Abstract

 Abstract. This study aims to determine the use of inquiry-based learning model laboratory to increase critical thinking skills of students of SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh on light reflection material. The method used is a quasi-experimental control group design with pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study is in the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. As for the samples in the study were students VIII2 as an experimental class, and the class as a class VIII5 control the number of students in each class of 30 people. Experimental class taught by laboratory-based inquiry learning model, and the control class was taught by conventional learning models. Data collected through the research instrument is test critical thinking skills in essay form. Conclusions are drawn based on the results of data analysis and processing using Microsoft Word Exel, 2013. The results of data analysis showed an average score of critical thinking skills and experimental control group was 27.90% (low) and 42.02% (moderate). This result was also confirmed by the t-test, the average difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills (α = 0.05) obtained t (6.10) t table (2.39). These results indicate a laboratory-based inquiry learning model can significantly improve the students' critical thinking skills compared with conventional learning models in light reflection material.Keywords: Model inquiry, and critical thinking skills

Abstract

Abstrak Salah satu instrumen pedagogis yang dapat membantu pendidik dalam menyebarkan konten pendidikan dengan cara yang menumbuhkan keterlibatan dan antusiasme di antara siswa adalah media instruksional. Dalam penerapan media pendidikan, sangat penting bahwa pendidik memilah penggunaan media yang cocok digunakan pada tiap materi pelajaran yang akan dijelaskan, sementara juga mempertimbangkan karakteristik individu peserta didik ketika membuat seleksi ini. Sejumlah besar pendidik tetap tidak menyadari pentingnya menggunakan media pendidikan yang tepat, yang penting untuk mencegah pengalaman belajar menjadi monoton dan tidak inspiratif bagi siswa. Mengingat peran penting dalam kerangka pendidikan, media merupakan komponen penting yang membutuhkan perhatian pendidik; dengan demikian, pendidikan mestilah memfasilitasi proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, yang pada akhirnya membantu peserta didik dalam pengejaran pendidikan mereka. Pemanfaatan lingkungan sekitar sebagai media belajar bagi siswa dapat membantu peningkatan hasil belajar dari siswa, misalnya pembuatan bioplastik. Awetan bioplastik biasanya digunakan untuk mengawetkan spesimen tumbuhan maupun hewan memanfaatkan cairan resin dan katalis pada pembelajaran biologi. Spesimen tumbuhan maupun hewan dapat juga diawetkan dalam blok resin (sering dikenal dengan istilah bioplastik). Hasil dari pengabdian ini berupa produk media pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan pendidik dalam memfasilitasi pengajaran. Abstract One of the pedagogical instruments that can assist educators in disseminating educational content in a way that fosters engagement and enthusiasm among students is instructional media. In the application of educational media, it is imperative that educators select media that are appropriate to the subject matter to be presented, while also considering the individual characteristics of learners when making this selection. A large number of educators remain unaware of the importance of using appropriate educational media, which is essential to prevent the learning experience from becoming monotonous and uninspiring for students. Given its pivotal role in the educational framework, media is an essential component that requires the attention of educators; thus, instructors should realize the importance of media in facilitating the teaching and learning process, which ultimately helps learners in their educational pursuits. Utilization of the surrounding environment as a learning medium for students will be very helpful in improving learning outcomes, for example making bioplastics. Bioplastic preservation is usually used to preserve plant and animal specimens using liquid resins and catalysts in biology lessons. Plant and animal specimens can also be preserved in resin blocks (often known as bioplastics). The result of this service is a learning media product that can be used by teachers to teach biology.

Abstract

Bencana alam telah berdampak signifikan bagi berbagai kalangan, terkhusus mereka yang rentan, termasuk anak-anak. Kajian sebelumnya cenderung membahas berbagai macam metode edukasi kebencanaan, namun belum tampak gambaran mengenai tren publikasi dokumen dan pola kolaborasi antara peneliti di Indonesia. Untuk itu kajian ini secara spesifik dilakukan dengan tujuan memetakan perkembangan penelitian terkait edukasi kebencanaan dan pola kolaborasi penulis di Indonesia. Data penelitian berjumlah 253 dokumen dikumpulkan dari Scopus dan dianalisis dengan bantuan software Biblioshiny Versi 5.0 dan VOSviewer Versi 1.6.20. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa trend perkembangan penelitian mengenai edukasi kebencanaan di Indonesia mengalami lonjakan signifikan yang awalnya hanya 12 (2020) menjadi 84 (2024). lebih lanjut pola kolaborasi penulis di Indonesia menunjukkan hubungan kepenulisan lokal dan internasional yang kuat, serta multidisiplin dari berbagai institusi. Dalam rangka penguatan sistem pendidikan, perlu dilakukan pengembangan kurikulum kebencanaan yang terkonsep dengan baik serta penguatan kapasitas pendidik melalui pelatihan berbasis lokalitas dan budaya setempat.AbstractNatural disasters have had a significant impact on various groups, especially those vulnerable, including children. Previous studies have tended to discuss various disaster education methods, but have not provided a clear picture of publication trends and collaboration patterns among researchers in Indonesia. Therefore, this study was specifically conducted with the aim of mapping the development of research related to disaster education and collaboration patterns of authors in Indonesia. Research data amounting to 253 documents were collected from Scopus and analyzed using Biblioshiny Version 5.0 and VOSviewer Version 1.6.20 software. The results revealed that the trend of research development on disaster education in Indonesia experienced a significant increase from initially only 12 (2020) to 84 (2025). Furthermore, collaboration patterns of authors in Indonesia show strong local and international authorship relationships, as well as multidisciplinary from various institutions. In order to strengthen the education system, it is necessary to develop a well-conceptualized disaster curriculum and strengthen the capacity of educators through training based on locality and local culture.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membina dan meningkatkan keterampilan motorik dasar (seperti lari, lompat, lempar, dan koordinasi) siswa sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Putri Betung, Gayo Lues, melalui penerapan metode bermain yang edukatif dan menyenangkan. Metode yang digunakan adalah partisipatif melalui pendekatan learning by playing. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan dan permainan-permainan yang dirancang khusus untuk melatih komponen motorik kasar dan halus. Beberapa permainan yang diterapkan antara lain estafet bola, lompat tali, permainan target, dan permainan tradisional yang dimodifikasi. Peserta kegiatan adalah siswa dari kelas 1 hingga kelas 3 di beberapa SD mitra. Pelaksanaan dilakukan dalam beberapa sesi dengan melibatkan guru-guru setempat untuk memastikan keberlanjutan.: Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada partisipasi dan antusiasme siswa. Teramati peningkatan dalam kemampuan koordinasi, keseimbangan, kelincahan, dan kekuatan otot siswa. Selain itu, metode bermain berhasil menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang positif, mengurangi kecemasan, dan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa. Guru-guru juga mendapatkan wawasan dan contoh praktis tentang metode pembelajaran jasmani yang inovatif, sehingga diharapkan dapat diterapkan secara berkelanjutan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini terbukti efektif sebagai sarana pembinaan keterampilan motorik dasar sekaligus menanamkan nilai-nilai sportivitas dan kerjasama pada siswa

Abstract

Scientific literacy is a crucial competency in 21st-century education, encompassing students’ ability to understand scientific concepts, apply them in real-life contexts, and make evidence-based decisions. Despite various curriculum reforms, assessments such as PISA 2022 reveal that Indonesian students’ scientific literacy remains below the international average. Prior studies have applied Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and STEM approaches separately, yet few have explicitly integrated these with the Engineering Design Process (EDP) and local environmental contexts to systematically enhance scientific literacy. Addressing this gap, this quasi-experimental study examines the effectiveness of a PjBL-STEM model, contextualized by a waterwheel project utilizing local river flow, in fostering students’ deep conceptual learning and scientific literacy on the topic of Work and Energy. The study involved two purposively selected 11th-grade classes (N=60) at SMA Negeri 1 Samalanga: an experimental class taught with the PjBL-STEM-EDP approach and a control class taught conventionally. Instruments were validated (Cronbach’s alpha=0.926) and data were analyzed using t-tests, N-Gain, and effect size (Cohen’s d=2.25). Results showed the experimental group achieved significantly higher scientific literacy (mean post-test = 84.83 vs. control = 65.67; N-Gain = 0.83 vs. 0.49; t(58) = -8.71, p < 0.001, 95% CI [-23.6, -14.7]), with the strongest improvement in designing scientific investigations. The novelty of this study lies in aligning PjBL syntax, EDP stages, and OECD scientific literacy indicators within a local-context project. While deep conceptual learning (DCL) is used here as a theoretical framing rather than a measured outcome, the findings highlight the potential of contextual, interdisciplinary learning to foster scientific literacy, creativity, and critical thinking, supporting the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum and Education for Sustainable Development.
