Abstract

This study analyzes dance as a medium of cultural acculturation through the creation of NandakZabet Tak-Tung, rooted in the Betawi cultural framework. It focuses on adapting Zapin and Samrahmovements to represent Arab-Malay Peranakan heritage, while exploring interdisciplinaryconnections with music, scenography, and other artistic elements. The research employs a qualitativemethod with systematic stages: defining focus, collecting data via direct observation, in-depthinterviews, and document analysis. Data are organized into a structured matrix to supportinterpretation. The theoretical foundation draws from Alma M. Hawkins’ creative concept in Moving from Within, translated by I Wayan Dibia, encompassing six aspects: experiencing, seeing, feeling, imagining, transforming, and forming. These guide the choreographic process, resulting in a work thatreconfigures Zapin and Samrah into a dynamic structure emphasizing movement exploration andembodiment.Through imaginative choreography inspired by local traditions, the study proposes the use of ArabMalay Peranakan-based movement to enrich Betawi dance. It contributes to the preservation andinnovation of Indonesian performing arts by integrating cultural heritage with contemporaryexpression. Ultimately, this research supports the advancement of knowledge, technology, and sociocultural development within a humanistic and locally grounded artistic landscape.

Abstract

This study explores the creation process of "Weightless," a relaxation music piece by Marconi Union, with a focus on its compositional elements and how frequencies are manipulated. The aim is to deepen the understanding of both educators and undergraduate students regarding the use of Digital Audio Workstations in composing music, thereby promoting digital literacy within 21st-century music education. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing an exploratory approach and content analysis.Through this analysis, it becomes clear that "Weightless" effectively incorporates slow tempos, minimalistic textures, and gradual changes in dynamics to create a relaxing atmosphere. The frequency analysis highlights the importance of low frequencies (ranging from 20 to 200 Hz), which contribute to a sense of depth and tranquility. In contrast, mid and high frequencies are carefully balanced to ensure they do not overwhelm the listener. Additionally, the loudness analysis reveals a smooth dynamic range, with an average level of -13.9 LUFS and no sudden peaks, which guarantees a pleasant listening experience across various playback devices. Overall, these findings emphasize the critical role of precise frequency manipulation and loudness control in producing effective relaxation music, providing valuable insights for both music composition and education.

Abstract

This research aimed to assist teachers in developing computational thinking skills through children's song creation. The study focused on the process of creating songs while integrating computational thinking elements such as decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm. The study was conducted in 2024. Sixteen kindergarten teachers from Lab-school Jakarta participated in the research and were divided into four groups for the song-creation process. A development research method using the Borg & Gall procedural model was employed. Due to time constraints and the nature of the product, the research adapted the ten-stage development research procedure by condensing it into five steps: information gathering, initial draft planning and development, product testing, revision of test results, and dissemination and implementation. Data was collected through focus group discussions, observations, and documentation of the song creation process. Data Analysis used descriptive analysis using field notes, critical memos, coding, data reduction, and data display based on factual data and information, along with music analysis techniques . The results indicated that teachers could develop computational thinking skills through song creation. During the process, teachers could identify how decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms were applied. The four songs produced by the teacher groups demonstrated the development of teachers' computational thinking skills. This research implies that teachers can enrich early childhood learning approaches by adding a computational thinking dimension through music activities. Additionally, it provides recommendations for education in designing effective learning programs to develop computational thinking in young children.
