Abstract

Work-life balance is a critical factor influencing employee well-being, job satisfaction, and workforce retention. This study explores the systemic challenges associated with work-life balance, particularly in high-pressure professions such as healthcare. A systematic literature review was conducted using Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed to analyze research related to work-life balance, occupational stress, and employee support systems. The findings reveal a strong correlation between institutional policies, organizational culture, and the prevalence of burnout, with gender disparities playing a significant role in work-life integration challenges. Empirical evidence highlights that professionals in developed nations benefit from structured workplace policies, while employees in developing regions face more significant work-life conflicts due to limited institutional support. Organizational flexibility, mental health resources, and gender-equitable policies emerge as crucial factors in mitigating these challenges. Addressing work-life balance requires strategic interventions, including promoting workplace flexibility, enhancing mental health initiatives, and fostering cultural shifts that support work-life integration. This study underscores the necessity for continued research on long-term policy effectiveness and the impact of emerging workplace technologies on work-life balance. By implementing structured and inclusive policies, organizations can create a sustainable and productive workforce that benefits both employees and institutions.

Abstract

The impact of working conditions on employee mental health and organizational commitment has gained increasing attention in occupational health research. This study examines how job stress, burnout, and workplace support influence employee well-being and retention. Using a narrative review approach, literature was sourced from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and PsycINFO to ensure comprehensive coverage of recent empirical findings. The results highlight the detrimental effects of high job stress and burnout on employee satisfaction and commitment, particularly in the healthcare sector. Organizational support and a positive psychosocial climate are identified as essential factors in mitigating workplace stress and enhancing job retention. Comparative analysis across regions reveals significant variations in how employees experience and respond to job stress, influenced by workplace culture and managerial practices. Systemic interventions, including leadership development, psychological support mechanisms, and work-life balance policies, have demonstrated efficacy in reducing burnout and improving organizational commitment. These findings underscore the necessity for organizations to implement evidence-based strategies that enhance employee well-being. The study concludes that addressing workplace mental health requires a comprehensive approach that incorporates managerial, systemic, and policy-level interventions. Future research should focus on long-term organizational reforms and the integration of emerging technologies in stress management to foster sustainable workforce engagement.

Abstract

Loneliness and social isolation have gained increasing attention as significant public health concerns, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study explores the psychological, social, and demographic dimensions of loneliness, emphasizing its impact on mental health and well-being. A systematic literature review was conducted using multiple academic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The findings confirm that loneliness is strongly associated with depression, anxiety, and psychological distress, with young women and older adults being particularly vulnerable. Digital technology has played a dual role, offering both social support and, in some cases, reinforcing social disconnection. Regional disparities highlight that economic insecurity and limited healthcare access further exacerbate social isolation in developing nations. The discussion emphasizes the importance of targeted policy interventions, including community-based programs, mental health integration into primary healthcare, and public awareness campaigns. Technology should be used strategically to enhance social connectivity rather than replace face-to-face interactions. The study identifies key research gaps, such as the need for longitudinal studies to assess the long-term impact of loneliness and intervention effectiveness. Future research should explore the intersection of loneliness with socioeconomic determinants to develop holistic, evidence-based strategies for mitigating its effects. Addressing loneliness requires a multifaceted, collaborative approach integrating social, economic, and technological solutions to enhance overall well-being.

Abstract

Parenting and child welfare are influenced by a complex interplay of socioeconomic, psychological, and cultural factors. This study examines the impact of financial stability, parental mental health, and cultural influences on child development, emphasizing the importance of systemic interventions in mitigating challenges faced by families. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed, focusing on empirical studies from the past five years. Key findings indicate that financial hardship exacerbates parental stress, leading to diminished child welfare outcomes, while parental mental health significantly affects parenting efficacy. Cultural contexts play a crucial role in shaping parenting practices, necessitating culturally responsive interventions. Effective solutions include peer support programs, economic assistance, and the integration of mental health services into family support frameworks. Despite the progress in research, gaps remain in understanding the long-term effects of interventions, the role of digital parenting support, and the challenges faced by diverse family structures. Policy recommendations include expanding financial aid, fostering multi-sectoral collaboration, and enhancing access to culturally adapted parenting programs. Future studies should focus on longitudinal research to assess intervention effectiveness and explore innovative solutions for improving child welfare globally. This research underscores the urgency of implementing comprehensive strategies to enhance parenting practices and promote child well-being in diverse socio-economic and cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of Lean Management and Industry 4.0 technologies in supply chain management to assess their combined impact on efficiency, sustainability, and responsiveness. Using a systematic narrative review of literature from Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed, the research highlights that Lean practices like Kanban and Value Stream Mapping significantly enhance cycle times, reduce waste, and boost productivity across various sectors. When integrated with technologies such as IoT and big data analytics, these practices enable real-time insights and better decision-making. However, challenges like resistance to change, limited leadership support, cultural issues, and skill gaps hinder effective implementation, especially in developing countries. The study underscores the importance of leadership, training, internal policies, and technology investment, and advocates for adaptive, inclusive frameworks to overcome current barriers. It concludes by highlighting Lean Management’s transformative potential when aligned with digital innovations, offering guidance for future research and policy-making in sustainable and agile supply chains.

Abstract

Bullying remains a persistent challenge among adolescents, particularly within Indonesian vocational schools. This study aimed to examine the predictive roles of assertive behavior and self regulation on social anxiety among bullying victims in a vocational high school setting in Makassar. Using a cross sectional correlational design, 127 students were surveyed through validated Likert type scales assessing assertive behavior, self regulation, and social anxiety. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed after confirming the fulfillment of normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and homoscedasticity assumptions. The results indicated that assertive behavior significantly and negatively predicted social anxiety, whereas self regulation did not show a significant independent effect. Together, the predictors explained 8.6% of the variance in social anxiety. Discussion highlighted the critical importance of assertiveness as a protective factor and the potential indirect role of self regulation in adolescents' emotional resilience. Contextual cultural factors, such as hierarchical social norms and limited school resources, were also considered influential in shaping the outcomes. These findings contribute to the growing body of research on bullying, social anxiety, and psychosocial interventions in vocational education contexts. It is recommended that future research explore longitudinal effects and additional moderators to better understand and address social anxiety among adolescent bullying victims.

Abstract

This study critically examines the effectiveness of Indonesia’s intergovernmental fiscal transfer mechanisms primarily the General Allocation Fund (DAU) and the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) in addressing persistent regional inequality since the implementation of the post Otonomi Daerah decentralization reforms. The research aims to assess whether these fiscal instruments have fulfilled their redistributive mandate and to identify structural and governance related barriers that limit their impact. Employing a mixed-method approach with secondary data, the study analyzes fiscal gaps, transfer effectiveness, and regional disparities. The analysis combines statistical indices (Gini coefficient, Theil index) with case studies from West Sumatra, East Java, and Eastern Indonesia, complemented by international comparisons and policy evaluations. The findings show that DAU and DAK have expanded fiscal flows to poorer regions but remain constrained by formulaic designs that overlook socio-economic diversity. Administrative inefficiencies, weak planning capacity, and limited accountability reduce fund utilization. Comparative international models suggest alternatives through performance-based and needs-responsive allocation formulas. In conclusion, Indonesia's fiscal transfer framework must evolve from a volume based to an outcome driven model. By incorporating equity sensitive criteria, decentralizing planning autonomy, and strengthening transparency, fiscal transfers can transition from redistributive tools to transformative instruments that narrow regional inequality and foster inclusive national development.
