Abstract

This study aims to determine the use of sneakers as an artifactual communication medium that affects public perception (potential voters), to form millennial political identities to increase the popularity and electability of the incumbent presidential candidate Jokowi in the 2019 Indonesian presidential election campaign. The theoretical basis for personal branding is to determine the politics of imaging as a millennial leader against Jokowi's hypebeast style with sneakers. This study uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. The research subject focuses on the phenomenon of Jokowi's hypebeast style with sneakers as a personal branding strategy to win votes from millennials. In contrast, the research object is the sneaker product used by Jokowi during the presidential election campaign from 23 September 2018 to 13 April 2019. The results of this study explain that Jokowi's branding strategy of wearing sneakers is redesigning for self-image in introducing a new identity as a millennial leader. Jokowi is hypebeast style considered to break the new presidential dress order by following the fashion trends that are developing in the country. Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is trying to restore public trust by wearing sneaker brands from local and foreign manufacturers, thus placing Jokowi as an old-class politician who appears contemporary (hype) by adapting the style of millenials.

Abstract

Wayang Multi-Level Linguistic as Character Education Based on Pancasila Values. This study aims to improve the character of the Indonesian nation in formal educational institutions through wayang media. In order to achieve the research objectives, lectures and demonstrations were carried out using the social functional theory foundation or Talcott Parsons' social system. The results of this study indicate that wayang is a multi linguist (regional and national language) and multi level (age level and education level) media based on the motto of Bhineka Tunggal Ika in the Indonesian State container and the values contained in Pancasila, namely: Divine Value, Humanity Value, Unity Value, Wisdom Value, and Justice Value. In a puppet show teaches values not as dogmatic (the truth must be accepted) and theoretically as an indoctrination (understanding the truth from one side only), but democratically and concretely by presenting the lives of the characters as real role models. Multi-level linguistic wayang has become a character education medium as a reference for educators (teachers) and students (students) in educational institutions throughout Indonesia

Abstract

The number of sago processing industries in Jayapura Regency has the potential to increase sago pulp fiber waste that is still not being optimally utilized. This study aims to address the problem of sago pulp waste by turning it into functional and aesthetic handicraft products using painting techniques. The design was carried out through exploration using the research through design (RTD) method, which consists of the stages of understanding material characteristics, exploring materials, and implementing materials. Data collection techniques used observation and interviews to gain an in-depth understanding of the sago waste processing from sago starch (flour) processing from sago trunk (tokok) grating, extraction, sedimentation, and drying. Samples of sago pulp waste were taken from the sago forest located in Kampung Harapan, Sentani District, East Jayapura Regency. The sample characteristics in the research population were two-week-old sago pulp fiber waste that had been crushed from the sago processing of sago pith or trunk contents. The result of this research is a composite sheet in the form of bio-leather from sago pulp waste that is used as a material for making fashion products. This research focuses on the application of a green economy by developing craft raw materials to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 12, namely responsible consumption and production.

Abstract

The Changes on Balungan Lampahan in Pakeliran of Purwa Puppet of Surakarta Style. This research aims to increase the appreciation of the shadow puppet purwa pakeliran according to the times and society. Balungan lampahan as the basic framework, is static and never to be changed, but then it is dynamic and full of changes. The method used is descriptive comparative, while data analysis is based on the structure theory of the wayang play by Alton L. Becker and Arnold Hauzer's social change. The results can be found in three forms of balungan lampahan namely: (1) overnight, (2) compact, and (3) solid. Change is partial and total due to changes in the society that supports wayang, namely as the art of royal ritual traditions (monarchy and ritualism) turning into modern art and entertainment (modern and profane). Thus, the change in balungan lampahan represents changing times and society, so it needs to be appreciated by the puppeteers for the pakeliran. Keywords: changes; balungan lampahan; pakeliran; shadow puppets; Surakarta style

Abstract

The development of Asei Village as a pilot village for the Women's Friendly and Child Protection Village (DRPPA) program has not yet been accompanied by activities that support play and learning spaces for children, as well as women's economic empowerment to enhance artistic entrepreneurship based on the potential of local materials (Khombouw bark). This community service activity aims to provide training in creating bark puppet theater performance models (NEKAY) for women (mama-mama) bark artisans in Asei Village. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method is used in this community service activity through four stages: (1) socialization of environmental- and education-based sustainable tourism (educotourism) programs; (2) training in sketching, creating basic patterns, assembly techniques, doll finishing, and the production of NEKAY ASEI performance merchandise in the form of gift-set hamper souvenirs; (3) assistance in developing performance models through training in vocal performance, musical accompaniment for NEKAY theater performances, and puppet manipulation techniques (movement), using monologue drama scripts based on the stories Friends of Animals and Mama Asei; and (4) development of the NEKAY ASEI theatrical performance through marketing strategies covering the production process, promotional media, and preparation for public performances. The output targets of this community service activity are performance props in the form of Khombouw bark puppets depicting indigenous Papuan children and endemic Papuan animals (the Bird-of-Paradise and the Waigeo Cuscus), as well as the addition of one female character (Mama Asei), and three children's songs with more cheerful and energetic musical arrangements that convey themes of friendship between humans and animals, as well as parental love for children.

Abstract

Lake Sentani is a freshwater ecosystem of significant ecological and socio-cultural value to the people of Papua; however, the sustainability of its biodiversity faces pressure from habitat degradation and the presence of introduced fish species. This study aims to reconstruct ecological knowledge embedded in the bhukere practice as a source of ecological literacy, develop a bhukere-based fish puppet theater to introduce the biodiversity of Lake Sentani, and identify children's responses to this medium. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with a descriptive qualitative approach, encompassing stages of exploration, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and product refinement. The research subjects consisted of 58 children aged 4–5 years from two early childhood education centers in Waena Urban Village, Jayapura City. The developed product is a puppet theater performance titled Niko and Bhukere, which integrates local fish characters, ecological narratives, music, children's songs, and bhukere props made from natural materials and inorganic waste. The results indicate that the performance achieved a positive attention level of 85.4%, an increase in biodiversity understanding from 48.3% to 88.4%, a positive affective response of 88.4%, and a conservation behavior rate of 82.8%. These findings demonstrate that bhukere based fish puppet theater holds pedagogical potential as a medium for ecological literacy that is contextual, participatory, and grounded in local culture. Integrating community ecological knowledge, Lake Sentani's biodiversity, and performing arts offers an innovative strategy for fostering ecological awareness and concern among early childhood learners.

Abstract

The issue of waste, particularly inorganic waste, requires a sustainable management strategy alongside an educational approach capable of fostering environmentally conscious behavior from an early age. This study aims to develop Lahpah (an acronym for Waste Sorting dance music grounded in Papuan culture using an experimental approach to serve as a medium for environmental education and the cultivation of environmental awareness in young children. The study employs a qualitative approach with a practice-based research design, positioning exploration, experimentation, creation, and artistic reflection as integral components of the research process. The research was conducted at YPPK Bintang Kecil Kindergarten in Jayapura City from June to December 2025. Data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review, and subsequently analyzed interactively through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results indicate that inorganic waste holds potential as material for alternative musical instruments through processes of selection, cleaning, design, and acoustic experimentation. This exploration yielded rhythmic instruments and aerophones, which were then integrated into a children's song titled Sorting and Selecting Waste and a dance choreography representing the actions of collecting, sorting, and maintaining environmental cleanliness. The integration of musical elements, movement, and Papuan cultural values created an artistic experience that was contextual, participatory, and educational. Children's responses during rehearsals demonstrated active engagement through observing, playing instruments, imitating rhythmic patterns, and performing choreographic movements. The design of Lahpah dance music offers potential as an arts-based learning model that integrates artistic innovation, local culture, environmental education, and the development of environmental consciousness in young children.
