Abstract

Objective. The performance of athletes in sports is influenced by various factors such as their profile, anthropometry, training, equipment, management, nutrition, and the environment. This research aims to determine the potential impact of anthropometry on winning medals in the PON qualifying rounds for major sports. The primary goal is to understand the significance of anthropometry in achieving success in these sporting events. Materials and methods. This study utilizes a quantitative descriptive method with a survey research approach. The research focuses on 11 sports branches registered with the provincial KONI, comprising a total of 70 outstanding athletes. The variables studied and data collection techniques include height, weight, leg length, and arm length. The study findings indicated that one sports branch did not win any medals at the BK PON, while six sports branches did receive medals. Only 33 out of the 70 participating athletes managed to secure medals. Results. The athletes' performance at BK PON did not meet expectations, largely due to a range of individual factors. It became evident that meticulous planning was required for each athlete's training and competition experience. Areas requiring improvement included technical flexibility, tactical prowess, creativity in competition, as well as mental and emotional adjustments. Conclusion. The study gathered anthropometric data from seven different sports. Interestingly, one of these sports did not produce any medal winners. Even among the top six sports, athletes with ideal anthropometry were unable to secure medals. This is likely due to a combination of individual factors. It is essential to carefully plan each athlete's training and competitive experience, improve technical flexibility, tactics, and creativity in competition, as well as train for mental and emotional adjustments.

Abstract

Objective. Creativity is a crucial attribute required in various professions, and its significance is particularly evident in the field of education, including teaching. The ability to innovate and think creatively is essential for educators to effectively adapt to and address the ever-evolving landscape of advancements and challenges. This research study was conducted with the specific objective of evaluating and quantifying the degree of originality demonstrated by physical education teachers. The assessment encompassed seven distinct indicators, providing a comprehensive analysis of the teachers' creative abilities within the context of their profession. Methods and Materials. The study used a descriptive research design, involving systematic observation of phenomena and forming conclusions based on the observations. The research was conducted in two sub-districts, Taweli, and North Palu, covering a total of 29 schools. All 35 Physical Education teachers in the area were included in the study using total sampling. Data was collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and frequency distribution analysis to determine percentage scores within the sample. Result. The research findings have been sorted by gender, employment status, and certification status. The study found that women show higher levels of creativity compared to men, especially in the highly creative category. 9% of women demonstrated this level of creativity, while only 6% of men did. When looking at employment status, civil servants are more likely to be classified as very creative, with 11% falling into this category compared to 3% for honorary positions. In terms of certification status, 11% of those certified fall into the very creative category, while for the non-certified category, the proportion is 3%. Conclusion. Upon examination of the research data, it was found that among the 35 samples, 5 (14%) were labeled as extremely creative, 5 (14%) as creative, 14 (40%) as not creative, and 11 (31%) as highly uncreative. This suggests that there is a low level of creativity among PJOK teachers, as indicated by the largest percentage within this group. However, it is important to note that when combining the percentages of highly creative and creative, the overall figure remains substantial at 28%.

Abstract

The population of elderly individuals in the village of Tinggede, Indonesia, continues to increase. It is crucial for the ageing population to maintain good fitness throughout the ageing process. Ageing in the elderly encompasses a range of issues, from declining motor function to muscle strength loss. Therefore, it is important for the elderly to preserve muscle strength through physical exercise to ensure independent functioning. This research aimed to investigate the effects of a combination of resistance and aerobic exercises on muscle strength in healthy elderly individuals. The study involved a sample of 30 male elderly individuals aged 60 years and older. The treatment group was given a combination of resistance exercise and aerobic exercise, while the control group was given aerobic exercise. Resistance exercise is given three times per week with a progressive increase in sets and reps. While aerobic exercise is given seven times per week for 40 minutes per session. Participants were examined for muscle strength before and after the intervention using a digital hand grip dynamometer (DHD). The analysis performed included paired t-test and independent t-test with p <0.05. The results demonstrated a significant increase in hand grip strength among the participants who underwent the exercise programme compared to the control group. These findings suggest that a progressive increase in sets and repetitions for each exercise activity can effectively enhance muscle strength in the elderly. However, it is pivotal to note that this study was limited to a single village. Nonetheless, the exercise combination proposed in this study provides valuable insights for sports medicine research and can be utilised as a reference for designing exercise programmes targeting healthy elderly individuals.

Abstract

Ideal sports development is characterized by equal distribution of quality and access to sports across all regions. However, sports development in several regions still shows significant disparities. This study aims to analyze the Sports Development Index (SDI) in depth by synthesizing the values of the dimensions of sports development to provide an objective picture of the condition and disparities in sports development. This study is an observational study with a quantitative descriptive design. The research subjects were the general public, sports practitioners, and government officials selected using a multistage random sampling technique, with 30 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and physical fitness tests, using questionnaires and interview sheets as instruments. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the average SDI value for each region and comparing it with national norms. The results show that the three regions studied are in the low category. Each region has relative advantages in different dimensions, but not yet strong enough to improve the overall SDI classification. The conclusion of this study indicates that sports development in the Pasigala region is not evenly distributed and still requires more focused policy intervention. This research provides important implications for regional government strategic planning in accelerating equity and improving the quality of sustainable sports development.
