Abstract

A full-day school system actually not new anymore, because some private schools impliedthis system. The difference FDS proposed today is lied on its aplication which not only forstate school but also for private school in all area.Full-day school is a one of adabtability asfits solution to face the decrease of parents attention and development because of workingand also moral quality. But, the idea of full-day school might fit in the traditional schoolingpractices in Indonesia which can add the burden for teachers and students cost and energy.

Abstract

Classroom managementis avariety oftypesof activitiesthat intentionallydonebythe teacherin order to createoptimalconditionsfortheteaching and learning processinthe classroom, consist of pre-learning activity, opening, learning activity and closing.This research was to find English students difficulties in managing classroom on practice teaching. The target population of this research was  the eight semester students English  Academic Year 2012/2013 of FKIP UIR. It was a descriptive research. The instrument were questionaires and interviews.The result of quesionnare and interview of the research show that students who already done practice teaching program still had difficulties in;Pre-Learning, such as checking the readiness of students, space, tools and media.Opening the lesson when practice teaching such as giving apperceptions and delivering competencies (objectives to be achieved) and action plans, and got difficult in doing Learning activityin a systematicstructure and stages. The last, got difficult to closing and giving reflection or create a summary by involving students and do a follow-up to give direction or activity or task as part of remedial or enrichment.

Abstract

CLIL  is  a  methodological  approach  particularly  suitable  for  contexts where students  learn content  through supplementary  teaching materials. The goal of the study is know the positive outcome of Students College after and during the CLIL  applied  on  skill  subjects.  The  sample  of  this  research  was  semester  six students of  Islamic University of Riau who were  taking Microteaching and ESP subject. Clustering random sampling was used here. The  design  of  the  research  was  an  experiment  research  focus  on  Post equivalent  research. The  instruments were  questionnaires,  and  observation. The treatment was given for 8 meetings in form of the students? assignment in giving motivation (story, Al-Quran verse, wise words) for about 5 to 7 minutes. Based on the result, the data showed that there is significant effect of CLIL on the students? outcome of these subjects. The effect of CLIL was the students were stimulated to hear other motivation activities;  the students were familiar with  the moral values which affected  their  life  style, mind set and behavior. The conclusion was CLIL stimulate students? Perception, Moral Perception, spiritual Perception and appear Positive Habits.

Abstract

The article presents the idea of professional development activities from some views to enhance EFL teachers‟ quality and to meet the changing needs of the students which can be best implemented by EFL teachers. Some considerations about professional development activities to be reminder are 1) a match to existing teacher needs, 2) a match to existing school needs, 3) teacher involvment in the activities, 4) active participation opportunities, 5) long-term engangement and 6) high-quality instructors.The contribution will give EFL teachers views about continuous professional development reflect which upon pertinent common goals effectively. In sum up, the professional development activities for EFL teacherwill maintain a vital and critical role in the development of quality of teachers.

Abstract

This study was intended to develop a learning strategy that could improve their readingcomprehension. The strategy selected was sensitizing technique. It was developed forthe sake of improving the students’ reading comprehension, namely: literalcomprehension, interpretive comprehension and critical comprehension. The study wasClassroom Action Research. The procedure of the research consisted of four majorsteps namely; planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. It consisted of twocycles. Each of them consisted of three meetings for the teaching learning process andone meeting for quiz. The result of the research showed that sensitizing readingtechnique was effective in increasing the students’ reading comprehensionachievements. This fact was clearly indicated by the increasing of percentages ofachievement through the cycles of action that was 52.7 % (Pre-test), 66.9 % (Cycle 1),and 81.8 % (Cycle 2). The scores had fulfilled the criteria of success in implementingsensitizing-reading technique namely the improvement of students’ readingcomprehension ability.

Abstract

In maintenance activities at PT. X, which is engaged in the sports equipment industry, is not doing well. So that it can reduce the targeted production results in a day. For that, it is necessary to know the critical components in the degreaser machine that cause the machine to stop. The first thing to do in this research is to select the critical components using a Pareto diagram. Based on the Pareto diagram, it was found that the chain component is a critical component with the amount of damage 4 times (11.76%). The Weibull distribution with two parameters is used to determine the time between failures so that it can be determined when to replace critical components to minimize the damage that occurs. From the calculation of the chain components, the value of the Weibull parameter is obtained from the repair time = 1.101; = 5,331 and the value of MTTR = 1,003 hours. While the value of the Weibull parameter using the operational time is = 1686.458; = 2,205 and MTTF value = 1584.748 hours. From the calculation, the reliability level of the chain components is 90% for 605.438 hours and 80% for 863.348 hours.

Abstract

Kosa kata merupakan hal mendasar dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Semakin banyak kosakata yang dimiliki seseorang maka akan semakin paham dalam memahami suatu kalimat. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan interview dengan guru Bahasa Inggris disekolah tersebut, disampaikan bahwa tantangan yang dihadapi oleh siswa/i yang telah tamat adalah kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang kurang sehingga belum bisa bersaing didunia kerja terutama pekerjaan diperusahaan swasta/asing yang menuntut mereka untuk menguasai bahasa Inggris baik lisan dan tulisan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tim pengabdian memberikan solusi dengan memberikan pendampingan penggunaan aplikasi Hello English yang menghadirkan fitur untuk meningkatkan kosakata bahasa Inggris. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian yakni tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan dan tahap monitoring dan evaluasi. Adapun hasil dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah dilaksanakan di SMKS Budi Dharma Dumai adalah seluruh peserta sangat antusias mengikuti kegiatan pendampingan mulai dari sesi pertama penjelasan aplikasi Hello English, kemudian sesi kedua praktek penggunaan aplikasi dan sesi terakhir diskusi dan tanya jawab. Peserta termotivasi untuk belajar Bahasa Inggris karena aplikasi Hello English mudah digunakan dan tidak menggunakan kuota yang banyak. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini berkelanjutan dengan terus berkomunikasi dengan guru Bahasa Inggris terkait perkembangan siswa siswi dalam penggunaan aplikasi Hello English sebagai media pembelajaran dikelas maupun diluar kelas.

Abstract

Initial activities become important as the stepstone to raise students’ autonomous level. The study aims to explore lecturers’ initial activities to encourage students’ autonomous learning. Autonomous learning is a process to be apprehensive of taking control of literacy. This study used a case study and a content analysis in the qualitative exploration. The English teacher educators at the English language education department, the faculty of teacher training and education in Pekanbaru became the research samples. A qualitative approach is chosen as exploration design with the help of Nvivo 12 Apps since interviews come as the main instrument. Some interview points questioned how lecturers help learners comprehend the material, determine their particular pretensions, chancing out supporting coffers. The study reveals that the lecturer's exertion as the initial activities were giving the material explanation, giving information about the course figure, giving assignments, giving what students need, giving provocation or motivation, sharing experiences, making personal approach, exercising, being a Model, making agreement letter, warning, having a concession, having references of material, participating gests, checking students’ appreciation by reviewing, giving question and test. Yet, giving assignments collectively or in collaboration, systems or incidental test becomes a proposed exertion in the initial process to enhance learners’ autonomous.
