Abstract

Palm oil production in Indonesia is basically a commodity for export and Indonesia itself is the largest exporter of palm oil in the world. This can prove that palm oil exports from Indonesia are able to compete with other tea exporting countries. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of land area, production quantity, and world price of CPO simultaneously and partially on the volume of Indonesian palm oil exports from 1994-2023. The data used in this research is secondary data in the form of quantitative data sourced from BPS and the World Bank. The area of this research is the Republic of Indonesia. The data analysis technique used is the Error Correction Model (ECM) analysis technique. The research results show that land area, production volume and world price of CPO simultaneously influence the volume of Indonesian palm oil exports. The production quantity variable partially has a positive and significant effect. The variables of land area and world price of CPO partially have no effect. Considering the importance of exports to a country's economy, it is necessary to increase the export volume of palm oil in Indonesia, as one of Indonesia's leading export commodities, by paying attention to factors that can influence export volume.

In developing countries such as Indonesia, economic growth faces two main constraints: human resources and capital accumulation. Bali Province, as an integral part of the Republic of Indonesia, exhibits a unique pattern of economic growth compared to other provinces. Population size has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, HDI also has a positive and significant effect on economic growth, and FDI has a positive and significant effect on economic growth across Bali’s regencies/municipalities. Furthermore, population size and HDI indirectly influence economic growth through FDI. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable input for the Provincial Government of Bali in formulating strategies to enhance FDI as a driver of sustainable economic growth, by optimizing the role of population, improving human resource quality, promoting a more equitable distribution of investment to non-tourism regions, and regulating investment flows in tourism areas to ensure balanced economic growth across all regencies/municipalities in Bali Province.

Abstract

The new trade theory shows the interaction between capital intensity, reflects the comparative advantages of a country as well as the industrial structure, and international capital flows. One main proposition stated if a country has high capital intensity in their industrial structure, and changes tends to be capital intensive, foreign capital will flow into the country because the domestic savings position become lower than investment needs. It can explain why international capital flows from developing countries to the developed countries that are relatively rich in capital. This study attempted to examine the consistency and reliability of the theory in the context of Indonesia. The important thing here is the existence of different viewpoints in assessing the phenomenon of the current account balance. The model used is the restricted error correction mechanism in Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ECM-ARDL) approach. The result indicates that both industrial structure and demographic pattern are affecting Indonesian current account significantly. Specifically, capital intensity negatively affects Indonesian current account. This indicates the higher capital intensity, which means the greater tendency to capital-intensive industry structure, leads to higher current account deficit. The analysis also highlights the importance of demographic pattern in determines Indonesian current account through their impact to savings – investment position.

Abstract

Poverty constitutes a crucial challenge encountered by Indonesia, including Bali Province, potentially impeding economic growth and national development. Poverty can be defined as a condition wherein individuals face difficulties in fulfilling daily needs, encompassing both primary and secondary necessities. This study aims to evaluate the impact of the agricultural sector, Human Development Index (HDI), and investment on the poverty levels in Bali Province. The research encompasses all administrative regions within Bali Province over the period 2010-2022, utilizing secondary data. The methodology employed is panel data regression analysis. The findings indicate that the contribution of the agricultural sector partially exerts a positive and significant effect on poverty levels. In contrast, the HDI variable exhibits a negative and significant influence on poverty levels, as determined through partial analysis. Furthermore, investment does not demonstrate a significant impact on poverty levels. The study concludes that an increase in the agricultural sector's contribution tends to elevate poverty levels in Bali Province. Conversely, enhancements in the HDI significantly contribute to reducing poverty levels in Bali Province.
