Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze the archetypal pattern and Greek mythology elements found in A Myth of Devotion (Glück, 2006). The analysis began with the kind of Greek mythology elements that exist in the poem. The following section analyzed the archetypes found in the poem, which examined based on the six phases that Frye has distinguished on Archetypal Criticism; Theory of Mythos that consists of four seasonal cycles of nature. This research used qualitative methodology. The sources were taken from various journals, books, and other library resources. The result of this research concluded as follows: 1) the Greek mythology elements appeared in A Myth of Devotion is the myth of Persephone’s abduction by Hades; and 2) The Mythos of summer; six phases of romance is successfully applied on the archetypes analysis that occurred on the myth of Persephone and Hades in both poems.

Abstract

This paper describes the megalomania in the novel The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkin’s novel is shown by Tom to the women around him. The object of research in this thesis involves Tom's character, social life and moral values shown in the novel The Girl on The Train. This research uses qualitative descriptive research. The data obtained comes from the novel The Girl on The Train. This research focuses on Tom's character, how he treats the women around him, especially his ex-wife, where he has betrayed but he makes things as if he is the victim.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the human values ​​contained in Damien Chazelle's La La Land movie. This movie not only shows a love story, but also depicts the struggle of life, sacrifice, dreams, and internal conflicts that are full of human values. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a content analysis method to identify and understand the human messages presented in the narrative, characters, dialogues, and visualization of the movie. The results of the study show that La La Land presents various human values, such as the struggle to achieve dreams (human aspiration), sacrifice for love and career, courage to face failure, and appreciation for the process and effort. These values ​​are conveyed through the journey of the main characters, Mia and Sebastian, which depicts the dynamics between pursuing personal ambition and maintaining emotional relationships. This study concludes that La La Land is not only a musical movie, but also a medium that is full of human messages that are relevant to real life. These values ​​can provide inspiration and reflection for the audience to understand the importance of balance between dreams and social life.
