Abstract

Facial identification has become necessary in the era of advanced technology, especially in security and human-computer interaction. However, accessories such as glasses often complicate the identification process. This research aims to develop a facial identification system that can recognize bespectacled individuals with high accuracy, overcoming the limitations of conventional facial recognition technology. The method combines nearest neighbor interpolation to improve image quality and Naïve Bayes classification to distinguish between bespectacled and non-spectacled faces. The results showed that the developed model effectively identified bespectacled subjects with a high recall rate, although accuracy and precision still needed improvement. The implications of this research are significant for the field of biometric security and facial recognition, offering new solutions for more inclusive and adaptive facial recognition systems and opening up opportunities for further research in method optimization and dataset quality improvement.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of Game-Based Learning in improving elementary school students' understanding of science concepts. The research employs a quasi-experimental design, comparing two groups of fifth-grade students—an experimental group (using Game-Based Learning) and a control group (using conventional methods). The sample consists of 60 students, with 30 students in each group, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test assessments on science concept understanding, as well as a student learning satisfaction survey. A t-test analysis revealed a significant improvement in science concept comprehension among the experimental group compared to the control group (t = 4.21, p 0.05). The experimental group’s average post-test scores increased by 23.5% compared to their pre-test scores, while the control group showed only a 9.8% improvement. Additionally, the student satisfaction survey indicated that 87% of students in the experimental group felt more engaged in learning compared to 62% of students in the control group. The findings confirm that Game-Based Learning is more effective in enhancing students' comprehension of science concepts than conventional teaching methods. Furthermore, this approach significantly boosts students' motivation to learn. Therefore, integrating Game-Based Learning into elementary school curricula can serve as an effective strategy for improving science education.

Abstract

Handling criminal acts of human trafficking in Indonesia, as mandated by Law Number 21 of 2007, involves aspects of protection and rehabilitation of victims. This article discusses the implementation of protection and rehabilitation in accordance with the mandate of the law, with a focus on the involvement of non-governmental organizations and international cooperation in increasing the effectiveness of these efforts. Addressing the complex nature of human trafficking requires collaboration across sectors and countries. The involvement of non-governmental organizations brings deep expertise and sensitivity, enriching protection and rehabilitation programs. In addition, international cooperation through organizations such as UNICEF and IOM broadens the reach of efforts and provides important global support. Obstacles such as cross-border complexity, limited resources, and lack of coordination between agencies are challenges, but corrective steps through harmonization of regulations, adequate budget allocation, and increased coordination can strengthen the law enforcement system. Developing community education, regular program evaluation, and sensitivity to cultural and gender aspects are also a focus in strengthening protection and rehabilitation. By identifying obstacles and taking appropriate corrective steps, efforts to deal with human trafficking crimes can become more holistic and effective.

Abstract

The proliferation of mental health content on social media platform TikTok presents a significant challenge in Southeast Asia. Youth in the region increasingly turn to non-credentialed influencers, or “TikTok Therapists,” who disseminate pervasive pop psychology. This content often oversimplifies complex clinical conditions, creating a high-risk environment for the spread of misinformation. This study analyzes the mechanisms driving the spread of this mental health misinformation. It investigates the specific characteristics of viral pop psychology content and its perceived impact on the mental health literacy and self-diagnosis behaviors of youth in the region. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a large-scale digital content analysis of 500 popular mental health-related TikTok videos with a cross-sectional survey of 1,200 users (ages 16-24) across the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The content analysis revealed that 68% of viral content originated from non-credentialed influencers, prioritizing anecdotal evidence over clinical accuracy. Survey data demonstrated a strong correlation between high TikTok consumption and increased self-diagnosis. Respondents reported trusting TikTok content due to its accessibility and its utility in bypassing significant cultural stigma associated with formal help-seeking. TikTok functions as a dual-edged, high-access environment for mental health information in Southeast Asia. While effectively destigmatizing discussion, it concurrently propagates harmful misinformation. Urgent digital literacy and critical-thinking interventions are required to mitigate these risks.
