Abstract

This study analyzes America known to many countries in the world as the country with the largest economy in the world. In order to maintain its hegemony, the United States has always participated in an international cooperation. But in 2016, the direction of the foreign policy of the United States underwent a significant change. The rise of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States, made the foreign policy direction of the United States turn into a nationalist populist direction. With the goal of "Make America Great Again" where Donald Trump wanted to restore the glory of the United States back, Trump changed the foreign policy of the United States to a nationalist "America First". The United States issued a controversial foreign policy of initiating the renegotiation of the NAFTA deal. The renegotiation resulted in a new agreement called USMCA, which has been signed by the three member states of NAFTA. The USMCA trade deal came into effect in 2020. This research uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques through literature studies sourced from several books, journals, articles, and websites. This research uses the perspective of Neorealism, Foreign Policy theory and the level of analysis of the Nation-State. Foreign policy spending that took the initiative to renegotiate the NAFTA deal into USMCA not only has an impact on the United States, but for countries directly or indirectly having cooperation influence in the North American region can be affected. Abstract

One of the main challenges in Japan's defense is the risk of a security dilemma due to the contingency that occurs in the East Asia Region, because each country needs to take action for reasons that have a defensive motive, including Japan. The increasingly challenging security environment of the East Asia Region has brought about drastic changes for Japan recently with its defense rebuilding efforts and Japan's national security policy. By maintaining its basic stance as a peace-loving country, Japan is expected to play a more active role in regional security. In this study, the authors used library research methods and qualitative research. The analysis in this study uses a nation-state level analysis, using the concept of the Security Dilemma, within the framework of the deterrence theory. The perspective in this study uses the perspective of structural realism—neorealism. The findings show that Japan's current foreign policy of adopting Detterence can be reconstructed towards Extended detterence and will continue to develop as Japan's reaction to the contingency that occurs in East Asia and the role of the growing Japan-US alliance is. With a rebuild defense that complies with Japan's constitutional limitations as well as increasing Japan's offensive capabilities, will help Japan contribute more to peace and deterrence in the East Asia Region. Abstract

This research analyzes the impact of the Indonesia-Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IC-CEPA) on the value of Indonesian paper exports to Chile. The year 2017 was the beginning of Indonesia's cooperation with countries in Latin America, IC-CEPA was completed and signed by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Enggartiasto Lukita together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile Heraldo Muñoz Valenzuela at the Ministry Office Overseas Chile. The objectives of the IC-CEPA agreement, among others, are: (a) Promote equitable economic growth and development through the creation of new opportunities for workers and businesses and improve the living standards of the people of the two countries, (b) Promote cooperation in several potential areas of the two countries; (c) Stimulating Indonesian business actors to target Chile's non-traditional markets; (d) Making Chile a bridge for Indonesia's export products in the Latin America region. This research uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques through literature studies sourced from several books, journals, articles and internet sites. This research uses Liberalism perspective and International Cooperation theory. The results of this research indicate that within one year of the agreement, there was a not-too-significant increase in exports due to the pandemic which hindered the entry and exit of goods from Indonesia and Chile. In the paper trade, on the contrary, the constant decline in the value of Indonesia's paper exports to Chile is certainly very detrimental considering the many conveniences offered by IC-CEPA, especially in terms of trade. Abstract

This research analyses Australia's security response to Chinese security threats in the South Pacific. China's presence in the South Pacific with economic assistance, military assistance, and security cooperation have raised concerns for Australia. This concern has made Australia, a regional power in the South Pacific, view China as a threat. Australia's concern is evidenced in Australia's 2020 Defence Strategic Update, which states that Australia is worried about the potential danger, especially in the military threat that China will pose due to expanding its influence in the Indo-Pacific. Australia is making efforts to respond to threats by balancing. This study uses a qualitative method with library research techniques, namely data collection through literature studies sourced from several books, journals, articles, state documents, and websites. This study uses the perspective of Neorealism and the theory of Balance of Threat. This theory explains that the state responds to threats by balancing. The results of this paper are in accordance with the Balance of Threat theory which indicates that Australia responded to China's threat in the South Pacific by carrying out a Pacific Step-up, a military alliance with the United States and Britain and conducting a quadrilateral security dialogue with the United States, Britain and India. Keywords: Chinese Influence, Australian Security, Strategic Defence, Balance of Threat.
