveness of 5E inquiry learning model by using interactive notebook on the subject of cell. It was a quantitative quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was the whole eleventh grade science students of SMA Negeri 1 Magelang. The researchers used simple random sampling which took the students from Class Science 1 of eleventh grade as the experimental class and Class Science 3 of eleventh grade as the control class. In collecting the data, the researchers used the result of pre-test, post-test and the grades of students from experimental class (using interactive notebook) then the assessment of control class students’ laboratory work report performance. Normality test, homogeneity test, average difference test, the improvement of learning skill measurement, and classical completeness measurement were used for data analysis. The result shown that 5E Inquiry-Learning Model by Using Interactive Notebook on the Subject ‘Cell’ was effective. It was proved by the average of both of classes (experimental class and control class) was significantly different (tcount (7.36) > ttable (2.00)). The difference was supported by the fact that the improvement of learning skill of experimental class students was better the control class students. For the experimental class, the improvement of student learning skill was categorized as medium (index gained 0.61) while control class’ was low (index gained 0.29). In addition, the experimental class had reached the classical completeness rate (the percentage was 87.89%) while the control class had not reached it yet (around 27.27%).

Abstract

Problem based learning (PBL) with video can be the concept of student knowledge on immune system material. The PBL 2013 model is widely used in learning or curriculum, but implementation is rarely used in learning. Based on preliminary observation at SMA N 1, it is known that the absorption capacity of immune system is 21.91% at national exam is the lowest. This research on the effectiveness of problem-based learning models with videos on student learning results in cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. The research sample consists of three experimental classes. Data sources include students' cognitive learning outcomes (pretest-posttest), affective learning outcomes, psychomotor learning outcomes, teacher qualitative descriptive analysis (interview) and student responses with descriptive percentage analysis. Data were analyzed by using the cognitive learning outcomes (pretest-posttest) in experimental classes. The questionnaire of learning implementation shows that the PBL with video on the immune learning system has been done well. The calculation of the N-gain value, the experimental classes has been increased by 0.77 with the high category. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the PBL model for students is effective in applying material to cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning outcomes of students in SMA N 1 Semarang.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is an ability to integrate science knowledge with relevant context and encourage people to behave scientifically. This case study describes the teaching and learning activities at Jincheng Junior High School, Tainan, Taiwan in supporting students’ scientific literacy. This study was a qualitative descriptive study that describes teaching and learning activities in supporting students’ scientific literacy as written in the narrative text. The data was collected by using observation, interview, and documentation. The data was then analyzed through five stages of qualitative data analyses by Nowell et al. (2017). The result shows that there were some key activities conducted at Jincheng Junior High involving laboratory, teaching, assessing, and learning activities. However, there were some limitations of the frequency of conducting laboratory activities and developing students’ inquiry. It can be concluded that teaching and learning activities at Jincheng Junior High School could support students’ scientific literacy.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze students' scientific literacy level on knowledge, competencies, and attitudes aspect, also analyzing the correlation between scientific literacy aspects of knowledge with competencies, attitudes with competencies, knowledge with attitudes. The study was conducted using a survey method with a cross-sectional design. The entire student of class XI MIPA of State High Schools in Demak regency academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as the population. The method in taking the sample was Stratified Random Sampling. The sample of the study is 304 students. Test, questionnaire, documentation, and interview were methods used in collecting the data. The result showed that students' scientific literacy level on knowledge at 37,54% on the “low” category, students' competencies at 36,75% on the “low” category, and students' attitudes at 68,11% on the “good” category. Correlation test results between scientific literacy aspects of knowledge with competencies obtained correlation coefficient at 0,534, between attitudes and competencies obtained correlation coefficient at 0,172, between attitudes with knowledge obtained correlation coefficient at -0,094. Based on the result, the level of students' scientific literacy on knowledge and competencies aspects were classified in the low category. The level of students' scientific literacy on attitudes aspect was classified in the good category. The correlation between knowledge with competencies aspect has a positive correlation in the medium category. The correlation between attitudes with competencies aspect has a positive correlation in the very weak category. But, the correlation between knowledge with attitudes aspect was not correlated.

Abstract

This study is entitled "The Effectiveness of the Make A Match Learning Model on Student Learning Outcomes on the Motion System Material". The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the make a match learning model on student learning outcomes. The assessment indicators in this final project include three domains, which are cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes. The design of this experimental research is the pretest-posttest control group. The population of this study is all students of class XI MIPA of SMA N 1 Jekulo consisting of 4 classes. The sample of this study is taken by a cluster random sampling technique, where students of class XI MIPA 1 as a control class and students of class XI MIPA 2 as an experimental class. Cognitive learning outcomes data (posttest) are tested, affective learning outcomes (attitudes), psychomotor learning outcomes (skills) and student responses are analyzed in a descriptive qualitative manner. The results show the percentage of classical completeness between the experimental and control classes is 91.66% ˃ 62.85%. The attitude of the experimental class students > the control class in each aspect is classified as good and very good with a difference of ≤ 10% in the aspects of the discipline, cooperation, confidence, and curiosity. The number of students who are highly skilled in the experimental class and control class is 58.33% ˃ 34.29%. Student responses to the application of the make a match learning model 52.77% are very good and 47.77% which is good. The conclusion of this research is the make a match learning model is effectively used in the learning of motion system material in SMA N 1 Jekulo.
