Abstract

The purpose of this research were: (1) to examine the existing local wisdom that still exist in thecultivation of rice field in Tebing Tinggi Village, Benai Sub-district of Kuantan SingingiDistrict and (2) to observe the level of importance and the level of local farmer's wisdom in ricefield cultivation in the Village Tebing Tinggi Sub District of Benai Kuantan Singingi District.The sample were 30 respondents from Tebing Tinggi Village. Sampling technique used wasSnowball Sampling. The data analysis was conducted descriptively and then converted to LikertScale's Summated Rating (SLR) and Cartesian Diagram. The results show that there are 60 localwisdom conducted by rice farmers in Tebing Tinggi Village, consisting of 30 wisdom that onceexisted but not maintained, 29 wisdom that once existed and still maintained, and one newwisdom and still maintained. Based on the results of the level of importance and strength oflocal wisdom of rice farmers are located in Quadrant II which means the level of importanceand strength of the wisdom are above average (high).

Abstract

This research aims to study the implementation of agricultural extension, analyze the level of professional competence and study the problems of agricultural extension education in improving the competency of agricultural extension in the Kampar Regency. Implementation of education in the Kampar Regency has been running with good views of the elements that influence the extension of agricultural extension, targeted outreach, media outreach, extension materials, time extension, the extension, facilities and infrastructure. The level of professional competence in the district agricultural extension Kampar obtained a score of 4.16 with a competent category. It can be seen from the sub-variables: the competent administrative competence with a score of 4,08, a very competent program planning very competence with a score of 4.47, the competence of the program with a score of 4.27 very competent, very competent teaching competence with a score 4.24, competency competent communication with a score of 4.12, competence competent understanding of human behavior with a score of 3.88, maintaining professionalism competent with scores of 3.61; very competent and competency evaluation with a score of 4.60. Problems counseling in improving the competence of extension are: labor limited extension, which extension should receive extension target area build the village and lack of media consumption extension of information that is required to develop professionalism.

Abstract

Sialang Rampai  Village is a center of cassava chips agroindustry in Pekanbaru City and cassava chips is a superior product in Sialang Rampai Village. One obstacle in cassava chips agroindustry is the lack of information on production technology and marketing. Therefore  to obtain the information needed, the craftmen of cassava chips will make communication relationships among craftsmen and with external actors in agroindustry who can provide information. The purposes of this research were: (1) to analyze the communication  network  about  the  production  of  cassava  chips  agroindustry  in  Sialang Rampai Village, Tenayan Raya district, Pekanbaru City.; (2) to analyze communication network about marketing of cassava chips agroindustry in Sialang Rampai Village, Tenayan Raya district, Pekanbaru City. The locations were selected intentionally and census was applied to interview 10 cassava chip craftsman who have product brand and business license. The results of this study indicate that in information about production, thirteen actors were involved in the communication network, namely ten sweet potato chips craftsmen and three external actors who provide the production facilities for cassava chip production. Stars in the communication network regarding production for internal actors was Mr. Sutarto and for external actors cassava farmers, groceries and firewood sellers. Whereas regarding marketing information, there were thirteen actors involved in the communication, ten actors of cassava chips craftsmen and three external actors which were the marketing institution of cassava chips. Stars in the communication network regarding marketing for internal actors was Mr Maswi and for external actors were the retailers.

Abstract

Rural poverty is the main problem to overcome national can not be delayed andshould be a priority in the implementation of social welfare development.Government in poverty alleviation and job creation in rural areas, has launchedMandiri National Community Empowerment Program (PNPM-M). The presenceof the PNPM-Mandiri through PUAP is expected to change the societies, both interms of income and income distribution. From the results showed that therespondents' income from the agricultural sector amounted to Rp 124,387,319 or90.9% of total revenue. Revenue from non-agricultural sector amounted to Rp12.425 million or 9.1% of total income respondents, the average income permonth of Rp 5,472,493. Through analysis of the income distribution ofrespondents' income, gini index ratio of 0.35 at the farmer respondents. Thisfigure shows that there is inequality in the income of farmers was lower inresponders. This can occur because of differences in income are quite evenlyamong respondents. Based on the analysis of the level of welfare by theDirectorate of Rural Development Year 1991/1992, as many as 81% or 20 kk ofthe respondents had been in poor condition. This indicates that the purpose of theprogram is to increase the level PUAP welfare/beneficiary PUAP fund has beenreached.Keywords: PUAP, revenue, income distribution.

Abstract

Arwana fish (Scleropages formosus) is categorized as protected wild animal. This fish hasexclusive and beautiful appearance and it is used as prestigious symbol, pride and lucky charm.This research was conducted at PT. Sumatera Aquaprima Buana in Muara Fajar, Rumbai,Pekanbaru, from October until December 2008. The result showed that the production ofArwana fish in 1 period (3 months) produced 1.927 fish with various selling prince with theearning of Rp. 732.260.000, and the net earning was Rp. 420.171.683,33 by RCR 2,35. It isefficient because the RCR is more than 1 so this business is a prospective one. SWOT Analysisresulted in three priorities: 1) Minimize net-operating cost for fish meal by producing own fishmeal, 2) Expand the market share by expanding marketing network. 3) Join exhibition tostimulate local or domestic consumers.

Abstract

The Purpose of study to determine the perceptions and expectations of society to conflict with the villagers of PTPN V Senama Nenek in the village Senama Nenek, District of Tapung Hulu, Regency of Kampar. To determine the respondents used key informants and samples. Sampling method by purposive sampling. A total of 30 people were sampled with consideration to be in the same area, the criteria of the sample in this study is that people know about conflictvillagers Senama Nenek with PTPN V data retrieval technique that is used is the survey method. The data have been obtained in the field of Qualitative Descriptive analyzed. Then conducted with respondents from making any distribution tabulation variables studied. Variable to describe people's perceptions and expectations of conflict used a Likert Scale.Research results show that: (1) Public perception of conflict understanding gentleness quite understand the category measured from the perception of the problem of understanding conflict, understanding the perception of conflict actors purposes of understanding and perception of the conflict actors; (2) the conflict gentleness community expectations on high expectations measured categories of goals, pathways thingking and agency thingking.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) To describe the role of extension on independent small holder farmers of rubber; (2) To describe empowerment level of the farmers; (3) To describe the aims of extension; (4) To analyze influence the role’s of extension toward empowerment; (5) To analyze influence the empowerment toward the aims of extension. This research was conducted at Pujud Village and Suka Jadi Village in Pujud Sub District Rokan Hilir District. Research’s respondent was determined by key informan sampling methods with number of respondent were 120. The consideration to choose the location is the location that has active extension activities and has farmer group. Validity, reliability, outliers, normality, singularity and multicolinearity analysis has been done on the measuring instruments. To answer the first, second, and third purpose of this research using likert’s scale summated rating (SLR). To answer the fourth and fifth research purpose was using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the AMOS program. The result shows (1) The role of extension has shown quite on independent small holder farmers activity; (2) The empowerment level of farmers on the categorize quite with the extension activities as seen from empowerment human resource, productive economy, and the farmers institutional; (3) The aims of extension has been reached as seen from better farming, better business and better living; (4) the role of extension has proven directly influence significantly toward level of farmer’s empowerment; (5) the level of farmer’s empowerment has proven directly influence significantly toward reach of the role extension aims.
