Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the quality and productivity of durian farming in the Jombang area through the implementation of crop improvement technology, especially the early grafting method. In this activity, Pondok Pesantren Bhakti Bapak Emak (BBE) Bareng acts as an institution that educates students and local farmers about this technology. Through intensive training, field practice, and ongoing mentoring, participants are given knowledge and skills in choosing the right variety, carrying out the grafting process, and caring for durian plants effectively. Apart from that, close collaboration between educational institutions, local governments, research institutions and farming communities is also the key to the success of this program. By focusing on improving durian characteristics, it is hoped that this program can improve the quality and productivity of the fruit, as well as empower local farmers by increasing income and skills. As a result, it is anticipated that the program will have a broad positive impact on local communities and agriculture in the region

Abstract

This study investigates how palm oil farmers can enhance their productivity and welfare through strategic partnerships with cooperatives, with a focus on the Sinar Berkah Cooperative. Using a quantitative approach and employing structural equation modeling (SEM), the research examines the influence of cooperative membership, access to resources, education and training, and government support on farmers’ productivity. Data was collected from both primary and secondary sources, with respondents purposefully selected from the largest farmer groups within the cooperative. Key findings highlight the significant role of resource access—such as capital, raw materials, and technology—in driving productivity improvements. The study also underscores the cooperative’s critical role in facilitating legal recognition and improving market access, helping farmers overcome business challenges. However, it reveals that current education and training initiatives, along with government support, have not yet yielded significant improvements in productivity. These findings suggest that more targeted interventions are required to fully realize the potential benefits of such partnerships. The SEM analysis provides insights into the key factors influencing the productivity and welfare of oil palm farmers, offering valuable recommendations for enhancing business outcomes through more efficient and supportive cooperative-farmer collaborations.

The existence of mistletoes often indicates the occurrence of disturbances or damage to the host plants that are parasitized. The mistletoes has been widely known by the community, but has never received attention in handling it. There has been little research on crop damage or loss caused by mistletoes. The purpose of this research is to know the existence of mistletoe and to know the pattern of distribution of mistletoe in green open space of Surabaya city. The study was conducted using the exploration method with emphasis to observe the distribution of mistletoes and identification of the type of mistletoe obtained. The results showed that the distribution of mistletoes in green open space in Surabaya tend to be grouped according to the distribution pattern of host plants. There are three types of mistletoes that mistletoe green open space plants in the city of Surabaya namely Dendrophtoe pentandra (L.) (very dominant), Macrosolen cochinchinensis (Lour.) Abstract
