Abstract

Learning media is anything that can convey and channel messages from sources in a planned manner so as to create a conducive learning environment where recipients can carry out the learning process efficiently and effectively. This research is aimed at finding out the effect of implementing algebra cartoon books on the learning outcomes of class VII students at SMP Plus Darus Sholah Jember in the 2023–2024 academic year. The method used is the quasi-experiment research method with a posttest-only control design research design. The population of this study was all in class VII of SMP Plus Dasrus Sholah Jember, for a total of 76. Meanwhile, the sample used was class VIIA, with a sample of 15 people from the experimental class and 15 people from class VIIB as the control class. The sample data collection technique was carried out by random sampling. This research process shows that the implementation of algebra cartoon book media on the learning outcomes of class VII students at SMP Plus Darus Sholah Jember was carried out by dividing class VII into two groups, namely the experimental class, which used algebra cartoon book media, and the control class, which used conventional learning methods. The data analysis technique used is the independent sample t-test. The results of the research show that the significance value (2-tailed) is 0.000, which is lower than the significance level of 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. In simple terms, it can be stated that there is a positive influence from the use of the Algebra Cartoon Book on the learning outcomes of class VII students in the mathematics subject algebra material at SMP Plus Darus Sholah Jember.

Abstract

Limbah organik merupakan penyumbang terbesar di Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA). Sampah organik yang dihasilkan oleh kehidupan rumah tangga berasal dari sampah dapur sisa kegiatan memasak; jika dibuang, limbah dapur ini dapat menimbulkan bau tidak sedap serta tumbuhnya mikroorganisme penyebab penyakit. Salah satu upaya dalam pengelolaan sampah adalah mengolah kembali sampah agar dapat dimanfaatkan kembali. Limbah organik dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi pupuk organik cair (POC). Aplikasi pupuk organik cair pada tanaman berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan nitrogen dalam tanah. Karena unsur-unsur dalam pupuk cair sudah terurai, tanaman lebih mudah menyerapnya. Sasaran dari kegiatan pembuatan pupuk organik cair (POC) adalah Mother School Sumbersari (MOSS) yang merupakan kumpulan ibu-ibu dibawah naungan Kantor Urusan Agama (KUA) kecamatan Sumbersari Kabupaten Jember. MOSS beranggotakan 30 orang ibu-ibu produktif. Mother School Sumbersari (MOSS) ini dipilih menjadi mitra dalam kegiatan PKM ini dengan harapan memiliki tambahan keterampilan dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga dan miminimalisir penumpukan limbah rumah tangga. Berdasarkaana hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peserta pelatihan secara aktif mengajukan pertanyaan terkait proses pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC). Peserta pelatihan semakin terlihat antusias ketika mereka mengetahui keuntungan tambahan yang akan mereka peroleh dari pengolahan limbah rumah tangga. Peserta Pelatihan merasa hal ini dapat menghemat pengeluaran rumah tangga dan mengurangi pencemaran udara.

Abstract

This research aims to determine students' literacy skills in solving trigonometry story questions at Sunan Giri Vocational School class X in terms of gender. Literacy is not only about the technical ability to read and write but also about understanding and using information effectively to achieve goals. The type of research used in this study is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Qualitative research aims to explain a phenomenon in depth and is carried out by collecting data in as much depth as possible, which is used to describe clearly and in detail literacy skills in solving trigonometry problems in terms of gender. Data collection techniques use test and interview techniques. Based on the results of research on mathematical literacy abilities in solving trigonometry problems in terms of gender, it was found that male students were able to fulfill mathematical literacy abilities in the indicators of formulating, applying, interpreting, and evaluating, while female students fulfilled mathematical literacy abilities in the indicators of formulating and applying. Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' critical thinking skills in solving Two-Variable Linear Equations (PLDV) problems based on reflective and impulsive cognitive styles. The subjects of the study consisted of four students, namely two reflective students (SR1 and SR2) and two impulsive students (SI1 and SI2). This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. We obtained data through critical thinking tests, in-depth interviews, and analysis of student answer documents. The results showed that reflective students could do all four types of critical thinking: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference. They were also able to give correct and organized answers. In contrast, impulsive students only fulfilled some of the indicators, tended to answer quickly, and made mistakes in analyzing and verifying answers. The main factor influencing this difference was the more careful problem-solving approach in reflective students compared to impulsive students. Based on these findings, it is recommended that learning strategies be adjusted to students' cognitive styles, for example, through reflection-based learning and group discussions to improve critical thinking skills. Thus, this study contributes to the development of learning methods that are more adaptive to students' cognitive characteristics in understanding and solving mathematical problems.

Abstract

Digital learning media is one of the urgent factors in improving the quality of learning. It is said so because of the development of digital technology in the field of education that demands effectiveness and efficiency in learning and teaching. Development of learning media so that in the implementation of future learning is expected to be able to support the material delivered. This study aims to recognize media development in learning and test the feasibility of the WinGeom software learning media. Implementing the research and development (RD) research method of the ADDIE research model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The results obtained from this study are based on the assessment of the validator; namely, the material expert validator obtained a score of 45 out of 50 maximum scores with a percentage of 90% in the very feasible category. Media validation obtained a score of 40 out of a maximum score of 50 with a percentage of 80% and can be said to be feasible. Practitioner experts, namely those obtaining a score of 46 with a percentage of 92%, are in the very feasible category. As for student responses to the media that has been developed. The data results obtained with a percentage of 91% are categorized as very feasible for use in learning. In terms of student satisfaction in using Wingeom media, it shows that the majority of students (more than 60%) feel "very satisfied" with the use of Wingeom software in geometry learning. Furthermore, in terms of student learning outcomes before and after using Wingeom software, it shows an increase. These results are obtained from the average value of the pre-test, which is 59.7, and the average value of the post-test, which is 89.3. In the calculation of N-Gain, the N-Gain value is 0.73. These results indicate that Wingeom Software is very effective in improving students' conceptual understanding of flat geometry material.

Abstract

Desa Lumutan merupakan daerah yang memiliki potensi pertanian berupa padi. Jumlah pengusaha penggiling padi sebanyak 7 penggiling, belum termasuk penggiling padi keliling yang setiap harinya lewat. Pengusaha penggiling padi menjual sekam padi dengan murah seharga Rp.1000-2000/kg kepada masyarakat yang membutuhkan. Sekam padi yang diperoleh dari hasil penggilingan tidak sebanding dengan pembeli sekam padi yang rata-rata sebagai pakan ternak, sehingga sekam akan menumpuk dan akhirnya menjadi limbah lingkungan. Salah satu upaya dalam mengatasi hal tersebut adalah dengan memanfaatkan sekam padi sebagai media tanam yang berjual tinggi. Melihat kelebihan sekam mentah sebagai media tanam yaitu mudah mengikat air, tidak mudah lapuk, merupakan sumber kalium (K) yang dibutuhkan tanaman, dan tidak mudah menggumpal atau memadat sehingga akar tanaman dapat tumbuh dengan sempurna. Keterampilan membuat media tanam dari sekam padi dapat dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat. Mitra kegiatan PKM ini adalah komunitas Perempuan Mandiri di Desa Lumutan Kecamatan Botolingo Kabupaten Bondowoso. Peserta pelatihan yang hadir adalah sebanyak 8 orang. Berdasarkan hasil pelatihan menunjukkan antusias ketika peserta pelatihan mengetahui keuntungan tambahan yang akan mereka peroleh dari pengolahan limbah sekam padi. Peserta merasa hal ini dapat meningkatkan pendapatan dan perekonomian keluarga.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' learning independence in mathematics learning in terms of gender. Learning uses the drill method, namely repeating seriously with the aim of understanding what is being learned. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research instrument uses a questionnaire to measure students' mathematics learning independence and interviews are used as additional instruments to obtain more in-depth information about students' experiences and views on their learning independence. The research subjects were 12 female and 12 male students of class VII of SMP Kartika IV-6 Ambulu. The data analysis technique used involved the use of a percentage formula for student answers based on indicators of student learning independence, which were then described using the criteria for interpreting the percentage of answers. The results of the study showed that student independence in mathematics learning in terms of gender showed that males had an average of 59.03% with the category of "mostly" independent and females had an average of 63.19% with the category of "mostly" independent. Based on the results of the percentage, most male and female students are able to learn independently.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe ethnomathematics in the agricultural mall zakat in Gumuksari Kalisat Jember village. Ethnomathematics is the study of how various cultural groups understand, organize, and use mathematical concepts in the context of everyday life. Mathematics in a cultural context can become more relevant and meaningful for society in general. The research method in this research is qualitative research. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method because the aim is to find out what mathematical aspects are contained in farmers' activities in calculating zakat mal in Gumuksari village. This research uses techniques in the form of observation and interviews. Based on the research results, it was found that the ethnomathematics contained in the process of implementing zakat mal on rice farming are reduction activities during grain milling, distribution activities during the process of transferring rice to traditional Budhek agricultural equipment, percentage activities when rice is collected in the Budhek for which zakat mal will be issued, and use of traditional Budhek agricultural tools that contain the concept of flat and spatial structures. It is concluded that ethnomathematics in agricultural zakat in Gumuksari Village, Kalisat, Jember cannot be separated from farming activities for farmers in the Gumuksari community, especially the mathematical thinking skills of male farmers.

Abstract

Modules are learning resources that are presented in a systematic and planned manner to achieve learning objectives. The research has the aim of improving student's understanding and learning outcomes, by making teaching modules that are directed at the Heuristic Vee learning model. This research was developed using a research and development plomp model which was modified into several stages which included the initial investigation, design, realization/construction, and evaluation and revision tests. Data collection techniques used include test questions, questionnaires, and observations. The research subjects were students of Ambulu Islamic Junior High School class VII A. The quality of the modules developed was seen from the aspect of validity, from material experts it scored 85 very valid predicates, a score of 96 from media experts with very valid predicates, and lesson plans scored 89 very valid predicates. Another instrument that was validated in the form of an observation sheet on the implementation of learning the value of 93 predicates was very valid. In the validation of student activity observations, students scored 92 very valid predicates and teacher activity observation validation scored 92 very valid predicates. In the practical aspect, the results of the observational analysis of the implementation of learning with a score of 89 predicates are very practical. In the student response questionnaire, the score of 88 predicates was very practical, while the teacher's response questionnaire obtained a score of 90 with the very practical predicate. From the aspect of effectiveness, the module development was declared effective based on the results of the pre and post-test analysis which obtained an average increase of 21 so that it had a very effective level. From the results of the analysis of student activities, 91 predicates were very effective. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that this research resulted in the development of the module which was stated to meet the practical, valid, and effective aspects.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that plays a crucial role in developing students' logical and analytical thinking skills. However, at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Jember, it was found that second-grade students had low interest in mathematics. Students tended to be less enthusiastic about learning due to conventional teaching methods and the lack of interactive media. Therefore, this community service program aims to increase students' interest in learning mathematics through the implementation of engaging and interactive educational games. The method used in this program includes training teachers and students on the use of educational games based on traditional games, such as engklek and jejak kaki tangan. These activities were conducted in a competitive yet enjoyable atmosphere, where students actively participated in the games while solving math problems. The evaluation was carried out by observing student engagement and gathering feedback from teachers. The results showed that students became more enthusiastic and active in learning mathematics after using educational games. They not only understood concepts better but also enjoyed the learning process. In conclusion, educational games have proven to be effective in increasing students' interest in mathematics and can serve as an innovative learning method in elementary schools.
