Abstract

ABSTRAK OPTIMIZING STUDENT’S SPEAKING SKILL ON NARRATIVE STORY THROUGH PICTURE SEQUENCES OLEH: AYU ISTIANA SARI SPd MPd Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengoptimalkan kemampuan berbicara melalui media gambar berseri siswa kelas I SMA Martia Bhakti Kalijambe Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan tiga siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Sebagai subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas SMA Martia Bhakti Kalijambe Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010. Teknik Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, observasi, wawancara dan dokumen. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis model interaktif yang terdiri dari tiga komponen analisis yaitu reduksi data, sajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Berdasarkan hasil Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hasil optimal pada kemampuan berbicara siswa melalui media gambar berseri pada siswa kelas I SMA Martia Bhakti Kalijambe Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010, hal ini dapat dilihat dari kemampuan berbicara siswa yang meningkat dan juga peningkatan pada keterlibatan mereka di dalam proses pembelajaran. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai siswa pada kondisi awal yaitu mulai dari siklus yang pertama, hanya 15 % dari para siswa memperoleh nilai yang lebih tinggi  atau sepadan dengan  KKM yaitu 61. Sementara itu di siklus yang kedua 90 % dari para siswa memperoleh nilai yang lebih tinggi atau sepadan dengan 61 dan di dalam siklus yang ketiga 96 % siswa. Berdasarkan simpulan, dapat diajukan suatu rekomendasi bahwa melalui media gambar berseri dapat mengoptimalkan kemampuan berbicara pada siswa kelas I SMA Martia Bhakti Kalijambe Tahun pelajaran 2009/2010. Di samping itu, di sarankan kepada peneliti dimasa mendatang untuk  melakukan suatu penelitian yang serupa dengan menggunakan Gambar berseri tetapi dengan menggunakan setting dan subjek yang berbeda untuk menentukan apakah Gambar berseri juga efektif dan dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di taman kanak-kanak merupakan fenomena pendidikan. Poin yang paling menonjol adalah kemampuan untuk mempelajari bahasa baru dengan cepat. Anak-anak menggunakan berbagai jenis sumber daya mental untuk memasukkan kata dan makna. Mereka melakukan interpretasi terhadap yang didengarkan dan diamati di sekitar. Guru memainkan peran penting dalam membina perkembangan intelektual dan sosial anak. Pendidikan yang diperoleh siswa adalah kunci untuk menentukan masa depan siswa tersebut. Salah satu tugas guru ada membuat rancangan pembelajaran. . RPP adalah pedoman bagi guru untuk melaksanakan proses pembalajaran di kelas. Pengembangan dan perubahan kreatif dapat dilakukan untuk menyesuaikan kebutuhan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Metode pelaksanaan merupakan landasan atau acuan agar proses dalam program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berjalan secara sistematis, terstruktur, dan terarah. Setelah proses observasi lapangan dan identifikasi permasalahan dilakukan, maka akan dilakukan perancangan solusi. Selanjutnya solusi yang menjadi yang telah direncanakan akan ditawarkan kepada mitra. Metode yang akan digunakan dalam program ini Survey, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi.Pelatihan ini diberikan kepada guru-guru di KB TK IT Alif Smart Kadipiro Surakarta. Hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah berkembangnya kemampuan guru dalam membuat rancangan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk KB dan TK. Produk yang dihasilkan yaitu berupa RPP pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk KB dan TK.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to know whether Podcast can improve the students’ pronunciation in speaking English when it is implemented in teaching learning process in class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year.This research method used a Classroom Action Research which was implemented in two cycles. The subject of the research was class 01 Semester I, English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, UNISRI, Surakarta in 2019/2020 Academic Year. This study was conducted in two cycles. The first cycle consisted of four meetings, and the second cycle consisted of three meetings. The procedure of the action research consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, field notes, and test. To analyze the quantitative data, the researcher applied descriptive statistics. It was used to compare the scores and means of pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was conducted in the preliminary research while post-test was conducted at the end of cycle 1 and 2. The result of the test was used to know how well the students understand the text of listening. To analyze the qualitative data, the researcher analyzed the improvement of the teaching learning process based on the results of questionnaire, interview, and field notes.The result of the research showed that the use of Podcast has helped students to get exposed to correct pronunciation. By constantly listening to Podcast of native speakers of English, students develop their skill not only in listening but also in pronouncing the words in English correctly. It also has helped the students in improving the students’ vocabulary mastery. In conclusion, by listening to Podcast, students can improve their pronunciation and vocabulary mastery so that they also can speak more during the speaking activity.Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that students’ pronunciation in English can be improved by the use of Podcast. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and students can use Podcast as one of the alternative techniques in teaching and learning speaking.Keywords : Podcast, Proununciation, Speaking Skill, Action Research

Abstract

The implementation of autonomous learning needs various activities and media in order to attain learning outcomes. The article presents the research findings about the students’ perception toward autonomous learning through computer mediated communication (CMC). The research was carried out in the intensive reading lesson that consists of 14 meetings and 100 minutes each. The type of research is a descriptive qualitative. The participant in the research is 2nd semester students of bachelor degree of English language education at Slamet Riyadi University, Indonesia, who are 36 students. The research was done both offline and online learnings before and during corona pandemic situation in 2020. The methods of collecting the data are questionnaire after learning finished and observation in following the lesson. The researchers analyzed the data used data display, data reduction, and conclusion. The research findings show that there are various activities facilitating the students’ reading comprehension. They are online listening, text-based and video based CMC, collaborative activity, online chat log, and text based communication; the students have a responsibility to follow both offline and online learning activities by doing individual and collaborative activities, and the students use creative language and language strategy to communicate the texts’ content being learnt. Abstract

This research aimed to find out the students’ acceptance towards the use of Google Classroom in learning English at the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 27 Surakarta 2022 / 2023 Academic Year. This study was conducted at the seventh grade students of SMPN 27 Surakarta in the Academic Year 2022/2023. This study applied Descriptive Qualitative (QD). The research was conducted on June-July in 2022/2023 Academic Year. The subject of the research was 32 students of VII A at SMPN 27 Surakarta. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire to students in a form of Google Form and interview with English teacher. To analyze the data, the researcher used qualitative method. The result of this research showed that the used of Google Classroom as an e-learning media has advantages and disadvantages. Google Classroom could help the students learning English easier and make the learning process more interesting. It also showed that with the use of Google Classroom could enhance students’ English skills and more creative. However, there were some obstacles that faced by the students during the use of Google Classroom, that the problem of internet network and quota limited. Abstract

The aims of the research were: to analyze perceived usefulness in using Google Form in the learning English. This study was descriptive qualitative research. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire to student and interview to teacher. To collect the data of the questionnaire the researcher used the table questionnaire by Google Form. The researcher used Source triangulation, Triangulation technique and Time triangulation to check validation. The result of the research the result of the research, it can be concluded that from several questionnaires using Google Form in learning English can help the student, the learning more interesting, can save time, save energy, and enhance the students’ English skills. But the other side using Google Form in learning English waste of cost and it needs stable internet connection.   Key Words : Students Acceptance, Google Form, Online Learning, Learning English

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze character values types in an English textbook, "Think globally act locally," for junior high school ninth graders. This study used descriptive qualitative research, using a 2018 textbook published by the Indonesian Ministry of Education. The study was conducted from June to July 2023. . The results showed that there are 9 types of character values, namely religiosity, hard work, creativity, curiosity, appreciation, friendliness, moral values, love to read, social awareness, and responsibility. The frequency of appearance friendliness moral values (64 times), love to read (32 times), social awareness (11 times), creativity and hard work (8 times), appreciation (5 times), curiosity (4 times), and religiosity and responsibility (3 times). These findings highlight the importance of character values in 21st century learning, particularly in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). In conclusion, this book already contains character values in it, although not all character values have been included in this textbook. Abstract

Thisystudyyaims to identify whether the use of textless comic improveedthe students’sskill in writing recount texts. The subject of this study were the eight gradedstudents of Public Junior High School in Central Java. The method study was a ClassroomaActionnResearch. Theestudy was conducteddinntwoocycles. Todcollecttthe data, thedresearcherrusedstest such asdpre-test andppost-test. To analyzedthe data, therresearcher used quantitative datadanalysiscby using mean score. The researcher used a formula proposes by Arikunto (2010) to count the meantscore. The resulttof the research show that textlesstcomictmediascan improvesthe students’tskilltinawritingrrecount texts. The improvements of the students’twriting skill were in composing a logical sequence of ideas. Besides, the improvementoofcthe students’wwriting skillrcan be seen from the students’ writing achievement. The result of meantscore formpre-testkwas 56, in post-tests1, it was 72, and inppost-test 2, it was 77. It cannbe concluded that textlessdcomicmmedia can improve the students’dwriting skill especially in determining the logical sequence of stories in writing recount text.Keyword: Writing Skill, Textless Comic Media, Classroom Action Research.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to find out whether the use of the Clustering Technique enhances the student’s ability in generating ideas. The subject of this research was 36 students of X.5 class at a public senior high school in Central Java 2022/2023 academic year. This research was categorized as Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles. The writing test consisted of pre-test and post-tests to collect the data. The test was given to see how far the students enhanced their descriptive writing ability after the treatment. The data were analyzed by using a scoring rubric by Brown (2001). The result showed that the implementation of clustering technique can enhance the student’s ability to generate ideas in writing descriptive text. The mean score of students in the pre-test was 53.44, in post-test 1 was 56.67, and in post-test 2 was 74.305. There 88% of students (32 out of 36 students) who passed the Minimum Standard Score which is 70 in the or post-test 2. Keywords: Clustering Technique, Writing, Descriptive Text
