Abstract

The problem which is discussed in this research is the internalization of character education for students through literary literacy (Parmin’s Short story compilation) by Jujur Prananto. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to internalize the character education for students through literary literacy literacy (Parmin’s Short story compilation) by Jujur Prananto. Descriptive qualitative is used as a method in this research. The result showed that Parmin’s short story compilation can be used as one of discourse to internalize excellent character values for students.

Abstract

Era digital banyak berpengaruh negatif terhadap karakter anak. Di era tersebut, anak cenderung tidak peduli, kurang bertanggung jawab, dan tidak jujur. Rasa cinta terhadap tanah air pun mulai memudar pada diri anak-anak selaku penerus bangsa. Untuk itu, diperlukan sebuah penelitian. Karya Abdurahman Faiz dapat digunakan sebagai karya yang dapat membantu dan memotivasi siswa untuk berkarakter lebih baik. Kumpulan puisi karya Abdurahman Faiz yang berjudul Nadya Kisah dari Negeri yang MenggigiL dipilih dalam penelitian ini. Metode yang digunakan, yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini, yaitu kumpulan puisi Nadya Kisah dari Negeri yang Menggigil karya Abdurahman Faiz dapat digunakan sebagai materi ajar karena memiliki nilai pendidikan karakter seperti yang dikehendaki kurikulum 2013. Puisi-puisinya dapat dipakai sebagai materi ajar untuk pembentukan karakter unggul bagi siswa SD.

Abstract

This research is motivated by an interest in the asihan or mantra of the Lampung Pepadun cultural community, North Lampung Regency which functions to strengthen mental and self-confidence, expel evil spirits, treat sick people, defeat the forces of nature, and subdue one's heart. The purpose of this study is to describe the function and meaning of asihan or mantra for the culture of the people of Lampung Pepadun, North Lampung Regency. Abstract

Politness Strategies in The Keluarga Cemara Movie Directed By Yandy Laurens As Alternative Teaching Materials in High School ABSTRAKBertutur tidak hanya sekadar menggunakan bahasa dalam berkomunikasi, tetapi juga berkaitan dengan kesantunan berbahasa. Kesantunan berbahasa adalah wujud penghormatan dan penghargaan kepada mitra tutur. Apalagi dalam lingkungan pendidikan, kemampuan berbahasa peserta didik harus didukung oleh kecakapan kesantunan berbahasa. Namun, dewasa ini, tingkat penghormatan peserta didik terhadap guru semakin berkurang dengan indikasi peserta didik cenderung berbicara kepada guru layaknya kepada teman sebaya. Dekadensi kesantunan di lingkungan peserta didik menjadi masalah dalam penelitian ini. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk pematuhan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa dalam film Keluarga Cemara sutradara Yandy Laurens.  Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif. Kesantunan berbahasa yang digunakan sesuai dengan maksim kebijaksanaan, maksim penerimaan, maksim kemurahan, maksim kerendahatian, maksim kecocokan, dan maksim kesimpatian Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, film Keluarga Cemara sutradara Yandy Laurens memenuhi kesantunan berbahasa sebagaimana yang dikemukakan oleh Leech dan dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif bahan pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia di sekolah menengah atas.Kata kunci: bahan ajar, film “Keluarga Cemara”, kesantunan berbahasa.ABSTRACTSpeaking is not just using language in communication, but also related to politeness strategies. Politeness strategies are forms of respect and appreciation for the speech partner. Moreover, in an educational environment, students' language skills must be supported by politeness strategies skills. However, nowadays, the students level of respect towards teachers is decreasing, with indications that students tend to talk to teachers similar to talk with peers. Decadence of politeness in the students environment is a problem in this study. The purpose of this study was to describe the form of adherence to the politeness strategies in the Keluarga Cemara movie directed by Yandy Laurens. The method which is used is a qualitative research method. The politeness strategies which is applied in this study in accordance with the maxim of wisdom, the maxim of acceptance, the maxim of generosity, the maxim of humility, the maxim of compatibility, and the maxim of sympathy. Based on the results of the research conducted, the Keluarga Cemara movie directed by Yandy Laurens fulfills the politeness strategies as proposed by Leech and can be used as an alternative material for learning Indonesian in high school.Keyword: Politeness Strategies, The “Keluarga Cemara” Movie, Teaching Materials

Abstract

Learning style is one way to find out a person's most comfortable way in the learning process being carried out. In the learning process takes place, students have their learning style preferences. Learning styles have four preference models, namely VARK; visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic. The VARK can help students' learning style preferences in maximizing their learning style. Thus, the gap in this research is the investigation of learning styles in the English as a Second Language (ESL) context. The purposes of this study were to find out; (1) the learning styles employed by students and (2) the dominant learning style employed by the students in Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in learning English. This research used a descriptive quantitative research method that deals with the types of learning styles by VARK Neil Fleming. The total participants of the research were 28 students. The findings showed that (1) it was found that in the ESL context, students prefer to use two learning style preferences, namely; unimodal and bimodal, and (2) students predominantly used the kinesthetic learning style. The current findings implied that ESL teachers should provide English learning activities which is able to trigger students to engage directly in the process of teaching and learning in the classroom so that they can use their learning style maximally. Furthermore, the teaching process should emphasize on students—centered learning in order that students will be easier in reaching the objectives of Learning English in ESL context.

Abstract

Content analysis can be widely applied in language and literature learning in schools, for example to: describe learning trends (trends); know learning patterns / models; uniqueness of the school / teacher in overcoming problems; predict attitudes, values and school cultural patterns; describe teacher perceptions; and describe learning management ideas. In addition, it can also be used for language and literary research, such as critical discourse analysis, describing elements of literary works, values of literary works, and readers' perceptions of literary works. Content analysis requires researchers who have and can take advantage of their analytical acumen to knit the content of communication phenomena into socially readable phenomena.

Abstract

Literature criticism could be used as media for connecting the reader and the literature. Stages done in literature criticism is started by interpretation, analysis, and evaluation. Based on interpreation, analysis, and evaluation, this rhyme use clear diction, so it’s become inappropriate for student. In addition, some Indonesian words such as berak, kencing, cebok, and kentut are assumed as inappropriate words. Thus, this literature has low education value for young readers, like students. The use of inappropriate enjambemen also creates and produces unclear meaning in every line of literature.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menerapkan model simulasi sebagai metode pengajaran dengan asumsi tidak semua proses pembelajaran dapat dilakukan langsung pada objek langsung. Banyak model dan media untuk meningkatkan kemampuan retorika pada mahasiswa, namun belum banyak penggunaan media radio dan audiovisual sebagai sarana peningkatan kemampuan retorika. Media siaran audio adalah radio BASUMA 102.5 FM dan audiovisual yaitu WARNAID. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan retorika mahasiswa PBSI dengan media radio dan audiovisual. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tindak kelas dengan model simulasi yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran kelompok. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa hasil belajar siswa pra siklus mendapat persentase tingkat kemampuan retorika yaitu 55,07. Pada siklus I siswa memperoleh persentase tingkat kemampuan retorika sebesar 71,01 sedangkan pada siklus II siswa memperoleh persentase tingkat kemampuan retorika sebesar 73,73. Artinya terjadi peningkatan sebesar 2,72% pada kategori mayoritas cukup. Artinya kemampuan retorika siswa meningkat dengan menggunakan model simulasi. Sehingga mahasiswa PBSI yang pandai beretorika dengan inovasi akan mudah menguasai lingkungan sosial dan dapat membangun relasi sosial. Saran dan keterbatasan dalam model simulasi ini harus memiliki waktu yang lama untuk memungkinkan lebih efektif dalam pelaksanaannya. Kata kunci: Inovasi Retorika, Model Simulasi, Mahasiswa

Abstract

The literacy and numeracy abilities of MI and MTs Raudlatul Munawwarah Jatirejo students are still relatively low, according to AKM results. This PKM is focused on sharing best practices through teaching assistance activities with the aim of improving students' literacy and numeracy skills, teacher technology adaptation, and assistance with P5 outcomes. The approach is conducted through Service-Learning with 3 stages of PKM are: pre-implementation (site observation, needs analysis, preparation of teaching assistance activity guidelines, and providing orientation to students); implementation (lecturers and students collaborate in implementing programs related to literacy, numeracy, and technological adaptation as well as realizing the outcomes of Project Product of Pancasila Student Profile Development); and post-implementation, which involves continuous monitoring in collaboration with partners. The results achieved in this PKM activity are (1) the ability and skills of MI and MTs teachers in creating ICT-based learning media; and (2) the project product of Pancasila Student Profile Development. produced is Ecobrik; (3) MI and MTS students' literacy and numeracy skills increase.

Abstract

The current article attempts to investigate the motivation of language learning employed by students learning English as a foreign language but living in a state that uses English as a second language, Malaysia. The current research focused on the types of motivation by Gardner & Lambert, namely instrumental and integrative, the dominant types of instrumental and integrative, the differences between natural science and social science, and also what items of students' motivation most related to their language learning. The exploratory, descriptive quantitative method was applied in this study with the total subject (N=18) students of Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) at XII grade students of natural and social science class categorized into three levels: low, moderate, and high level. A close-ended questionnaire was used, which consisted of fourteen statements adopted from Dornyei's language learning motivation. The study result revealed that in SIKL, students were generally oriented toward instrumental rather than integrative motivation. Both natural and social classes showed that instrumental was more oriented by the students. Furthermore, the students present the motivation to learn English to prepare for a better career and future. Besides, most students present that they are motivated to provide a chance to travel to English countries. The study's findings have implications for the English teaching and learning process, especially for giving good learning materials, methods, and models suitable to their language learning motivation. Furthermore, motivated students tend to put more effort and consistency into their language-learning process, which leads to success.
