Abstract

A study on plants species sighted around mangrove information centre ofNgurah Rai Mangrove Forest (Tahura Ngurah Rai), Sothern of Bali province(Indonesia), was undertaken in March 2004. The plants sighted on both sides of themangrove trail were listed. Their potential as ecotour attractions was then identified.Results of the study showed that there were 42 plant species identified aroundmangrove trail of this forest. Twelve mangrove species in this ecosystem may act asmajor attractions to the tourists doing tracking there. Information on protected species,the potential use of plants for humans, such as for animal fodder, medicine, the use inancient Balinese community, in traditional way of life of Balinese which is last untilnow, the use for offering in Hindu’s ceremony may also be interesting for tourists.Some plant species may cause problems to tourists who doing trekking so needprecaution, including on those which cause bleeding and disturbance to humanbreathing.

Abstract

A study on identication of plants species available on Derawan Island, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan has been conducted based on exploration survey around the island between 2002-2005. The plants whicht have observed were then listed on a table, their scientific names wrre recorded, their status (whether being protected or not) were determined, and the benefits or use of the plants were also listed. From this study it can be found 45 species of 30 families. They may bring benefits for the locals as vegetables, source of medicine, providing shady spots, or decorative plants.

Abstract

This research was undertaken in Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, District ofNusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, between 2005-2006. This reserach was aimed to find outthe size of area and the status of mangrove forest, kind of species, as well as problems facedby the forest related to its conservation status. From this research it was revealed that thesize of the area where the mangrove available in Nusa Lembongan was around 212 ha, andthere was also mangrove forest in Nusa Ceningan about 15 ha. There were 13 species offlora available on mangrove ecosystem which were classified as true mangroves, while 9kinds were asociated mangroves. From the field observation it was revealed that there is apossible threat to the mangrove forest if there is no good management strategy. Someactivities which were available on the mangrove forest that were potentially provided impactsto sustainability of the forest, such as the use for anchoring boats and mangrove touractivities.

Abstract

Minyak hati ikan kod sebagai sumber asam lemak tidak jenuh ganda mempunyai manfaat yang sangat beragam dan kompleks, di antaranya untuk kesehatan organ reproduksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui diameter oosit kelinci setelah diberi pakan komersial disuplementasi minyak hati ikan kod. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan empat perlakuan pakan, yaitu pakan komersial tanpa suplementasi minyak hati ikan kod (P0) sebagai kontrol, pakan komersial disuplementasi minyak hati ikan kod 3% (P1), pakan komersial disuplementasi minyak hati ikan kod 4,5% (P2), dan pakan komersial disuplementasi minyak hati ikan kod 6% (P3). Masing-masing perlakuan terdiri atas sepuluh ekor kelinci sebagai ulangan dan perlakuan diberikan mulai kelinci berumur 4 bulan sampai umur 6 bulan. Akhir perlakuan, kelinci dibedah dan selanjutnya dibuat preparathistologi ovarium. Parameter yang diamati adalah diameter oosit pada folikel primer, sekunder, tersier dan folekel praovulasi. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan ANOVA, jika berbeda nyata diuji lanjut dengan DMRT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi minyak hati ikan kod dengan taraf yang berbeda pada pakan komersial berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap diameter oosit kelinci. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa suplementasi minyak hati ikan kod pada taraf 4,5% pada pakan komersial mampu meningkatkan diameter oosit kelinci.
