Abstract

Catfish is one of the leading commodities of inland fisheries in Manokwari Regency. However, community cultivation businesses are still conventional, with minimal business capital, low human resource capacity and technological capabilities, and business management that has not run well. The purpose of this activity is to provide training and assistance on the application of appropriate technology in catfish farming as well as good and correct business management to the fish farming community in Amban Village, especially KUT PETRA. This community service will be carried out in 3 stages, namely: the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the evaluation stage. The preparation stage includes the preparation of training materials, the preparation of activity administration and the socialization of activity plans to partners. The implementation stage includes training activities, work practices and assistance for catfish farming aquaponic systems and business financial management. The evaluation stage is carried out based on the results of monitoring. The results that have been achieved from this activity are the implementation of catfish cultivation technology training activities with aquaponic systems and business financial management, and have been continued with practical work activities for making aquaponic system aquaculture media construction and business financial bookkeeping. The activity has been carried out well and partners have benefited in the form of knowledge and skills in catfish farming technology, aquaponic systems and the ability to manage business finances. The next activity that will still be carried out is business assistance and fulfillment of the outputs of this community service activity.

Abstract

The quality of Red Fruit Oil (RFO) is influenced by the extraction method. The objective of this research was to study the effect of temperature and heating time of red fruit on the chemical quality of red fruit oil using the dry extraction method. This research was divided into two steps: 1) evaluation of the chemical quality (water content, free fatty acid (FFA), iodine value, and carotenoid total) of the red fruit oil during the steaming of red fruit grains (drupa) at 60 , 80 , and 100°C  for 20, 80, and 60 minutes; and 2) evaluation of the chemical quality (water content, FFA, and total carotenoids) of RFO during the steaming of red fruit chunk of whole fruit (cepallum) at 100°C for 60 minutes and 120°C for 30 minutes. The results showed that increasing the temperature and heating time of red fruit grains increased the yield (1.20 to 5.95%) and decreased the FFA levels (4.5 to 2.7%); however, the total carotenoid content of oil tended to decrease (from 7570 to 7209 μg/mL). Heating at 100°C for 60 minutes did not affect the level of saturated fatty acids in RFO. The steaming process of the red fruit chunk of whole fruit before extraction could decrease the oil yield and total carotenoid levels, as well as lower the FFA level of oil than steaming of red fruit grains.

Abstract

Lemon Island is a small island in Manokwari Regency, West Papua. The livelihood of the people on Lemon Island is fishing for captured marine fish. Captured sea fish are prone to damage and spoilage during distribution, and the selling price is also low. Thus, it is necessary to educate the community about the need to process fishery products into fish nuggets to increase the shelf life of fish products and provide information to the community about the diversification of processed fish products. In addition, this community service activity is also expected to increase the income of coastal communities in Manokwari Regency, West Papua.

Abstract

Pengumpanan bahan merupakan salah satu permasalahan pada alat pengering pati sagu tipe Pneumatic Conveying Ring Dryer (PCRD). Oleh karena itu diperlukan pengumpan yang bekerja dengan baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kinerja alat pengumpan tipe screw conveyor (SC) yang digunakan pada pengering pati sagu model PCRD berdasarkan perlakuan pengumpanan bahan yaitu variasi waktu pengempaan pati sagu basah untuk mengurangi kadar air dan variasi massa (berat) umpan pati sagu basah sebagai bahan input selama proses pengeringan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan penelitian ini adalah waktu pengempaan pati sagu basah dan massa umpan pati sagu. Data hasil percobaan dianalisis secara matematis dan statistik ANOVA dua arah yang dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT (Duncan). Berdasarkan tujuan dari penelitian ini, maka didapatkan data hasil uji kinerja pengumpan screw conveyor mampu mengumpan pati sagu basah yang mengandung kadar air 33,548% bb, massa umpan 5 kg, dengan kapasitas output bahan 10,78 kg/jam, serta efisiensi 80,67%. Oleh karena itu, untuk meningkatkan kapasitas produksi umpan bahan dengan efisiensi yang tinggi, maka perlu dilakukan pengembangan rancangan screw conveyor tersebut. Variabel perlakuan yang sangat signifikan berpengaruh terhadap kapasitas output bahan dan efisiensi pengumpan adalah waktu pengempaan pati sagu. Hal ini sangat mempengaruhi proses pengumpanan pati sagu di dalam pengumpan screw conveyor.
