Abstract

Mercury is one of the most dangerous heavy metal. It has highest negative effects to human and environment. It has advantage to extract gold from it’s ore, because, naturally, the character of Mercury had high affinity with Gold particle. It is very easy to use Mercury to extract Gold from it’s ore. The name of methode of mineral processing to extract Gold is Amalgamation method. Amalgamation method used tromol that had ball or rod iron inside. The function of them is look like a ball mill to crush and grind the Gold ore.Using Mercury is an easy way to extract the Gold, but, in the other hand, Mercury had been a negative effect that it has been to be continued for along times future. The complexity problems of Mercury could not to be handle by one country or one government, it must to be handled by international and global relationships. Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract — Crushing is one of stage material size reduction in mineral processing. Jaw Crusher is one of the equipment that used to reduction size material and it’s generally used in primary crushing. Feed of crushing is come from mined material (Run of Mine-ROM) that have various shapes like very rounded, rounded, angular etc. Rounded material is one of them. The aim of this research is to calculate the size distribution and the pattern of size distribution product of crushing for rounded material. The equipment of crushing in this research was used Jaw Crusher in Mineral Processing Laboratory, Institut Teknologi Nasional Yogyakarta which 30 samples material. The same pattern of size distribution was obtained from the +4#, -4#+10#, -10#+20#, -20#+40#, -40#+60#, -60#+100#, -100#+200# dan -200# product size distribution. The biggest amount of size distribution was obtained in 4#. Limiting Reduction Ratio (LRR) were distributed in range 4-6. Losses percentage (% losses) of material crushing were less than 10%. Abstract

Reduction Ratio (RR) can be used to estimate the size of product that can be produced by a crusher. The reduction ratio can be calculated in several ways. One calculation that can be done is calculating the Limitting Reduction Ratio (LRR). Limiting Reduction Ratio is a comparison between the largest feed size and the largest product size. This research aims to calculate the Limiting Reduction Ratio in clay stone crushing operations for 30 samples, which was carried out on a laboratory scale, using a single toggle jaw crusher type crusher. Crushed products are separated by hand sieving sizes +4#, 10#, 20#, 40#, 60#,100#, 200#. The research results show that the percentage of crushed products produced is still found in the largest sieve size, namely 4#, with an average amount of 52.33%. The largest feed size ranges from 24 mm to 27 mm and the largest product size ranges from 4 mm to 6 mm. The relationship between total feed weight and total product weight can be expressed in the equation Y = 0.5229 X and R2 = 0.9228, while the relationship between the largest feed size and the largest product size is expressed in the equation Y = 0.2044 X and R2 = 0.9761. The calculation of the limiting reduction ratio ranges from 4.2 to 6.8, with an average value of 5.02. Keywords: Crushing, Jaw Crusher, Mineral Processing, Reduction Ratio, Reduksi
