This research was Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D model. The development steps were: (1) Defining, including needs analysis activities; (2) Designing, the selection and design of research instruments and IPMLM activities; (4) Developing, an activity of developing research instruments and IPMLM, assessment of the feasibility of learning instruments, validation of research instruments, and assessment of the feasibility of IPMLM by experts, limited tests, and extensive tests; (4) Disseminating, an IPMLM dissemination activity. IPMLM feasibility assessment was carried out to determine the feasibility of IPMLM. Products that have been assessed by experts were further limited and extensively tested. The limited test subjects consisted of 13 students in the SMA Yayasan Pendidikan Kristen, Pontianak, while the extensive test subjects consisted of 48 students in SMA Koperasi Pontianak. The results show: (1) IPMLM is feasible to be used for enhancing students’ HOTS with “very feasible” criteria based on expert judgment; (2) IPMLM is effective for enhancing students' HOTS. The learning process assisted by IPMLM media with a scaffolding approach can help student complete tasks in the HOTS aspect and improve learning with 21st-century learning-based activities.

Abstract

Combination of Android-based IPMLM and scaffolding acts as a synergism that increase students' actual abilities towards their potential abilities (ZPD). Thus, it can bridge students to achieve HOTS. This study aimed to: a) produce an Android-based IPMLM with scaffolding learning approach in Newton's law of motion material that is feasible to apply to increase high school students’ HOTS; b) examine the effectiveness of android-based IPMLM with scaffolding learning approach in Newton's law of motion material in increasing high school students’ HOTS. This R&D used the 4-D model consisted of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating stages. Empirical test subjects of HOTS items were students of class XI MIPA, subjects of IPMLM readability test and extensive trial were students of class X MIPA. The extensive trial took two classes in each school, namely experimental and control class. Data collected through questionnaires and tests. Data analysis techniques included calculation of average scores, Aiken's validity index, item fit MNSQ INFIT-OUTFIT parameters, item reliability, and Anova mixed design test. The results showed that: 1) the developed Android-based IPMLM is feasible to be used in learning with scaffolding approach in Newton's law of motion material to increase high school students’ HOTS; 2) The increase of HOTS in the experimental class is greater than the control class. Hence, an Android-based IPMLM with scaffolding learning approach is effective to increase high school students’ HOTS, especially in Newton's law of motion material.

Abstract

Effective foam composition has been produced as sound absorbing material based on sound absorption coefficient value. The method used is experimentation, by mixing the main ingredients (polyurethan) with the developer liquid (isocyanate). There are five variations of research, with the isocyanate as a control variable. The results obtained from the first to fifth variations in a row are 0.152; 0.072; 0.042; 0.028 and 0.056. From the findings it can be concluded that the less polyurethan is added the greater the absorption coefficient value

Abstract

Improvement, development, and growth of a country cannot be separated from the quality of its human resources. This is even more so for a country that will face a population demographic bonus like Indonesia, which requires excellent and increasing quality of human resources so that they are always able to compete. Education is one of the factors that plays an important role in advancing the quality of human resources. This study aims to develop an Android-based learning media application on simple harmonic motion physics material and is used to improve the HOTS ability of students by learning using the scaffolding approach. This study is an R&D with a 4D model consisting of the Defining, Designing, Developing, and Disseminating stages. The operational test at the Developing stage was carried out using an experiment with the Pretest-Posttest Control Group design. The product in this study is an Android-based physics learning media application on simple harmonic motion material that has been tested for its feasibility for use in physics learning. Then, the product was tested in the field by being implemented in learning. The experimental results in the experimental class using android media and the scaffolding approach and the control class using conventional learning showed a significant difference in HOTS abilities. The implementation of Android-based physics mobile learning media and the scaffolding learning approach has a positive effect on the HOTS ability of students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of ionic silver nanoparticles (ISN) Ag+ as an antibiotic material to inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhimurium. ISN are produced by electrolysis using two AgBr bars as electrodes with distilled water as electrolyte solvents. The effect of electrolysis time on ISN concentration and electrical conductivity was observed with a TDS and EC meter. All ISN samples have been characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, AAS, and PSA. The results showed the concentration of ISN and the electrical conductivity of the solution increased with the length of time of electrolysis. UV-Vis spectrophotometer test results have shown the peak of absorbance at a wavelength of 416.5-417 nm. The concentration test using AAS has shown that the concentration of ISN for TDS 11 ppm, 20 ppm and 29 ppm is 9.8 ppm, 17.6 ppm, and 23.9 ppm respectively. While the size of silver nanoparticles PSA test results have shown (76.8 ± 0.667) nm. The results of the test of the ability of ISN as an antibiotic Salmonella typhimurium showed the formation of a clear zone until the 72th hour with the largest average diameter in the stationary phase area (hours 24-72) was 7.39 ± 0.04 mm for a concentration of 20 ppm.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a test instrument in form of reasoned multiple choice test in Physics Mobile Learning Media (PMLM) to measure high school students’ HOTS ability. The test instrument developed consists of 20 reasoned multiple choice questions. The validity of the matter conducted by the expert faculty and 5 teachers of physics. Empirical test was conducted on students 250 high school students in serang. The instrument is developed in three steps, which are designing the test, field-testing the test, and assembling the test. The technique of the analysis of the results of the validity of the point about using the criteria Aiken'V. The Empirical test is analyzed by using QUEST and PARSCALE programs. The result of validity test is valid. Based on the empirical test analysis by using the QUEST program, it is found that the 20 items developed are fit to the threshold (INFIT MNSQ) within the range of 0.77 to 1.33. For that reason, the test items are considered valid. Within the items’ difficulty level, there are two question items which exceed the -0.80 to +0.80 threshold, they are the questions number 10 with the value of 1.06 that is in very high difficulty level, and question number 18 with the value of -0.87 that is in very easy difficulty level. Information about items reliability acquired from the PARSCALE program shows that the test instrument developed is more appropriate to be given to respondents with the range of abilities between -2.08 to +2.58. Therefore, the test instrument developed is suitable to measure the students’ HOTS ability.
