Abstract

Gelatin adalah molekul polipeptida yang berasal dari kolagen yang merupakan protein utama penyusun jaringan kulit dan tulang pada hewan, salah satunya pada tulang ikan bandeng. Kolagen merupakan protein bermolekul besar yang diperoleh dengan cara ekstraksi dalam suasana asam. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat terhadap kandungan gelatin ekstrak tulang ikan bandeng (Chanos chanos). Metode penelitian meliputi tahap degreasing pada suhu 60 – 70 oC selama 30 menit, demineralisasi dengan variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan akuades dalam waterbath pada suhu 70° C selama enam jam dan penentuan rendemen gelatin. Karaktersitik gelatin dilakukan dengan uji fisik dan kimia. Uji fisik meliputi uji viskositas, penentuan pH, dan uji daya serap air sedangkan uji kimia meliputi analisis kadar air, kadar abu, dan kadar protein. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan gelatin ekstrak limbah tulang ikan bandeng dengan variasi konsentrasi asam sitrat 5%, 7%, 9%, 11%, dan 13% berbanding lurus terhadap kandungan gelatin yaitu semakin tinggi konsentrasi asam sitrat semakin banyak kandungan gelatin yang diperoleh dimana kandungan gelatin tertinggi terdapat pada konsentrasi 13% sebesar 9,78%. Berdasarkan analisis data dengan ANAVA, konsentrasi asam sitrat berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap kandungan gelatin yang diperoleh. Karakterisitik fisik dan kimia gelatin ikan bandeng meliputi viskositas 16,25 cP; daya serap air 4,20 mL/g; pH 4,57; kadar air 13,12%; abu 1,67%; dan protein 69,26%.

Abstract

Endophyte microbes can produce bioactive compounds that can be used as medicinal raw materials. Red fruit is one of the typical fruits that grow in the Papua area that has a potential bioactive compound content but has not been widely studied. So the study aimed to isolate endophyte microbes from red fruits (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) and determine activity against pathogenic microbes. The study began with the isolation of endophytic microbes from red fruit plants (Pandanus conoideus Lam.) using medium Nutrient Broth and Potato Dextrose Broth to obtain endophyte bacteria and fungi, once isolated and purified, pure microbes are inoculated in a medium to tilt. To maximize secondary metabolites, each microbe is fermented for 14 days. Supernatan fermentation results are tested antibacterial activity against test bacteria by the method of diffusion agar.  The test microbes used are Eschericia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella thyposa, Streptococcus mutans, Candida albicans.  Positive endophyte microbes inhibit fermented pathogenic bacteria to maximize the production of their secondary metabolitesMikroba endophyte which has the ability to inhibit pathogenic bacteria characterized macroscopically and microscopically. From the results of the study, 4 endophyte microbes were produced, 2 in the form of molds, and 2 microbes from bacteria. From the results of the study, bakery N2, can inhibit the bacteria E.coli, S. mutans, S, aureus, S. thyposa. Gram staining, indicating N2 is gram negative bacteria. So it can be concluded that the N2 endophyte bacteria of red fruit (Pandanus conoideus Lam.), have bioactive compounds that can inhibit pathogenic microbes.

Abstract

This research is about Antioxidant Activity Test of Kembang Telang (Clitoria ternatea L.) Leaf Ethanol Extract with Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) Method. The purpose of this study was to determine the value of the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of butterfly pea leaves (Clitoria ternatea L.) using the FRAP method. The research method included extraction by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent, followed by antioxidant analysis using a Visible spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 689 nm. The results of the antioxidant activity test of the ethanol extract of butterfly pea leaves (Clitoria ternatea L.) were obtained with an IC50 value of 20.786 ± 0.014 ppm and ascorbic acid with an IC50 value of 8.131 ± 0.094 ppm indicating that the ethanol extract of butterfly pea leaves (Clitoria ternatea L.) has antioxidant activity in the category very strong.

Abstract

Bisphenol A (BPA) and Di-Ethylhexyl Phthalate (DEHP) are chemical compounds that are used as raw materials for making disposable bottles or PET, including gallons. BPA can migrate into food or drink if the temperature is raised due to heating processes. This research aimed to identify BPA and DEHP compounds in various brands of gallon water distributed in Makassar and the effect of sun exposure towards BPA and DEHP migration. The sampling method was done based on an early analysis from field survey data in the location that represents all gallon water refills distributed in Makassar. There were 4 selected samples from 2 most marketed brands of gallon  water refill. Research method included sample preparation with two different treatments, namely with exposure and without exposure to sunlight by letting them settle inside and outside the room for 6 days, afterwards,  BPA and DEHP were analyzed using Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). The results of  the study show that in various brands gallon water packages, both with sun exposure or without, no BPA and DEHP compounds were detected.

Abstract

Research on the antioxidant activity combination of the ethanol extract of Moringa (Moringa oleifera L.) and basil (Ocimim sanctum L.) leaves has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to identify the content of secondary metabolites and measure the value of antioxidant activity as well as the maximum ratio of the combination of ethanol extract of Moringa leaves and basil leaves. The research methods include maceration extraction using 70% ethanol as a solvent, phytochemical screening using specific reagents and antioxidant activity testing using the DPPH method. The results of the phytochemical screening test for Moringa leaf extract and basil leaves were positive for containing chemical compounds of the flavonoid and tannin groups. The antioxidant activity test of Moringa leaf ethanol extract obtained IC50 results of 69.474 ppm which was categorized as a strong antioxidant, while basil leaves of 34.663 ppm which was categorized as very strong antioxidant, while the results of the combined study of antioxidant activity test of Moringa leaf ethanol extract and basil leaves obtained IC50 results at the ratio of 25:25 mg is 51.589 ppm and the ratio of 35:15 mg is 57.009 ppm which was categorized as a strong antioxidant, while at 15:35 mg is the optimum ratio because the IC50 result is 42.714 ppm which was categorized as very strong.

Abstract

Tempurung kemiri merupakan limbah organik yang dapat diuraikan oleh alam, namun dengan teksturnya yang keras membutuhkan waktu yang lama untuk menguraikannya. Tempurung kemiri bisa dijadikan sebagai arang aktif untuk memperbaiki kualitas minyak jelantah. Penelitian ini telah dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh arang aktif tempurung kemiri dengan variasi suhu terhadap kualitas minyak jelantah serta untuk mengetahui berapa suhu optimal adsorpsi arang aktif tempurung kemiri. Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan penentuan kadar air, analisis kadar asam lemak bebas dan analisis bilangan peroksida pada minyak jelantah. Hasil penelitian pada penentuan kadar air yaitu pada suhu 30, 35, 40 dan 45 °C sudah sesuai dengan standar SNI sebesar 0,5 % untuk kadar air minyak jelantah sedangkan suhu 50 °C melewati batas maksimal SNI. Analisis asam lemak bebas pada suhu 30, 35, 45 dan 50°C melewati standar SNI untuk minyak jelantah sebesar 0,30 % sedangkan suhu 40 °C sebesar 0,22 % sesuai standar SNI. Analisis bilangan peroksida pada suhu 30, 35, 45, dan 50 °C melewati standar SNI untuk minyak jelantah sebesar 10 meq/kg sedangkan suhu 40 °C sebesar 8,8 meq/kg telah sesuai standar SNI. Suhu optimal adsorpsi arang aktif tempurung kemiri dalam meningkatkan kualitas minyak jelantah yaitu pada suhu 40°C.

Abstract

Analisis proksimat merupakan analisis yang dilakukan untuk mengetahui komposisi kimia pada suatu bahan yang meliputi analisis kadar air, abu, protein, lemak, dan karbohidrat, sedangkan kolagen merupakan protein serabut yang memberikan kekuatan dan fleksibilitas pada jaringan tulang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kandungan proksimat dan kadar kolagen pada kulit ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides). Kolagen yang diperoleh setelah ekstraksi melalui tiga tahap yaitu tahap deproteinisasi dengan larutan NaOH 0,05 M, tahap hidrolisis dengan larutan CH3COOH 0,5 M dan tahap ekstraksi dengan aquades pada suhu 45 ºC, hasil dalam bentuk serat berwarna kecoklatan dengan berat kolagen 2,61 g. Hasil dari analisis proksimat menunjukan kandungan proksimat tertinggi yaitu pada protein sebesar 79,27 %, diikuti kadar lemak 77,45 %, kadar abu 16,87 %, kadar air 0,11 %, kadar karbohidrat 0,039 %. Pengukuran kadar kolagen ekstrak pada kulit ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides) menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 231 nm, menunjukan kadar kolagen ekstrak kulit ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides) sebesar 6,27 %. Hasil ini menunjukan kulit ikan tawassang (Naso thynnoides) dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan altarnatif pengganti kolagen yang mudah diperoleh dan halal selain kolagen yang bersumber dari tulang sapi dan tulang babi.

Abstract

Kasumba turatea (Carthamus tinctorius L.) is a plant that has been used as traditional medicine in South Sulawesi. Themain component of C. tinctorius L. flowers is hydroxysafflor yellow A, which functions as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant,and platelet aggregation inhibitor. This review highlights pharmacological potential of C. tinctorius L. as an antibacterialagent. The method involves a literature review from various databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. Theresults show that C. tinctorius L. extracts are effective against various pathogenic bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes,Streptococcus iniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Bioactive compounds like carthamin, phenolics, and flavonoids exhibit significant antibacterial activity. Additionally, C. tinctorius L. extracts also show potential as anthelminticand antioxidant agents. Further research is required to isolate and characterize specific bioactive compounds, followed by in vivo validation and clinical study to confirm their efficacy as well as safety.

Abstract

Inflammation is the body's physiological response to stimuli such as infection, trauma and chronic disease. Its exacerbation can lead to deterioration in health and damage to tissues in organs such as the lungs, kidneys and liver. The drive behind the development of anti-inflammatory drugs is to improve treatment efficacy and reduce adverse effects. The primary aim of this article is to deliberate on the pharmacological properties of compound from C.tinctorius as an anti-inflammatory agent. Through an extensive study of data we made a literature review of 17 research conducted to unravel the potential of compound from C.tinctorius as an anti-inflammatory agent. The ability of Carthamus tinctorius to alleviate inflammation is demonstrated by its ability to inhibit the activation of the NF-κB pathway and suppress the binding of the TGF-β1 promoter. These molecular processes hold the promise of ameliorating lung injury by attenuating the inflammatory response through suppression of the TLR 4-dependent signalling pathway, thereby improving the health of rats suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, a condition characterised by inflammation and vascular tissue repair. In addition, compounds in C. tinctorius are effective in reducing T lymphocyte (CD4) apoptosis in sepsis through their anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects. The anti-inflammatory mechanism is also demonstrated by reducing inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 in the lungs, kidneys and liver.
