Abstract

This research aims to review cultural preservation theory in the context of cultural heritage sustainability with a case study of Peliatan Palace in Ubud, Bali. The intended conservation theory is a theory by Sendjaja which consists of Culture Experience and Culture Knowledge. Peliatan Palace is one of the cultural heritage sites in Bali which is still preserved today and has high historical and cultural value. This research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach to reveal how cultural preservation is carried out at Peliatan Palace and the factors that influence the sustainability of this cultural heritage. The research results show that cultural preservation at Peliatan Palace is carried out through various efforts, including maintaining the traditional architecture of the castle, carrying out traditional ceremonies, and active involvement of local communities in cultural activities. Internal factors such as the commitment of the Palace family and external factors such as government support and tourism play an important role in maintaining cultural preservation at Peliatan Palace. Apart from that, adapting to current developments without eliminating traditional values is also the key to maintaining the cultural heritage of this castle. This research concludes that cultural preservation at Peliatan Palace is not only important for maintaining local cultural identity but also having a positive impact on community welfare and the promotion of Balinese culture on the international stage. Sustainable and adaptive preservation efforts to changing times are needed to ensure that future generations can enjoy this cultural heritage.

Abstract

This research analyzes the shift in the function of bale banjar in Kuta District, Bali, in the context of modern tourism development. This shift in function includes a transformation from a center for social and cultural activities into a commercial and multifunctional space. This research also examines the socio-cultural and economic implications of these changes. Data was obtained through qualitative methods with in-depth interviews, observation and documentation studies. The research results show that modern tourism has a significant impact on changes in the function and form of bale banjar, as well as changing the social and economic dynamics of local communities. These changes affect traditional cultural values and the social identity of communities, necessitating appropriate conservation and adaptation strategies to maintain a balance between tourism development and preservation of traditional values. This research provides an important contribution in understanding the dynamics of bale banjar transformation and its implications for Balinese society in the modern tourism era.

Abstract

Abstract:Thermal comfort in campus green open spaces (GOS) plays an important role in supporting the academic and social activities of the academic community, especially in tropical regions such as Denpasar. This study aims to analyze thermal comfort and visitor perceptions of the GOS at Sudirman Campus, Udayana University. The research uses a quantitative approach through the collection of microclimate parameters (air temperature, humidity, wind speed, and surface temperature) and user perception surveys. Comfort data is analyzed using the Temperature Humidity Index (THI), while perception data is analyzed descriptively. The results show that thermal comfort varies significantly between locations. Locations with denser vegetation and natural ground surfaces show lower THI values and higher comfort levels. User perceptions support these findings, indicating that the physical condition of the GOS greatly affects comfort. This study recommends the addition of natural shading elements and increased vegetation as design strategies for GOS that are more responsive to tropical climates Keywords: thermal comfort, green open space, user perception, THI, campus Abstrak: Kenyamanan termal dalam ruang terbuka hijau (RTH) kampus memainkan peran penting dalam mendukung aktivitas akademik dan sosial, khususnya di wilayah tropis seperti Denpasar.
