Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve mathematics learning outcomes literacy and numeracy skills by using a realistic mathematics education (RME) approach, especially trigonometry comparison material of SMA Muhammadiyah Imogiri. Students of grade X E1 SMA Muhammadiyah Imogiri are the main objects involved in this research. This RME approach model is used as a strategy to improve students' literacy and numeracy skills about trigonometric comparison material. The results of this study show that applying the RME approach is very effective because students are able to apply contextual problems related to trigonometric comparisons and are able to develop their own discipline and mutual cooperation attitudes, the significance of mastering students' literacy and numeracy skills in applying and solving contextual problems in trigonometric comparisons. Based on a sample of 24 students of grade X E1, it is proven that more than 80% of students are complete and able to apply contextual problems in trigonometric comparisons, while less than 15% of students are incomplete and unable to apply contextual problems.

Abstract

Abstrak: Matematika sangat berperan penting dalam perkembangan teknologi modern dan tidak dapat dipisahkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, oleh sebab itu siswa perlu disiapkan untuk memiliki kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis sehingga siswa akan lebih mudah dalam memecahkan suatu masalah yang melibatkan matematika mengingat pemanfaatan matematika yang sangat luas. Siswa yang kreatif akan mampu bersaing dalam kehidupan nyata. Dalam usaha menumbuhkan kemampuan tersebut maka salah satu alternatif yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan menggunakan pendekatan contextual teaching and learning (CTL). Komponen pendekatan CTL dapat menumbuhkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif yang memuat indikator orisinilitas, fluency, flexibility dan elaboration.

Abstract

Research on the relationship between mathematical attitudes and cultural values is lacking, especially in non-Western educational contexts. This study proposes mindset interventions based on the philosophical and symbolic interpretations of Kawung Batik, a Javanese motif expressing harmony, resilience, self-reflection, and social connectivity. The methodology combines theoretical literature with a cultural-symbolic understanding of Kawung's relevance. Saefudin et al. (2023) identified six psychological dimensions of mathematical mindset: beliefs about ability, reactions to adversity, attitudes toward failure, appreciation of effort, openness to critique, and perceptions of peer success. The symbolic constructs are carefully aligned with these dimensions. The framework includes four STEAM pedagogical designs: reconstructing geometric shapes, algorithmically producing patterns, studying batik materials and processes, and critically reflecting on cultural significances. These scenarios stimulate emotional and cognitive development and promote a culturally integrated mathematical identity. The proposed methodology reframes culture as a powerful tool for transforming students' mathematics learning experiences. This study lays the groundwork for classroom-based research, including iterative design studies to confirm the model's pedagogical and affective effects.

Abstract

Abstract. This community service initiative seeks to enhance the competencies of educators within the  Mathematics Teachers' Working Group at Madrasah Aliyah DI Yogyakarta in the design and execution of differentiated mathematics instruction and the cultivation of effective pedagogical practices. The methodology comprises five stages: needs assessment, conceptual and practical training, mentorship in material development, classroom execution, and evaluation and reflection. A total of 145 educators engaged in this series of activities. The findings indicated an average enhancement in teacher comprehension scores of 29.4%, with 87.5% of participants successfully creating quality lesson plans, 30% documenting effective practices, 95% engaging actively in all activities, and 85% reporting high satisfaction with the program. This activity fostered enhancements in pedagogical competence, instructional creativity, and reinforced a culture of collaboration and professional reflection among educators. This community service model possesses the capacity for replication and further enhancement within other teacher communities on a continuous basis.     Abstrak. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru di Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Matematika Madrasah Aliyah DI Yogyakarta dalam mendesain dan mengimplementasikan pembelajaran matematika yang terdiferensiasi dan menyusun praktik baik pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan mencakup lima tahap, yaitu identifikasi kebutuhan, pelatihan konseptual dan praktik, pendampingan penyusunan perangkat ajar, implementasi di kelas, serta evaluasi dan refleksi. Sebanyak 145 orang guru mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan ini. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan rerata skor pemahaman guru sebesar 29,4%, sebanyak 87,5% peserta berhasil menyusun modul ajar berkualitas, 30% menghasilkan dokumentasi praktik baik, 95% berpartisipasi aktif dalam seluruh kegiatan, dan 85% menyatakan kepuasan tinggi terhadap program. Kegiatan ini mampu mendorong perubahan positif dalam kompetensi pedagogik, kreativitas instruksional, serta penguatan budaya kolaborasi dan refleksi profesional guru. Model pengabdian ini berpotensi untuk direplikasi dan dikembangkan lebih lanjut dalam komunitas guru lain secara berkelanjutan.
