Abstract

Customer loyalty is critical for success in today's saturated mobile telecommunications industry. However, maintaining allegiance remains challenging given technology advancements and intensifying competition. This study examines the determinants of loyalty towards Simpati, the prepaid brand of Indonesia's largest operator Telkomsel. A qualitative case study methodology was employed, comprising an extensive literature review on customer experience, satisfaction, trust, switching costs and their influence on brand loyalty in the mobile sector. Particular focus was placed on publications related to Telkomsel and its prepaid offerings. Customer data from secondary sources was also analyzed to identify patterns relating to the research objectives. The findings indicate that service quality is a key antecedent of customer experience and satisfaction. Superior fulfillment of expectations cultivates a positive brand image and drives attachment. Meanwhile, affective factors like emotional engagement and trust act as mediators reinforcing loyalty intentions over the long-term. Competitive pricing and targeted promotional campaigns also enhance perceived value. Additionally, high perceived switching costs curb defection propensity due to customers' sunk investments in the relationship.

Abstract

Financial distress is a condition of financial difficulties before entering the bankruptcy stage, so bankruptcy itself is the impact of financial distress, and the company can no longer be saved. The chaotic economy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic had a negative impact on various sectors, especially Islamic banking institutions, which experienced a decline in financial performance and even experienced financial distress. The purpose of this study is to analyze the prediction of financial distress in Islamic Commercial Banks in Southeast Asia using the Springate S-Score method, as well as to see and determine differences in the level of financial distress in each Islamic Commercial Bank that is used as the research sample. The research method used in this research is quantitative, and the research design used is descriptive and comparative. This study used a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 4 Islamic Commercial Banks in Southeast Asia with a 5 year research period. The data analysis applied descriptive analysis techniques, the Springate S-Score method, and the ANOVA Test. The results of this study indicate that each Islamic commercial bank used as a sample is categorized as distressed based on Springate calculations for the 2017-2021 period, and there are differences in financial distress conditions at each bank.

Abstract

Zakat is an Islam instrument used to help alleviate poverty and improve community welfare. Even though the potential of this instrument in Indonesia is very large, the income is still very low due to the lack of trust known as Muzakki (zakat payer). Therefore, this research aimed to explore the factors that influence Muzakki in zakat institutions and the provision intention. Data collected from a survey of 207 valid observations was validated using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the variables and examine the predictive relevance of the model. The results showed that peer influence and system fairness influence trust institutions, while zakat institution can improve fairness and transparency for Zakat recipients. Furthermore, to enhance the trust of Muzakki, marketers need to employ strategies to influence a group of individual to ensure customers are inclined to trust the zakat institution.

Abstract

The Islamic capital market industry has grown rapidly over the past five years; however, in 2022, Islamic capital market assets comprised only 6.42% of Indonesia's total financial assets, which are predominantly controlled by conventional finance at 89.31%. The performance of Islamic mutual funds has steadily declined over the past three years due to limited Islamic assets in the capital market, low levels of financial literacy and inclusion, and the Muslim community's preference for traditional investments such as property, gold, and bank savings. Since 2022, Islamic mutual funds have been further impacted by market volatility, high interest rates, and the revocation of tax incentives. This study uses panel data regression analysis to examine the influence of macroeconomic variables, the Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (DJIMI), and mutual fund attributes on the performance of Islamic mutual funds in Indonesia during 2019-2023. The results show that the money supply, DJIMI, and expense ratio negatively affect performance, while Indonesian crude oil prices and fund age positively impact performance, and fund size shows no significant effect. Overall, these six variables account for 96.27% of the performance of Islamic mutual funds in Indonesia. This research contributes to signaling theory, market efficiency, and provides practical insights for investors, managers, and policymakers in advancing Islamic mutual fund instruments.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide an overview and analyze the following factors: price, location, product diversity, and store atmosphere in the retail mix and halal awareness on customer decisions to buy halal cosmetics products at Sociolla stores in Bandung. This research uses a descriptivecausality approach and uses SmartPLS software to conduct PLS-SEM analysis. Respondents in this study were people in Bandung who had bought cosmetics at Sociolla stores in Bandung, with a total sample size of 261 respondents. The results of research conducted on descriptive analysis have shown that all variables are in the high category. Then, the results showed that price, location, and product diversity had a positive effect on cosmetic purchasing decisions at the Sociolla store in Bandung. Meanwhile, the variables of shop atmosphere and halal awareness have no effect on cosmetic purchasing decisions at the Sociolla store in Bandung. This research implies that the Sociolla store in the city of Bandung can optimize retail marketing strategies through expanding price segmentation, stocking fulfilled goods, and choosing locations with consideration of similar stores, as well as to the government to pay more attention to the spread of non-halal cosmetics.

Abstract

This study examined the moderating effect of age on switching intention among Islamic bank customers in Indonesia who also hold accounts in conventional banks using the push, pull, and mooring approach. A quantitative research approach was adopted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) for data analysis with a sample of 324 respondents. The findings revealed that the Push, Pull, and Mooring approach significantly affect switching intention. Specifically, dissatisfaction and regret were identified as key components of the push factor, religious motivation represented the mooring factor, and alternative attractiveness and subjective norm were central to the pull factor. Age emerged as a critical moderating variable. The mooring factor had a significant impact on customers aged 35–45 years, while the push factor was more influential among younger customers (17–35 years) and those above 45 years. In contrast, the pull factor consistently affected switching intention across all age groups. These results provide practical insights for decision makers in planning targeted marketing strategies and contribute to the marketing management literature, particularly in the context of Islamic banking.
