Abstract

Analysis the concentration of ammonia in the air and sanitation of poultry and health sigh on workers in the poultry Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat. Poultry is the agribusiness that still developed in Indonesia. CV.Bima is poultry located in the stabor Dusun III Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat. One of the negative impacts of the poultry odor is caused by the high concentration of ammonia gas. This research aims to know The concentration of ammonia in the air and sanitation of poultry and health sigh on workers in the poultry of Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat. The type of research used is descriptive. Population in this research is 32 people workers that is used in total sampling. The results showed that the concentration of ammonia in the air in poultry of Desa Sei. Limbat Kecamatan Selesai Kabupaten Langkat did not exceeded the level of the quality standard specified in KepMenLH No 50 in 1996. The highest point on range performed in area behind red chicken livestock is 0,1485 ppm. Conclusion of this research is the concentration of ammonia (NH3) in the air have not exceeded the quality standards. Based on the characteristics of workers are age, education, gender, work hours per day, working period, and smoking, there are 9 workers who have respiratory tract disorders and 6 people who have complaints of eye irritation, while for the complaints of skin irritation there are no workers getting it. Therefore it's recommended to chicken farm to be attention health of worker by give self protective tools for workers , execute poultry sanitation properly and taking care of poultry environment. Abstract

Analysis the levels of carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the air and respiratory disturbance cadger in the market Sangkumpal Bonang Padangsidimpuan city in 2013. The market is a public place where there is a process of buying and selling between sellers and buyers. Sangkumpal bonang market is one of the traditional markets are located in the Padangsidimpuan city. The activity of cadger who trade on the sidewalk and the street market can lead to cadger exposed by the pollutants. This is caused by transportation activities which may result in respiratory tract disturbance. This research aims to know the levels of carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the air and respiratory disturbances at cadger in the market Sangkumpal Bonang Padangsidimpuan city in 2013. This type of research is descriptive. The sample in this research 67 people with using proportional stratified random sampling. The results showed that the majority of respondents aged 41-50 years (38.3%), Most were female gender (67.2%), education level is senior high school (38.8%), respondents who smoked (49.3%), respondents have been trading for ≤ 10 years (49.3%) and have been trading hours of respondents > 8 hours per day (55.2%). Based on the measurement results, the highest point on the front is 18 323 μg/Nm3 for CO and 85.10 μg/Nm3 for NO2. A total of 26 cadger who have complaints of respiratory tract disturbance. The conclusion from this study is that the levels of CO and NO2 around Sangkumpal Bonang market has not exceeded the quality standard. It is recommended to Governments to create policies that govern about the trade cadger in order to avoid exposure to CO and NO2 resulting from transportation activities which could lead to the occurrence of respiratory tract disturbances. Abstract

ABSTRACT   Scabies is known in Indonesia as gudik, kudis, buduk, kerak, penyakit ampera or gatal agogo or body louse. This diseases is transmitted from human being to the human being, from animals to human being, and conversely. The prevalence of scabies at the Puskesmas (primary health care) in Indonesia is 4,6% – 12,9% and scabies is on the third rank of 12 skin diseases. The prevalence of scabies is the higher in environment with the higher density and the poor sanitation. This research aims to study a correlation between environment sanitation and personal hygiene with the scabies incident at Rutan (detention center) branch of Sibuhuan, regency of Padang Lawas. The applied method in this research is analytic by corss sectional design. The population of this research is all of prisoners who live in Detention center branch of Sibuhuan. The sample is total population for 42 persons. The data is analyzed by univarian and bivarian with Chi – square test on significant level 95%. The results of study indicates that environment sanitation variable, i.e. the floor condition (p = 0,001) has a correlation to the scabies incident. The variable of ventilation, humidity, lighting and availability of pure water are not considered because fulfill requirement by the density of the detention center did not fulfill the health requirement. The personal hygiene variable, i.e. genital cleanness (p = 0,029) and clothes and towel cleanness (p = 0,014) has a correlation to the scabies incident. While the skin and hair cleanness variables (p = 0,286), the hand, foot and nail cleanness (p = 0,636) and the cleanness of bad and bad cover (p = 0,654) has not a correlation to the scabies incident. It is suggested the Management of Rutan (detention center) Branch of Sibuhuan Regency of Padang Lawas to regulate the density of the facility and improve the floor condition and to maintain the environment sanitation of the detention center to minimize the scabies.     Keywords : Scabies, Environment Sanitation, Personal Hygiene

Abstract

Seeds areca extract (Areca catechu L.) was result of percolation of Seeds areca. Seeds areca extract (Areca catechu L.) could be used as natural preservative. Areca seed extract contains polyphenols which delay the growth of microbial spoilage. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of Areca seeds extract (Areca catechu L.) in extending the shelf life of mackerel (Rastrelliger catagurna). This study used quasi experiment with Pre and Post Test Design. The object of this research was mackerel. This experiment was conducted with four treatments: without immersion (control), immersion using areca seed extract with a concentrations of 0,5%, 1%, 1,5%, and 2% in 1 L of water and any treatment carried out four repetations. The average preserving time of mackarel at concentrations 0%, which is 5 hours 45 minutes, a concentrations 0,5% which is 7 hours 45 minutes, the concentrations of 1% 9 hours 15 minutes, the concentrations of 1,5% which is 9 hours 37 minutes, and the concentrations 2% that is 10 hours 37 minutes. The result of this study showed that there were differences in durability mackerel without soaking and after soaking Areca seeds extract. The results showed that the durability of mackerel without soaking and soaking the fish were given seeds areca extract at different concentrations. Mackerel using seeds areca extract 2% produces the most durable fish, but has a bitter taste after being fried. While the mackerel using seeds areca extract 1% had retentiontime not too long, but do not have a bitter taste when fried, and fish without soaking faster slimy and foul smelling Keyword: Areca (Areca catechu L.), mackerel fish (Rastrellinger catagurna), Preservative.

Abstract

Waste is something material or solid objects that are no longer used by humans and discarded. Worse system of waste management can be a negative impact on health. In addition to infecting the skin, the disease can be congenital garbage worm infections. One of the people at risk for skin disorders and intestinal worms are officers garbage. It is necessary to know the relationship between personal hygiene and using of personal protective equipment (PPE) with complaints of skin disorders and worm on Pematangsiantar waste transporter officer. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of personal hygiene and using of personal protective equipment (PPE) with complaints of skin disorders and worm on Pematangsiantar waste transporter officer in 2012. This research is analytic survey research to a sample of 45 respondents were selected by simple random sampling method. The method used was interviews using questionnaires and took examinations on faecal worm respondent. The results showed that all respondents have good personal hygiene in the category so that data analysis can not be done. Fisher's exact test results, there was no significant relationship between the use of personal protective equipment with complaints of skin disorders (p = 0.321) and worms (p = 0.613). The Sanitation Department is expected in order to further improve sanitation and provide personal protective equipment for transporter officer. Also expected to cooperate with the Health Department in an effort to educate officers about personal hygiene and the using of personal protective equipment at work so they do not pay attention to personal hygiene and disease associated with waste.   Key Words: Personal Hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment, Complaint of Skin Disorders, Worms

Abstract

ABSTRACT Noise is unwanted sound from an activity which could cause disruption of human health and comfort environment. The impact of noise like physiological disturbances, psychological, communication and effects of hearing loss. At this time the noise began to increase in the community in the form of physical development activities as a means of transport, should be controlled noise level so as not to exceed the limits. The objective of this study to know correlated the exposure to noise and the characteristics of the driver becak vespa to the blood pressure in Kota Padangsidimpuan. Type of research is a survey has analytic with research design cross secsional. The variables measured were the characteristics of the driver, the noise exposure and blood pressure. The population in this research is the driver becak vespa, which conducted to 300 persons and a sample of 55 people. Research is analyzed with test Spearman and Mann-Whitney. The research found no significant correlation between age and work time towards blood pressure (p>0,05) with correlation power very weak(r<0,02)and way of correlation is positive meanwhile long exposure to noise and exposure to noise have way of negative with test Spearman. No significant correlation between use of helmet and habit drink coffee towards blood pressure (p>0,05) with Mann-Whitney. This is suggested to reduce noise by not modified exhaust vespa, use of helmet, reducing long exposure with rest/not in places with high sound intensity, is expected to relevant agencies such as the Department of Health, the Department of Transportation to educate driver about the influence of noise and his way, and the driver with the rise in blood pressure checked his health. Abstract

Sampah adalah sesuatu yang tidak digunakan, tidak disenangi atau sesuatu yang dibuang yang berasal dari kegiatan manusia dan tidak terjadi dengan sendirinya. Pemulung sangat erat kaitannya dengan sampah, karena pekerjaanya berhubungan dengan sampah. Pemulung sangat beresiko terhadap penyakit yang berhubungan dengan sampah terutama keluhan kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan personal hygiene (pengetahuan tentang personal hygiene, kebersihan kulit, kebersihan tangan,kaki dan kuku dan kebersihan rambut) dengan keluhan kulit pada pemulung dan gambaran fasilitas sanitasi (toilet) di TPA Terjun Kelurahan Terjun Kecamatan Medan Marelan Tahun 2013. Jenis penelitian adalah survai analitik dengan rancangan penelitian cross sectional study. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh pemulung di TPA Terjun sebanyak 300 orang dan sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 75 orang. Hasil penelitian diperoleh paling banyak pengetahuan tentang personal hygiene dan kebersihan tangan, kaki dan kuku masuk dalam kategori tidak baik, sedangkan kebersihan kulit dan kebersihan rambut masuk dalam kategori baik. Hasil uji menunjukkan ada hubungan yang bermakna antara pengetahuan tentang personal hygiene (p=0,022), kebersihan kulit (p=0,006), kebersihan tangan, kaki dan kuku (p=0,013), kebersihan rambut (p=0,001) dengan keluhan kulit. Fasilitas sanitasi di TPA terjun yaitu toilet, masuk dalam kategori tidak memenuhi syarat kesehatan karena jumlahnya tidak cukup, tidak ada wastafel dan peturasan. Disarankan pada Dinas Kebersihan Kota Medan agar memperbaiki fasilitas sanitasi khususnya toilet yang ada di Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) Terjun, sehingga menjadi fasilitas sanitasi yang memenuhi syarat kesehatan. Dan disarankan pada pemulung agar meningkatkan kebersihan diri, sehingga terhindar dari keluhan kulit. Kata Kunci: Keluhan Kulit, Personal Hygiene, Fasilitas Sanitasi

Abstract

Food and beverage are important things for human being as one of principles commodity for survive and food and beverage contain any compound. The exixtence of bacteria E. coli is an indication of contamination of human feces and contaminated by the dirty substance. Urban village of Lauchi, sub-district of Medan Tuntungan is one of areas that sell the coconut water with more of consumer. Coconut water is favourited by consumer that consist of water and the flesh of coconut that mixed with sugar, orange, and ice. The research was a descriptive study. The object of this research was to know the content of E. coli in 8 samples coconut water and the implementation of hygiene sanitation. This research found the content of E. coli in all samples (8.1-240 ml samples) of coconut water and hygiene sanitation of coconut processing at urban village of Lauchi sub district of Medan Tuntungan. The study found that all of hygiene sanitation of coconut water processing at urban village of Lauchi did not fulfill the health requirement for 8 people. The content E. coli on coconut water at urban village of Lauchi did not fulfill the health requirement as mentioned in Regulation of health Minister of RI No. 492/Menkes/PER/IV/2010 concerning to the drink water quality standard for 0 per 100 ml sample. It is suggested to do the extension and supervision for the application of hygiene sanitation of the coconut water and the supervision on the important of the application of hygiene sanitation of beverage especially the coconut water to fulfill the health standard. Abstract

ABSTRACT   According to Minister of RI No.1098/MENKES/VII/2003, about sanitary hygiene requirements of the food and restaurant, food handlers are people who are directly related to food and equipment ranging from preparation, cleaning, processing, transporting to the presentation. Sanitation is an important part of food processing that must be performed well. A food handlers must be of sound mind should be spiritual, not suffering from infectious diseases or as a carrier. One method of medical examination of food handlers is to use a rectal swab test is the examination by smear at around the anus and perianal around. Rectal swab on a 5-star and 2-star hotel to be done, because the 5-star and 2-star hotel providing accommodation services, food and beverage services, and other services for the public. The purpose of the research to find out the drinks and food sanitation hygiene inspection results rectal swab on food handlers at Hotel Arya Duta Medan and The Palace Inn. Type a descriptive study, a population of 12 people. The sampling technique is the total sampling. The results found that the food and beverage hygiene sanitation both at 100 %, of rectal swab for food handlers negative, age < 30 years 11 ( 91.67 % ), 31-50 years 1 person ( 8.33 % ), Education Academy / PT as much as 9 people ( 75 % ) and high School / equivalent 3 people ( 25 % ), male gender 12 people ( 100 % ), food handlers course yes 10 people ( 83.33 % ) and 2 ( 16.67 % ), long working > 4 years 8 people ( 66.67 % ) and 1-4 years of 4 people ( 33.33 % ), routine periodic health examinations performed 12 people. Suggested for hotel manager who becomes the object of research in the management of beverage and food sanitation inspection of the rectal swabs of food handlers in order to maintain the quality and sanitary quality of foods and beverages that meet the health requirements. Abstract

Production Waste and The Waste Management System in Lingkungan  IX Kelurahan Tegal Sari 1 Kecamatan Medan Area in 2014. Waste is any materials unused and rejected as worthless or unwanted, useless or profitless activity, expanding and consuming thoughtlessly or carelessly. Increased activity and human population impact to will give negative health effects which cause environmental degradation. The main purpose of this research  to know the production waste and the waste management in Lingkungan IX Kelurahan Tegal Sari 1 Kecamatan Medan Area .  The research used descriptive survey method and the population was whole household. Sampling was done with a total sampling method ie all households totaling 64 households. Measurement of waste production is done in household by way of weighing the waste for 8 consecutive days. Total waste production obtained is 2.476 litter of 64 households with a head count as many as 243 people or 2,5 m3 . in Lingkungan IX the production waste is 2,5 m3, it’s mean that Lingkungan IX need 1 unit a transporting waste carts so that all the waste can be better. As a result, the average waste production per day was 1,27 Liter / person / day. The resulted of this research  showed that people in Lingkungan IX Kelurahan Tegal Sari 1 Kecamatan Medan Area already has most of the area where waste disposal (96.9%) and the waste disposal have not a close (79,7%). Therefore, the goverments is expected to give more attention and  proper waste management system. Medan City Sanitation Department is expected to add tools such as transporting waste carts, adding janitor and provide information to the community and the janitor better waste management.
