Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

In the 21st century, digital technology has rapidly advanced, with the general population commonly possessing devices such as smartphones, laptops, or computers at home. Podcasts offer advantages in terms of time efficiency and multitasking, allowing learners to engage in educational content while engaged in various activities such as commuting, writing, working, and more. This research utilizes the RICOSRE learning model with Podcasts to investigate its impact on students’ analytical thinking and communication skills in biology. The study employs a quantitative approach, precisely the quasi-experimental method, to assess the influence of the RICOSRE learning model, supported by podcasts, on students’ analytical thinking and communication skills in biology. Data collection involves pretests, posttests, and observation sheets. The research findings demonstrate a positive impact of the RICOSRE learning model. The experimental group outperformed the control group in analytical thinking ability, with an average percentage of 2.90% compared to 1.85%. Communication skills observation sheets show an average percentage of 76.91% for the experimental group and 59.44% for the control group. These findings confirm the effectiveness of the RICOSRE learning model in enhancing students’ analytical thinking and communication skills in biology education.

Abstract

Media is important in learning, especially with the development of science and technology. This study aims to design and develop a virtual laboratory based on web education as a learning media and to train the scientific attitudes of high school students. The type of research used in Research and Development (R&D) refers to the nine stages of Borg and Gall. The feasibility test of web education uses a validation questionnaire of material experts, language experts, media experts, and educator response questionnaires. The study results showed that material experts comprised 87.5%, language experts comprised 94%, media experts comprised 91.5%, and educator response questionnaires comprised 85.33%. So, web-educative biology is a very feasible category. The effectiveness of the media in training scientific attitudes is known to have an average n-gain value of 0.59 (moderate) for the experimental class and 0.39 (moderate) for the control class. Based on the results of the t-independent test, a sig of 0.00 <α value (0.05) was obtained, which means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. It is concluded that the web-based educational Virtual Laboratory is effective in training the scientific attitudes of high school students and is suitable for use as a biology learning medium.

Abstract

This study analyzes the frequency and intensity levels of sound waves produced by musical instruments in the Bedana traditional dance of Lampung. An ethnoscience approach is employed, integrating cultural and scientific perspectives to examine sound phenomena in the local context. Data were gathered through sound frequency and intensity measurements using advanced audio analysis software, complemented by qualitative cultural observations. The results reveal distinct frequency variations among instruments, contributing to the dance’s harmonic expression. Notably, statistical tests indicate significance, reinforcing the hypothesis regarding the unique acoustic properties of each instrument. This research underscores the importance of ethnoscience in cultural conservation and traditional arts education, offering insights for future ethnomusicological studies and cultural preservation initiatives.

Abstract

The lack of science literacy and collaboration skills can hinder high school students in facing global challenges and supporting environmental sustainability actions. Therefore, developing science literacy and collaboration skills is crucial, particularly in biology education. The ASICC-SLICES model (Adapting, Searching, Interpreting, Creating, and Communicating based on Science Literacy Circles) enhances students' science literacy and collaboration skills. This quasi-experimental study, using a pretest-posttest control group design, aims to evaluate the effect of the ASICC-SLICES model on improving students' science literacy and collaboration skills and its contribution to Educational Sustainable Development. The study population consisted of tenth-grade students from a public high school in Lampung, with a sample of 70 students obtained using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. The research instruments included a science literacy test, questionnaires, observation sheets for collaboration skills, and documentation. Data were analyzed using MANOVA with an α of 0.05. The results showed that the implementation of the ASICC-SLICES model significantly improved students' science literacy and collaboration skills, with n-gain scores for the experimental and control groups (sig) 0.000<0.05 (α). These findings indicate that the ASICC-SLICES model contributes positively to students' awareness and actions in supporting environmental sustainability
