Abstract

Secara empiris, daun sirih hijau banyak digunakan sebagai obat hepatitis, bronkhitis, dan antiseptik. Zat-zat yang terkandung didalamnya mampu mengatasi peradangan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat aktivitas hepatoprotektor dari daun sirih hijau terhadap kerusakan hati yang diinduksi dengan parasetamol pada mencit putih jantan. Parameter yang diamati yaitu aktivitas SGPT dan SGOT. Hewan percobaan dibagi dalam 5 kelompok yang terdiri dari kelompok kontrol negatif, kelompok kontrol positif (parasetamol 500 mg/KgBB), kelompok dosis 50 mg/kgBB, 100 mg/kgBB dan 200 mg/kg BB. Pemeriksaan kadar SGOT, SGPT  pada hari ke 3, 7, 15 dan pemeriksaan histopatologi hati untuk melihat gambaran kerusakan hati. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penurunan aktivitas SGOT dan SGPT. Penurunan tertinggi  aktivitas SGOT dan SGPT diperlihatkan pada dosis 200 mg/kgBB pada pemeriksaan hari ke-15 sebesar 13,57 U/L dan 14,15 U/L. Pemeriksaan histopatologi menunjukkan perbaikan kerusakan jaringan hati yang terlihat dari penurunan nekrosis sentrolobular. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun sirih hijau (Piper betle Linn ) memiliki aktivitas hepatoprotektor.

Abstract

Nifedipin is a poorly water soluble calcium channel blocking agent. Solid dispersion is one of several pharmaceutical technologies that enhance the bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs.  The objective of this study was to prepare and characterize nifedipin-poloxamer 188 solid dispersion by fusion method. Combination of nifedipin and poloxamer 188 for F1, F2 and F3 were 1:9, 2:8 and 3:7 respectively.  The physical mixture and solid dispersions were characterized for particles size distribution, drug-carrier interaction, drug content and dissolution rate. The physicochemical characterization showed a specific characterized of solid dispersion.  As indicated from X Ray Diffractograms, DTA thermograms and SEM photographs, nifedipin was in the  amorphous form and entrapped in polymer matrix. FTIR results proved no chemical interaction between nifedipin and poloxamer 188. SEM images showed a new morphology of solid dispersions compare with pure drug and physical mixture. The dissolution rate was increased with increasing polymer concentrations. F1 showed the highest dissolution rate among all formulas. Statistic analysis showed a significant differences (P<0.05) of dissolution efficiency among all formulas.

Abstract

Daun waru (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.) banyak digunakan sebagai obat tradisional. Pembuktian secara ilmiah mengenai keamanannya penting untuk diketahui, salah satunya melalui uji toksisitas akut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai LD50 dan toksisitas tertunda dengan pemberian ekstrak daun waru terhadap mencit putih jantan. Toksisitas tertunda diamati selama 14 hari meliputi perubahan berat badan, volume konsumsi air minum, dan berat relatif organ seperti paru-paru, jantung, hati, ginjal, dan lambung. Pemberian ekstrak daun waru secara oral hingga dosis 16 g/kgBB menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun waru termasuk kategori praktis tidak toksik  (LD50>15 g/kgBB). Efek toksisitas tertunda terlihat pada perubahan berat badan dan volume konsumsi air minum. Hasil statistik menggunakan ANOVA dua arah, untuk perubahan berat badan dan volume konsumsi air minum terdapat perbedaan signifikan (P<0,05). Kemudian dilakukan uji lanjut Duncan, dimana semua dosis yang diberikan menunjukkan perubahan berat badan, sedangkan pada volume konsumsi air minum dosis yang  mempengaruhi adalah dosis 8 g/kgBB dan 16 g/kgBB. Pada berat relatif organ menggunakan ANOVA satu arah menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan (P>0,05).

Abstract

The research of immunomodulatory effect  from the  mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves ethanol extract with a carbon clearance method and the counting of leukocytes cell amount in male white mice. Has been done the ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves is given to every mouse during six days with a 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose. In the seventh day, it has been decided a phagocyte index and the percentage amount of neutrophils, eusinofil, basophile, monocytes and lymphocytes. The result of the research is showing a given ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves at the 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose, it can increase a phagocytes index that is >1and  increase the amount of leukocytes cell that the extract has a characteristic of immunostimulatory.

Abstract

Research on the effect of ethanol extract of leaf dragon scales (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G Price) against clotting time, bleeding time and the number of platelet cells in mice white male. The parameters observed owere the bleeding time, clotting time of blood by the method of the slide and the number of platelet cells by direct calculation method. Animal experiment was divided into 5 groups: negative control group, the dose of 100 mg/kg BW, a dose of 200 mg / kg BW, a dose of 400 mg/kg BW, and by comparison of vitamin K at a dose of 0,026 mg / kg orally. Effects were observed on day 7, 14 and 21. The study showed that ethanol extract leaf dragon scales (Pyrrosia piloselloides (L.) M. G Price) can shorten the bleeding time, shorten the clotting time of blood and increase the number of cells platelet white male mice. A dose of 400 mg/kg BW has been giving maximum effect in shorten bleeding time, shorten the clotting time of blood and can increase the number of platelet cells in mice white male.

Abstract

The effect of basil (Ocimum sanctum L.) leaf ethanolic extract on pH and gastric ulcers in male rats induced by ethanolic absolute 1 mL /200 g BW orally has been evaluated. The observed parameters where pH change gastric liquid and ulcer index value. The result indicated that the basil (Ocimum sanctum L.) leaf ethanolic extract at doses of 100 mg/KgBW. 300 mg/KgBW and 900 mg/KgBW significantly decreased the ulcer index with curative ratio where 45.82 %, 62.94 % and 80.65 % (for one time given extracts for two days), 49.13 %, 77.69 % and 94.62 % (for one time given extract for four days) 52.71 %, 77.67 % and 97.21 % (for one time given extract for six days) compared to the positive control. The extracts at 100 mg/KgBW, 300 mg/KgBW and 900 mg/KgBW also significantly decreased the gastric acid pH to its normal value (P<0.05).

Abstract

Research on the effect of ethanol extract of  ketepeng cina (Cassia alata L.) on bleeding time, blood clotting and platelet count male white mice. Extracts ketepeng cina (Cassia alata L.) given to male white mice that had been induced with phenytoin natrium. Animal experiment is divided into 4 groups, each group consisted of  5 mice. Group 1 (control) was given phenytoin natrium at a dose of 100 mg/kg BW, group II given ketepeng cina extract dose of 100 mg/kg BW,  group III given ketepeng cina extract dose 300 mg/kg BW, group IV given ketepeng cina extract at a dose of 900 mg/kg BW. Before given phenytoin natrium, groups 1 to 4 were measured prior bleeding time, blood clotting and platelet counts on day 0 as control, then given phenytoin natrium from day 0 to day 14 and continued with the administration of the test substance to-8 to day 21. Effect observased day-to-7, 14,and 21. The results showed the extract of  ketepeng cina (Cassia alata L.) at a dose of 100, 300, and 900 mg/kg BW orally can affect shorten bleeding time, blood clotting and increase the number of platelet male white mice day-to-21 and the most effective dose is the dose of 900 mg/kg BW.

Abstract

The research on  this study aims determine the effect of ethanol extract of Ceplukan to renal impairment of white male mice. This plant has many major content of flavonoid and polyphenol which is an antioxidants.. The study is conducted by five treatments i.e. negative control, positive control, dose 375 mg/kgBW, 750 mg/kgBW, and 1,500 mg/kgBW. All groups were induced by gentamicin for 7 days. Serum creatinin level and renal histopathology is determined on days 8 and 16. Serum creatinine level is analyzed by one way ANOVA statistical analysis. It show that there is significant differences between each group (p˂0,05). Renal histopathology analysis shows at doses 1,500 mg/kgBW there are more widespread expansion of the urinary space, repair of glomerulus cells which is  damaged, decrease epithelial cells which is enter into the tubular lumen. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of ceplukan can repair renal impairment.
