Abstract

Basal stem rot and upper stem rot of oil palms caused by Ganoderma boninense are important oil palm diseases faced by oil palm plantations in Indonesia. For many years, basal stem rot was found to infect older oil palms that were more than 25 to 30 years old, but the disease began to appear in oil palms that were 10 to 15 years old and was even found infecting oil palm nurseries. Community service will be carried out in October 2023 in Gunung Ambat village, Sei Bingai District, Langkat Regency. The aim of this service is for the public to receive information about prevention and actions that will be taken by smallholder oil palm plantation farmers in the Sei Bingai sub-district, Langkat Regency. The expected target is for the community to distinguish attacks caused by G. boninense so that prevention can be carried out early and there is no decline in people's palm oil production. The community service method is carried out through lectures, discussions, and direct visits to people's oil palm plantations. The implementation of service activities was carried out in preparation by coordinating with community leaders and extension workers, as well as the implementation unit of the Sei Bingai sub-district agricultural service, Langkat Regency. Carrying out lectures and discussions with a team of lecturers and students targeting smallholder oil palm plantation farmers.

Abstract

Program Kampus Merdeka merupakan kesempatan bagi mahasiswa Program Studi Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia untuk mendapatkan kesempatan belajar di luar kampus dan meningkatkan kompetensi sesuai dengan program yang dipilih. Tujuan dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah mensosialisasikan program kampus merdeka yaitu kampus mengajar dan kampus magang bersertifikat. Kampus mengajar telah memasuki angkatan ke-7, dan mahasiswa Prodi Agroteknologi FP UPMI belum ada yang mendapatkan kesempatan ikut program kampus mengajar dan magang bersertifikat. Kendala yang dihadapi adalah kurang mendapat sosilisasi dan informasi langsung bagaimana memperoleh atau lulus pada program yang dituju. Hasil dan evaluasi yang diperoleh setelah sosialisasi bahwa para mahasiswa berminat dan langsung melengkapi dokumen yang menjadi syarat untuk mendaftar pada program kampus merdeka.

Abstract

Penyakit yang sangat penting di perkebunan kelapa sawit adalah busuk pangkal batang yang disebabkan Ganoderma boninense dan merugikan secara ekonomi hampir 43%. Kejadian penyakit akibat G. boninense di perkebunan rakyat telah berdampak terhadap penurunan produksi dan tingkat pendapatan petani juga menurun. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan di desa Tebing Syahbandar Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Tujuan pengabdian untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kemampuan masyarakat tentang penyakit kelapa sawit yang disebabkan G. boninense. Target yang diharapkan adalah masyarakat mampu mengidentifikasi serangan sejak dini sehingga metode pengendalian dengan cara membumbun atau menggunakan bibit unggultahan G. boninense. Metode pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan melalui ceramah, diskusi, dan kunjungan langsung di perkebunan rakyat. Pelaksanaan pengabdian melalui koordinasi dengan Dinas Pertanian Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, penyuluh lapangan, serta masyarakat pemilik perkebunan kelapa sawit. Pelaksanaan ceramah dan diskusi bersama tim dosen dan mahasiswa dengan sasaran petani kebun kelapa sawit rakyat.

Abstract

Para lansia dihadapkan pada tantangan dalam manajemen diri mereka. Kondisi ini dapat dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, termasuk kesehatan fisik, kesejahteraan mental, keluarga dan jaringan sosial yang terbatas. Tujuan dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melakukan penyuluhan manajemen diri untuk peningkatan kesehatan lansia pada posyandu lansia di Kelurahan Sidodadi Kecamatan Medan Timur. Melalui tinjauan literatur mendalam, kami menemukan bahwa lansia yang kurang dalam manajemen diri untuk menjaga kesehatannya seiring dengan pertambahan usia dan dukungan keluarga terdekatnya, sehingga para lansia mengalami kesulitan dalam merencanakan kegiatannya. Beberapa manfaat pengetahuan manajemen diri untuk menjaga kesehatan para lansia yaitu, pendekatan kesehatan, cara mencegah penyakit, menjaga kesehatan, dan mengatasi penyakit di usia lanjut. Memperpanjang usia hidup adalah tujuan kesehatan masyarakat yang sangat penting dengan menekankan kualitas hidup dan manajemen diri. Manajemen diri secara mandiri mengacu pada aktivitas yang terlibat dalam kegiatan para lansia, mencegah dampak buruk, interaksi dengan penyedia layanan kesehatan dan kepatuhan terhadap rencana pengobatan yang direkomendasikan Kemampuan manajemen diri berperan penting melalui interaksi, lingkungkungan, sosial, dan keluarga sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup lanjut usia di Kelurahan Sidodadi Kecamatan Medan Timur.

Abstract

Rice is a staple food in Indonesia, so the demand will continue to increase along with the population growth. Rice cultivation in Indonesia is known for two planting systems, namely wet rice that requires water and dry rice planted in fields that do not require special irrigation. Several regions in Indonesia have types of dry rice, including the almost extinct Fakhaito or black rice from Nias Regency, with a plant age of six months until harvest. The productivity of dry rice is very low, affecting farmers' income due to suboptimal fertilization technology. The aim of this research is to provide learning to students using the SPAD-502Plus chlorophyll meter to detect the growth and health of dry rice plants from Nias. The research results show that treatment with liquid organic fertilizer correlates positively with leaf color, where the amount of chlorophyll is higher in very green rice leaves and vice versa, the amount of chlorophyll decreases in plants with reduced green matter. The use of the SPAD-502Plus chlorophyll meter, by measuring directly, is faster, non-destructive, comfortable, and does not disturb plant growth.

Abstract

Soybean (Glycine max L.) production can be increased through the introduction of colchicine mutation induction to obtain plants that are resistant to disease, and the use of oil palm empty fruit bunches (TKKS) to overcome drought stress can increase soybean production. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of colchicine and the use of TKKS organic materials on increasing soybean production. The research was carried out from June to September 2023 on the agro-agricultural land of the Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia, Jl. Marindal II Village Hall, Pasar 12, Medan. The experiment used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with colchicine (K) concentration treatment (0; 0.01%; and 0.05%) and EFB organic matter interval (M) (0; 5 kg/plot 1 WAP; and 10 kg/plot 5 WAP) repeated three times for each treatment. The results showed that soybeans treated with colchicine concentration had a very significant effect on plant height, flowering age, number of pods per sample, and seed weight per sample per plot at a concentration of 0.05% with a soaking time of 15 hours. The application of EFB organic material had a very significant effect on plant height, flowering age, number of sampled pods, and sampled seed weight at a dose of 10 kg/plot. The combination of treatments, namely K2T3 (0.05% + 10 kg/plot), is thought to have the response of both treatments simultaneously supporting the growth and production of soybean plants.

The use of the SPAD-502Plus chlorophyll meter is a faster, non-destructive, comfortable, and non-disruptive way to measure plant growth, as the measurement is done directly.

Abstract

Petani kelapa sawit rakyat merupakan salah satu aktor penting dalam menjaga kelangsungan keberlanjutan produksi kelapa sawit di Indonesia. Berbagai permasalahan mendasar yang dihadapi petani kelapa sawit rakyat antara lain terkait dengan pendapatan yang tidak ada pada saat tanaman belum menghasilkan, legalitas lahan serta terbatasnya kemampuan mereka dalam mengelola pertanaman kelapa sawit yang baik, akses terhadap dana, informasi harga berlaku, serta penggunaan sarana produksi dan kualitas pertanian. Penerapan kelembagaan ekonomi kebun kelapa sawit rakyat memerlukan perhatian dan dukungan pemerintah dan pelaku usaha lain dalam replanting kelapa sawit. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan penerapan  kelembagaan ekonomi melalui penyuluhan, diskusi dan memberikan contoh kepada petani yang sudah melakukan dan mendapat manfaat peran kelembagaan ekonomi untuk meningkatkan pendapatan sebelum tanaman kelapa sawit menghasilkan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah terlaksana dalam bentuk penyuluhan, diskusi dengan penerapan kelembagaan ekonomi yang diusulkan melibatkan koperasi, kelompok tani kecil, dan didukung oleh lembaga penyedia regulasi, keuangan, dan input dengan program kemitraan program sawit rakyat di kecamatan Bangun Purba Kabupaten Deli Serdang Provinsi Sumatera Utara.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a tropical country, faces significant challenges in preserving its mangrove forests, particularly in the Beras Basah Ecotourism Area, Langkat Regency, which holds high ecological and economic potential. The food estate in mangrove forests aims to develop land for food production, specifically as a source of forage for stingless bees. This community service project aims to preserve the food estate through tree planting in the Beras Basah Ecotourism Area. The methodology includes interviews and discussions, involving 22 participants from Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien, Tottori University Japan, and Universitas Sumatra Utara. The project results indicate a decline in the stingless bee population due to limited food sources from the mangrove area. Planting fruit trees such as water guava, stone guava, and mango is expected to provide ecological benefits, attract tourists, and support the development of a food estate for stingless bees. With a sustainable approach, this food estate program can serve as a model for the development of mangrove forests as ecotourism areas and strengthen food security in the Beras Basah village, Langkat, North Sumatra.
