Abstract

The Sundanese script is one of Indonesia’s traditional scripts. The existence of Sundanese script is still being preserved by cultural activists and the Sundanese script literacy community, one of which is through calligraphy in Sundanese script. This article will analyze the calligraphy of Sundanese script by Edi Dolan posted on his social media. The Sundanese calligraphy that will be discussed is in the form of puppets, animals, and humans. The Sundanese calligraphy will be reviewed through an iconographic approach. Iconography has three levels in analyzing objects, namely (1) Pre-iconography, which is to describe the formal aspects of the object; (2) Iconography, which is to interpret images, stories, and metaphors; (3) Content analysis through revealing the intricacies of the object. The results of the research elaborate on the formal aspects found in Sundanese calligraphy objects, resulting in multidimensional interpretations built on images, stories, and other multidimensional object meanings, thus showing a complete correlation of all these aspects in expressing Sundanese identity.

Abstract

Gendhing Panembrama was a creative and innovative product when Paku Buwana X reigned in the Negari Surakarta. Gendhing Panembrama emerged when the Dutch East Indies government imposed restrictions on political and economic activities in Karaton Surakarta. The restriction aimed to remove Paku Buwana X’s legitimacy from the political and economic side. Gendhing Panembrama became one of the symbols of Paku Buwana X’s resistance to the Dutch East Indies government policy. Resistance through the creation of Gendhing Panembrama resulted in the enforcement of the king of Surakarta’s sovereignty and legitimacy. This study aims to reveal the background of the Gendhing Panembrama creation and the events surrounding the Gendhing Panembrama creation. This study employed a historical approach and symbolic interpretation. From the study conducted, it was concluded that the creation of Gendhing Panembrama was a means for Paku Buwana X in maintaining his sovereignty and legitimacy. The intelligence of Paku Buwana X in managing the musical arts amid the political pressure of the Dutch East Indies government, in the end, could radiate his majesty, authority, and power and maintain the Javanese tradition of the Karaton Surakarta.

Abstract

The 19th century was a turbulent period for the island of Java, especially for its Javanese inhabitants, who had recently survived a devastating conflict known as the Java War. Prince Diponegoro became a symbol of Javanese resistance and a pivotal figure, signifying the inception of the high colonial era under the rule of Pax Nederlandica. Key historical figures like Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito, Mangkunegoro IV, and Raden Saleh Syarif Bustaman came of age in this epoch. The research project seeks to juxtapose the thoughts of these three key historical figures. A historical approach is used to analyze the available primary and secondary data and to constitute a metaphorical approach for reading art through the prism of these three exceptionally talented figures. The creative process of “The Intersection of Time” has been produced based on various considerations. Their interactions resulted in (1) heightened social awareness, which is evident in the way their thought processes responded to contemporary socio-economic, political, and cultural conditions during their respective lifetimes; (2) increased aesthetic awareness, allowing for creative responses to their environment and contemporary circumstances through their work; and (3) enhanced spiritual awareness, informing their individual and collective initiatives to protect Java’s circumstance. Drawing from a profound understanding of Javanese history, the history of the three selected individuals, and their artwork, the film “The Intersection of Time” will effectively encapsulate the distinct spirit and zeitgeist of the 19th century, setting it apart from conventional historical narratives.

Abstract

Tujuan pada penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas penerapan model Student Facilitator and Explaining dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar pada Perpindahan Kalor di Sekitar Kita. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif, dimana data dalam penelitian berupa angka-angka dan analisis menggunakan statistika.One group pretest posttest design merupakan jenis design yang dipilih dan subjek penelitian yang digunakan hanya satu kelas yaitu kelas V SDN Kalirejo 02 Ungaran Timur. Hasil yang didapatkan dari perhitungan uji-t yaitu Lhitung  19.25723> 0.1691 Ltabel jadi  Ho diterima. Hal ini berarti siswa lebih baik daripada sebelumnya dan dapat dikatakan bahwa model Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFE) efektif terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada subtema Perpindahan Kalor di Sekitar Kita kelas V SDN Kalirejo 02 Ungaran Timur.

Abstract

The transformation of Lampung tapis cloth into a modern fashion product through innovations in manufacturing techniques and materials used has had a significant impact on cultural and economic aspects. The purpose of this study is to analyze the transformation of tapis cloth with a focus on innovations in techniques and materials used and their impact on cultural and economic aspects. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data sources used are informants, places and events, and documents. This study collected data through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The data obtained were analyzed using an interactive model. The results of the study indicate that the transformation of Lampung tapis cloth through innovations in techniques and materials was carried out to adapt to the development of the times and dynamic consumer tastes, so that tapis cloth remains relevant and in demand by the wider community. The transformation of tapis cloth has an impact on the cultural aspect, namely supporting efforts to preserve regional culture, strengthening regional identity, and promoting Lampung culture to the national and international levels. In the economic aspect, the transformation of tapis cloth is able to increase people's income and absorb labor, thus providing a positive contribution to the local economy and improving people's welfare.

Abstract

Peningkatan apresiasi terhadap batik gaya modern di Surakarta pada awal abad XXI merupakan fenomena penting untuk dipelajari sebagai referensi untuk terus menjaga kelangsungan batik atau pelestarian seni tradisi lainnya. Apresiasi terhadap batik gaya modern dipengaruhi oleh wujud seni dan esensi dari karya yang dikreasi oleh penciptanya. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan menjelaskan wujud dan esensi batik gaya modern di Surakarta pada awal abad XXI. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian permasalahan melalui penelitian deskriptif kualitatif studi kasus pada karya Pandono. Metode pengumpulan data yang dignakan adalah wawancara, observasi, analisis dokumen, dan studi pustaka. Setelah dilakukan analisis terhadap data yang terkumpul, diketahui bahwa wujud batik gaya modern yang dikembangkan di Surakarta pada awal abad XXI tidak mengacu pada pakem visual batik gaya klasik ataupun batik tradisi lainnya, namun seringkali masih mengambil bentuk-bentuk khas dari batik klasik untuk diolah dengan prinsip desain yang berbeda sebagai penanda bahwa batik gaya modern tersebut masih terdapat benang merah dengan batik klasik. Esensi batik gaya modern lebih bersifat profan sebagai ekspresi keindahan dan bentuk kecintaannya terhadap tradisi melalui inovasi tradisi bukan pembekuan tradisi.

Abstract

Kain tapis merupakan salah satu seni tradisi yang diangkat menjadi produk unggulan daerah Lampung. Berbagai pengembangan telah dilakukan untuk mendorong kain tapis menjadi produk industri kreatif berbasis budaya lokal yang mampu bersaing pada pasar global. Metode penelitian yang digunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka, wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan metode interaktif melalui pengumpulan, reduksi, sajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengidentifikasi serta menganalisis secara mendalam pengembangan produk kain tapis Lampung dengan metode ATUMICS. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, telah terjadi banyak perubahan dan perkembangan pada kain tapis pada aspek teknik, fungsi, material, motif, konsep penciptaan, dan produk yang dihasilkan. Melalui pengembangan yang dilakukan kain tapis mampu bersaing dalam industri kreatif yang kompetitif dan menciptakan produk sesuai kebutuhan pasar sehingga mendorong meningkatnya perekonomian daerah, sekaligus penopang keberlangsungan seni tradisi pada era globalisasi
