Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the availability and adequacy of the active protection system in the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic area. The Active Protection System is limited to fire alarm systems and detectors. The type of research used is qualitative analysis with an observational approach to analyze fire alarms and detection systems as active protection at the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic. Data collection is carried out by observation and interview. Furthermore, a gap analysis method is carried out to compare the availability of fire alarm and detection systems installed in each building, compared to the expected conditions by applicable regulations, so that gaps can be known from the fire protection system in the building in question. The next step is to decide on the availability and adequacy of the building's fire alarm and detection system and provide recommendations that the manager of the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic may carry out. The results of the application of the fire alarm analysis in the main building are 0% with the inappropriate category, and the average in the study program building is 96.57% with a good category. The implementation of the detection system in the main building is 0% with the inappropriate category (no fire alarm and detection system installed), and the average in the study program building is 97.5% with a good category. Suggestions according to the priority scale are that managers make policies on establishing, maintaining, inspecting, and evaluating active fire protection systems regularly.

Abstract

ICAO document 9859 mandates that six stakeholders in its member countries are required to implement a Safety Management System (SMS). The support of all personnel in the organization's efforts to achieve aviation safety must be supported by safety management training. The implementation of online SMS training provides a pedagogical challenge for the instructor, so, methods are needed to stimulate the 4Cs: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. These challenges must be faced, one of which is using a simulator media that has pedagogical advantages that not only help teachers but are also expected to provide a more realistic learning experience. This research has succeeded in implementing a web-based Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) application product that is integrated with safety reporting and can be accessed by all students. The product presents tables and graphs that are used as evidence of formal processes in safety documentation and safety monitoring activities with real conditions in the field. This product also has a General Risk Assessment Process simulation feature that can be used for risk mapping activities for training participants as well as standardized presentation materials. The results of the user experience test show a positive response with an average value above 0.8, representing an application's pragmatic and hedonic aspects.

Abstract

The Firemanship course is one of the mandatory courses taught to pilot cadets. As part of one of the capabilities of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), the firemanship course provides pilot cadets with the ability to handle fire incidents at airports. The application of technology in learning firemanship courses has not been widely practiced by aviation education institutions. Using e-modules can increase aviation cadets’ abilities, including learning motivation. In this research, the e-module for the firemanship course was created using the ADDIE method. The result is an increase in understanding scores and the ability to increase the learning motivation of pilot cadets. The increase can be seen from the minimum score of the pre-test, which is 1.6, increasing to 3.2 in the post-test. The maximum score in the pre-test of 2.2 increases to 3.7 in the post-test. The overall average score also increases in the pre-test from 1.96 to 3.53 in the post-test. This research also shows that there are differences in the understanding scores of Palembang Aviation Polytechnic cadets in firemanship courses. Learning using e-modules also provides a difference in value even though it is not significant. This adds to the literature on the application of ADDIE in making e-modules which are also effectively used in firemanship courses in particular.

Abstract

Firefighting Robotic technology has been used for a long time to achieve aviation safety and security goals. The research is deemed necessary because of some related issues: 1) A pressing need for lecturers and students to have access to learning media; 2) A lack of practical media that are pertinent to industries needs; and 3) Practical learning of Firefighting Robotics necessitates learning media that are by the needs of cadets. This research aims to create an innovative learning media for a firefighting robot course based on the Internet of Things (IoT) with a Proportional-Integrative-Derivative (PID) control system using a multisensor according to learning outcomes. The research method used the Plomp Model with initial data collection techniques using literature study and observations of Firefighting Robot designs and course outcomes. The research results are an automatic fire extinguishing Firefighting Robot that works in a labyrinth with a web-based main control system as a server connected to the client, namely the Firefighting Robot and fire alarm. The PID control system test result is Kp = 100, Kd = 100, and Ki = 10, which makes it stable in maneuvering the labyrinth. Validation results from material and media experts were conducted, and the learning media application successfully carried out system instructions. The material experts resulted in a quality aspect of the material content score of 4.8 with the category "Very Good". As a prototype, the researchers hope the firefighting robot concept can be developed on a large scale to support firefighting activities in real field situations in further research.

Abstract

A fire disaster is one of the disasters that can harm many parties. The danger of fire can result in several threats to safety and property and can often even result in loss of life. There are various things that can start fires, namely human, equipment, and natural factors. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how human variables and fire dangers are related in vocational education environments. Negligence is a fundamental characteristic that cannot be prevented, but this can be minimized by knowing the causes of fires and steps that can be taken to reduce the potential danger of fires caused by human factors. This study includes a cross-sectional study design, a quantitative technique, and a correlational descriptive method. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires, as well as making observations as data to strengthen the results of questionnaire data analysis. The variables used in this research are Fire Fighting Knowledge (X1), Fire Incident Experience (X2), and Fire Fighting Behavior (Y). The study's findings indicate that knowledge and fire prevention behavior are significantly correlated, as are experience and fire prevention behavior, and that knowledge and experience are significantly correlated with fire prevention behavior.
