Abstract

Trains are a mode of transportation with kinetic energy used to transport goods and people. The increasing demand for the use of train transportation makes the capacity of the railway track inadequate, because the existing conditions on the Boharan - Sepanjang track still use a single track. Thus, there is a plan for a double track railway on the Boharan - Sepanjang track to reduce the risk of accidents, delays in arrival and departure. In the planning of double track railways using the method of calculating the loading of the railway track, geometric planning of the railway track, calculation of the railway structure based on Service Regulation No. 10 of 1986 concerning Railway Construction Planning and Ministerial Regulation No. 60 of 2012 concerning Railway Track Techniques. The main focus of this study is to plan a double track railway track at the Boharan station - Sepanjang station (KM 33 + 867 - KM 24 + 167). In the double track structure of the railway in the Boharan plot - Throughout the review of this double track planning, the geometric planning of the railway track is divided into 2, namely horizontal alignment using SCS (Spiral-Circle-Spiral) type curves. The output of this study is to review the safety factor of dead load collapse on the railway structure, the safety factor of slope and lateral derailment against the reinforcement of the layer has met the requirements.

Abstract

The Situbondo City - Bajulmati Road Section (Banyuwangi Regency) is one of the national roads connecting Situbondo City and Banyuwangi Regency. This road section is one of the national roads with a fairly high accident rate given the condition of the road on the hills. The frequent occurrence of traffic accidents on this road section is caused by the topography of the road which has hilly characteristics. The hilly topography causes the Situbondo City - Bajulmati (Banyuwangi Regency) STA 0+000 - STA 5+000 road section to have a road with long inclines and descents that have a risk of brake failure and loss of control of the vehicle on steep and cornering roads. The horizontal alignment evaluation uses the Bina Marga Method in the form of the 2021 Road Geometric Design Guidelines. This guideline is the latest guideline issued by Bina Marga in 2021 to replace the 1997 Road Geometric Planning Procedure. Horizontal alignment evaluation is carried out by analyzing the degree of bend, bend radius, length of the transition curve and type of horizontal bend. From the results of the evaluation of the horizontal alignment of the highway on the Situbondo City - Bajulmati Road section (Banyuwangi Regency), it is known that the calculation of the horizontal alignment using the Bina Marga method results in a horizontal alignment evaluation of 13 Spiral-Circle-Spiral type bends.

Abstract

The increasing intensity of economic activity and traffic movement in the Babat Highway area, Lamongan Regency, has given rise to various transportation problems, particularly related to the performance of pedestrian facilities and road capacity. This study aims to analyze the level of service (LOS) on existing pedestrian paths and road sections and to develop effective traffic engineering management strategies to accommodate community mobility needs. The methodology used includes a primary survey in the form of traffic counting and spot speed studies for pedestrians and motorized vehicles. The data obtained were then analyzed using the 2014 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). The results show that the pedestrian path has not met minimum service standards, characterized by low LOS values and high conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles. In addition, the road section shows a degree of saturation (DS) value that is close to the capacity threshold, indicating the need for traffic engineering interventions. The resulting recommendations include redesigning sidewalks by taking into account user dimensions and needs, rearranging parking spaces, controlling side obstacles, and improving road geometry. The implementation of this strategy is expected to improve safety, movement efficiency, and comfort for road users in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a country with vast territory and a continuously growing population, faces significant challenges in providing adequate transportation infrastructure. Railways have become one of the most preferred modes of transportation among the public, making the improvement of railway line capacity an urgent necessity particularly along the southern Surabaya–Banyuwangi corridor, which has not yet been fully developed into a double track. One such segment is the line from Arjasa Station to Kalisat Station. On this segment, train frequency remains limited due to the single-track configuration, which impacts various sectors. This study focuses on the Arjasa–Kalisat segment, which includes three stations: Arjasa, Kotok, and Kalisat. The objective of this research is to evaluate the line’s transport capacity and geometric track design as part of the efforts to develop a double-track railway. The analysis shows that the transport capacity of the segment reaches 3,983,126 tons per year and is classified as a Class IV railway. This segment uses R.54 type rails with a gauge of 1,067 mm, comprising 13 horizontal curves with radii ranging from 270 to 850 meters, and 23 vertical curves with a radius of 6,000 meters. These findings provide a crucial foundation for planning future railway infrastructure improvements to support smooth mobility and regional economic growth.

Abstract

Dhoho Airport in Kediri serves as a vital air transportation infrastructure supporting regional mobility. However, no intermodal transport service currently connects Tamanan Terminal to the airport. This study aims to design an airport shuttle bus system that provides an effective and efficient linkage. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires using the stated preference method, focusing on service effectiveness attributes. The planning analysis refers to the Technical Guidelines of the Directorate General of Land Transportation No. SK.687/AJ.206/DRJD/2002. The proposed mode of transport is the E-Inobus electric bus with a capacity of 24 passengers. The analysis results indicate 15 designated stops along the route, with a total circulation time of 73 minutes. The load factor is estimated at 25%, with an average headway of 13 minutes. A total of bus 20 unitsare required, operating at a frequency of 2 vehicles per hour. The average passenger waiting time is 13 minutes, and the operating speed is set at 30 km/h. This planning is expected to provide an integrated intermodal transport service that enhances accessibility and travel efficiency to and from Dhoho Airport.

Abstract

Traffic safety at night is strongly influenced by the quality of road lighting, particularly on newly constructed roads with complex geometric characteristics. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of solar-powered Public Street Lighting (PJU) in improving transportation safety on the Southern Cross Road (JLS) Lot 3 Blitar and to compare it with JLS Lot 7, which is not yet equipped with lighting facilities. The research adopts a qualitative approach through nighttime field observations, visual documentation, road geometry analysis, literature review, and data triangulation with Road Safety Audit (RSA) recommendations. The solar-powered lighting system evaluated is the Integrated Solar System Light (ISSL) 80 W, installed at critical locations such as Spiral–Circle–Spiral (S–C–S) curves, an 80 m bridge, and segments prone to dark spots. The results indicate that increasing the number of lighting units from 49 to 102 significantly enhances visibility, improves drivers’ perception of road geometry, and reduces the risk of single-vehicle and run-off-road accidents. Adequate lighting also contributes to improved psychological comfort for road users. Furthermore, the application of solar energy through the ISSL 80 W system supports energy efficiency and sustainable road infrastructure development

Abstract

This study analyzes the density of Class A aggregate base course (LPA) on the South Cross Road (JLS) Lot 3 P. Serang–Sumbersih Blitar project, left lane STA 4+125–4+225, focusing on compliance with specified density standards. A descriptive quantitative approach was applied using field density test data from the sand cone method at three points: STA 4+125 L, STA 4+175 L, and STA 4+225 L. Results yielded wet unit weight, moisture content, and dry unit weight values compared to the maximum dry unit weight plan (100% density). STA 4+125 L and 4+175 L achieved 100.44% and 101.71% (moisture 9–11%), meeting and slightly exceeding specifications; STA 4+225 L reached only 94.18% (moisture 18%), due to suboptimal heavy equipment compaction, posing a potential weak point in the pavement structure. Recommendations include material replacement, drying and re-compaction after moisture adjustment, or cement stabilization to Cement Treated Base (CTB).

Abstract

Trans Jatim is a provincial bus-based public transport system initiated by the East Java Government to strengthen regional connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion, particularly within the Gerbangkertosusila metropolitan area. One of the newly introduced corridors, Corridor V, operates along the Surabaya–Bangkalan route via the Suramadu Bridge. This study aims to assess the operational performance of this corridor by focusing on three key indicators: load factor, travel time, and headway. A field survey with an observational approach was conducted to collect primary data directly from actual operations. The findings indicate that the average load factor reached only 42%, which falls short of the required minimum standard of 70%. In contrast, the average travel time of 118 minutes and headway of 20 minutes both meet the acceptable thresholds outlined in official technical guidelines. These results reveal that among the evaluated indicators, only the load factor fails to comply with the service standards. The insights from this research are expected to serve as a reference for enhancing the efficiency and service quality of the Trans Jatim Bus Corridor V in a more sustainable manner.
