Abstract

Lampung is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has quite high volcanic potential. This province has four active volcanoes, namely Mount Krakatau, Mount Anak Krakatau, Mount Sebesi, and Mount Rajabasa. These volcanoes have the potential to cause natural disasters, such as eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis. This research aims to assess the potential of the Lampung volcano and its impact opportunities in terms of earthquake intensity and maximum ground acceleration. This research uses literature study and data analysis methods. The results of the research show that the intensity of earthquakes and maximum ground acceleration can influence the potential for natural disasters caused by volcanoes. High earthquake intensity can trigger volcanic eruptions, while high maximum ground acceleration can trigger tsunamis. This research provides recommendations for increasing community preparedness for natural disasters caused by volcanoes in Lampung. The government needs to socialize and educate the public about the potential dangers of volcanoes and ways to reduce disaster risks.

Abstract

Climate change driven by rising air temperature and humidity significantly impacts agricultural ecosystems' rainfall patterns and chemical and biochemical processes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between temperature, air humidity, and rainfall and their effects on chemical and biochemical transformations in agricultural and environmental systems in Lampung. This research employs a descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach. Primary data were collected through field observations, soil chemical testing, and public health surveys. Secondary data regarding temperature, humidity, and rainfall were obtained from BMKG. Surveys were conducted using structured questionnaires with purposive sampling techniques targeting affected communities. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and linear regression to examine relationships between variables, while chemical analysis measured changes in pH, nutrients, and greenhouse gas emissions. Data processing was performed using SPSS and Excel, and triangulation was conducted to ensure accuracy. The findings indicate that increases in temperature and humidity correlate with a 15% rise in annual rainfall over the last decade. The primary observed effects include increased soil acidity (pH decrease by 0.5-1.0 units), a nitrogen level reduction of up to 20%, and increased greenhouse gas emissions such as CH4 and CO2. Additionally, higher rainfall contributes to increased soil erosion and water pollution. In the health sector, surveys indicate a rise in waterborne diseases (diarrhea, cholera) and respiratory disorders. In conclusion, changes in temperature and humidity have complex effects on agriculture, the environment, and public health, necessitating adaptation and mitigation strategies to reduce their negative impacts.

Abstract

Conventional plastics significantly contribute to environmental pollution due to their non-biodegradable nature. Eco-friendly alternatives such as biodegradable materials are being developed to mitigate these negative impacts. This study employs a mixed-method approach with three main phases: (1) exploration and characterization of biodegradable materials based on polylactic acid (PLA) and corn starch; (2) environmental impact analysis using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate carbon footprint and energy consumption; and (3) consumer preference surveys through questionnaires and interviews in Bandar Lampung. The results indicate that biodegradable materials exhibit higher biodegradability and lower environmental impact than conventional plastics. LCA analysis demonstrates that these materials reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. Despite challenges such as production costs and material durability, most consumers in Bandar Lampung prefer environmentally friendly packaging. This study provides insights into the potential implementation of biodegradable materials in Indonesia and their contribution to sustainable solutions in the packaging industry.
