Abstract

Lean Six Sigma (LSS) became one of the most important and established business process enhancement technique to improve organisation performance. There are many tools and techniques for quality improvement. However, most of previous tools and techniques are focusing on continuous improvement in general. LSS is more specific focusing on how to improve waste and improving variance in the process drastically, finally improving financial and profit to the company. In addition, there are less study of LSS towards Balanced Scorecard (BSC). The aim of this paper is to review published literature on Lean Six Sigma (LSS) critical success factors (CSFs) and Balanced Scorecard (BSC) perspective in manufacturing industries. The methodology included reviewing literature from well-known databases such as Science Direct, Scopus, Emerald and also Google Scholar. This paper content results of past literature on the CSFs of LSS and BSC’s performance measurement. The finding shows that five CSFs achieved highest frequency are; (i) training and education, (ii) top management involvement and commitment, (iii) organizational infrastructure, (iv) linking LSS to business strategy and (v) cultural change. For balance scorecard, financial, customer, internal business processes and learning and growth are the highest frequency.

Abstract

In establishing a successful Halal supply chain, Syariah compliancy has emerged as a key issue. Halal transport and Halal warehouse play a significant role in maintaining the integrity of the Halal products from point of origin to end of consumption. The escalating demand for halal food has encouraged warehouse operators to devise a new business plan to cater to the present business trend. Warehousing or storage is a critical factor where cross-contamination may occur. As such, this study explored the Halal warehouse compliance from the perspective of regulators. This study adopted the qualitative approach by carrying out interview sessions, document review, and observation as the primary methods for data collection. The outcomes pointed out eight main factors that ascertain Halal warehouse compliance from the perspective of regulator, which are: management member, comprehensive training, Halal standard adoption, supplier, standard operating procedure (SOP), internal halal committee, documentation, and knowledge. This study appears to be a pioneer that probes into Halal warehouse compliance in Malaysia.

Abstract

Business excellence (BE) model is a very crucial tool for organisations to improve their business performance. However, SMEs seems to face issues in implementing business excellence compared to MNCs due to less resources and exposure on BE. Thus, understanding the appropriate business excellence enablers to be implemented in order to achieve an outstanding performance is crucial for SMEs and MNCs. This study aimed to determine the level of business excellence enablers amongst SMEs and MNCs. There were six enablers utilized in this study which were; (1) Leadership, (2) Strategic Planning, (3) Customer Focus, (4) People, (5) Process, and also (6) Information. A total population of 100 respondents have been selected. Finally, 60 respondents have replied for further analysis. Random sampling technique was used during the distribution of questionnaires and SPSS was also applied in this study to analyse data and generate outcomes. Based on research outcomes, customer focus practices had the highest mean (Mean=6.29) which classified as high level. Furthermore, comparison analysis of BE enablers between SMEs and MNCs has been conducted. The result showed that there was no significant difference between SMEs and MNCs except information but MNCs mean ranks were higher compared to SMEs. This research study is also conducted as a guidance for both SMEs and MNCs to improve their business performances in the future.

Abstract

Creativity relevant literature relevant is diverse in approaches. As a result, there has been a lack of cohesive theoretical understanding of how employee creativity operates and gets affected in organizations. The purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework of employee creativity (EC) along with knowledge sharing (KS), organizational culture (OC), Motivation and towards employee creativity in manufacturing industry. The literature review demonstrates the importance of employee creativity in manufacturing industry. Ever increasing competitive environment requires more competent and creative workforce in manufacturing organizations. Critical issues in designing this framework is to facilitating the factors that contribute in employee creativity in manufacturing industries. The direction of current framework has been found from past literature. Anticipated outcomes from KS and OC in manufacturing industry include application of motivation as a mediator. A further empirical study will be carried out to examine the effect of the proposed framework and hypotheses. This paper provides a comprehensive framework that contributes the empirical evidence to the academicians, act as a platform to the manufacturing industry.

Abstract

 This study was conducted to examine the influence of worker environment, organizational commitment and job satisfaction on work performance among the workers in manufacturing industry in Batu Pahat, Johor. The objective of this study is to identify the dominant influence of workplace environment, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction that effects the job performance in manufacturing industry and to determine the relationship of workplace environment, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction towards job performance. To achieve the objectives, the data were collected through a questionnaire that investigated various performance aspects. Quantitative methods used to achieve the objectives of the study. The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) will be used to calculate the data obtain from the soiled questions that were presented to the respondents. The aim of this study is to train researching developers from universities in view of the transfer, interpretation and scientific knowledge. This study contributes to educate and raise awareness of management, employers, and employees. The result of this study shows there are relationship of workplace environment, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction towards job performance.

Abstract

This paper is set to study the pattern of goals scored across 132 matches in 2015 Malaysian Super League (MSL). Despite of well-known researches in European football, no information in Malaysian football teams has been done consistently. To identify the patterns, this research focuses on goals scored based on timing that includes scoring frequency, the impact of first goal achieved by team towards the final match outcome, as well as the impact of having home advantage for matches during MSL 2015.  The findings of this paper will provide useful information on MSL besides helping coaches with fresh insight for creating effective training and tactical plan as the time progressed during match. At the same time, players will also be more prepared for a consistent performance especially when training for matches as the visiting teams.
